Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) on Nook Color This is Honeycomb, or Android 3.0, running on the Nook Color. This video is just a quick walk through of the software. In particular, this is Deeper Blue's Honeycomb Preview v4. (Current as of 2/11/11 @ 5am CST) The UI just looks wicked cool. It's just a preview, so this doesn't represent the final product. Still though, it looks really neat. I'll be making the how-to for this in the coming days. The installation process was pretty seamless for me. As soon as I log in, I have access to the Market for a max of 5-8 minutes before it denies any programs from downloading. Then a few minutes later, I get the "Google Talk Authorization Failure" message. After that, I still have access to the Market, but I cannot download applications. I also noticed that some protected apps show up, and others don't. Other than that, it feels fast and is very responsive. Here's where I found out how to do this: (Thanks to samuelhalff on XDA for the thread that helped me do this. Also, thanks to Deeper Blue for his excellent work with HC for the NC.) forum.xda-
Nook Color introduction
Tour of the nook's new 1.3 operating system I managed to get hold of the new operating system for the Barns and Noble e-book reader "nook" and thought I'd share a quick tour of what I found to be new, different, un-changed and in some cases removed. I haven't spent a whole lot of time with it yet but overall I'm very happy with it. Especially the new web browser.
Review of Barnes and Noble Nook Barnes and Noble's Nook has features that no other e-reader has. With its lending capabilities, Wi-Fi and 3G wireless connectivity, and color touchscreen it may just be the first device of its kind to be a genuine competitor to Amazon's Kindle.

Check out our full written review: This is a color LCD ebook reader with a 7" IPS capacitive display. That's the same display technology used on the iPad, and it looks extremely sharp and clear. The nook color runs Android 2.1 with B&N custom software. This is not a full Android Tablet like the Samsung Galaxy Tab. It does ebooks, PDFs, photos, videos, music and web browsing. In part one, we compare the nook color with other Android tablets, the iPad and the Sony Reader Daily Edition. We also cover the B&N storefront, magazines and the library. Barnes & Noble Nook Full Review UPDATE!!!!! _________________ iamgadgetman iamgadgetman (1 second ago) Remove | Spam Marked as spam People were wondering what case this is. Here is the link Also I accidentally removed somebody's comment regarding the type of case I chose. I recommend this one only because I didn't want to have to deal with a flap or a book style form factor. The unit is nice to hold with its "grippy" back and I really didn't want to bulk it up more with a case that had to stay permanently attached. Thank you all for your patience and great feedback. I have finally posted the review for this bad boy. Good thing I waited, since today they released the 1.1 Software update. Now at least my review won't need to change because of the update. Please let me know if I missed something or if you have further questions.

The Barnes and Noble 'Nook' - An e-book reader, audio player and internet browsing device Back in February we reviewed the Amazon Kindle e-book reader and demonstrated how it can be used to enjoy Absolute Radio podcasts. Weve now just received the Barnes & Noble Nook, which along with the Sony reader is a sure competitor to the Kindle. The Nook has similar functionality to the Kindle with the same e-ink screen technology. It allows users to download magazines, newspaper subscriptions and books, plus like the Kindle has MP3 audio playback features for music and podcasts. The Nook has a small colour touch screen located below its e-ink reading screen which is used to navigate through the book store and control audio playback. The colour screen also allows the user to view and scroll through book and magazine covers which some book enthusiast may find rather nice. A recent upgrade to the Nook has seen the addition of an Internet Browser, which is sure to shake up the e-ink reader market, so expect the Amazon Kindle and Sony reader to follow suit with new features of their own. Take a look at the video weve made and see the Barnes and Noble Nook in action.

Nook Color update Version 1.2 - Review Nook Color update Version 1.2 Nook Color update Version 1.2 This morning, Barnes & Noble finally flipped the switch on that update, which is a customized version of Android OS 2.2 (Froyo) and most notably adds a free built-in e-mail client, Flash support for Web browsing, and an app store with a selection of more than 125 free and paid apps. Those who've already "rooted" the $250 Nook Color with custom firmware that's been circulating on the Web for months will be quick to note that this update is still limiting because it doesn't offer access to the Android Market and allow you to run any app you want. However, for the thousands of less tech-savvy customers who purchased the Nook and haven't hacked the device, the official update--dubbed version 1.2--at last turns the Nook Color into a more fully functional Android tablet.
