Solar Still and Solar Still Kit Deluxe.mpg Survival situations in arid climates, and those in areas of highly-saline water (seawater), present unique challenges to getting your daily potable water needs to stay hydrated and alive. A solar still is a time-tested method to generate potable water, even from certain contaminated sources. A solar still uses the rays of the sun to distill water from the ground, plants, and virtually anything that contains moisture. An advantage is that impure sources, which could not normally be consumed, may be used to produce drinkable water. These include urine, blood, salt water, and non-poisonous plant material. Construction of a solar still is labor intensive, and therefore, you must weigh the potential benefit of its construction against any deficit from water loss in constructing the still. Construction is best in early morning/evening when temperatures are cooler. Good survival guides will offer solid instruction on the construction of solar stills, and their caveats.

Pickory- Nonpoisonous Mushroom Secret Now for a slightly harder Pickory secret, the "Nonpoisonous Mushroom." That P switch has to be timed exactly right, or you'll die on delicious fruit. However, if you've gotten through the part before it, this part will be a welcome reprieve.
Snake in backyard Kate noticed this non-venomous rat snake was sniffing around the backyard and when he noticed me snapping photos of him, he tried to bolt for the fence but quickly changed his mind and turned around to hide under some blue foam. After summoning security who bravely turned up with a couple of big sticks they confirmed he was still there because his tail was sticking out. They called a the police who had to come from the neighboring town of Tung Chung. Once they also confirmed that the snake was indeed still there, they called the snake catcher who had to come from Sham Shui Po. It must have taken an hour and a half before he turned up so we fed the human visitors with drinks and cake. They played with the kids and even checked out the kids playhouse for extra snakes. Once the snake catcher turned up, it was all over very quickly. He lifted the cover off the snake, grabbed it and stuffed it into his tucker bag. Now I say tucker bag because the guy was from "Snake King Yip" which is one of the more well know restaurants in Hong Kong that specialise in snakes. However he did assure me that the snake would be delivered to Kadoorie Farm who would release it humanely. Hmmm. The police and security said that they were dealing with "find snake" problems about every day in Discovery Bay. The guy identified it ours as a non-poisonous "mice snake" and that the venomous ones mostly come out at night. Grrrreeaaatt..

Snake Coil Snake coiling up ready to strike! I am not a snake expert. But I was really close. When an unsuspecting bystander witnesses a brutal mob murder, it falls to FBI agent Neville Flynn (Jackson) to escort his charge safely from Hawaii to Los Angeles to testify. But in an act of self-preservation, the crime boss in question smuggles hundreds of poisonous snakes onto the commercial aircraft in a crate, timed to release its deadly cargo halfway over the Pacific Ocean. Flynn, along with a frightened flight crew and passengers, must band together in a desperate attempt to survive the "flight of their lives." There are 17 species of snakes in Minnesota. Even some popular chicken nuggets, which many consumers consider a healthier alternative, are flavored with beef extract and contain twice as much fat, ounce for ounce, as a ham burger. The poisonous sp. have manipulated various chemicals in plants eaten as larvae to manufacture a toxin which remains with them to adulthood. These poisonous b. have a very distinct and easily recognizable colour pattern which the birds learn to leave alone. It is usually the fem. non poisonous sp. that mimic these colour patterns almost perfectly and even adopt the poisonous sp.'s slow lazy flight. Thus they gain protection and have an enhanced chance of survival. The African Queen (Danaus chrysippus form dorippus) in this video is the more common one found in Kenya. It is mimicked by the fem.
