  • Living with pain and the struggle to cope without all those drugs! A good doctor cannot be underestimated. This video was done about 7 years ago . After trying everything: Chiropractor, Lumbar Epidural Injections, and having a few 2nd opinions-( haha! )One of which included the St. Mary's Spinal Hospital in San Francisco- all agreed with- there is no fix- we can only treat the pain with pills! I finally found Dr. James Reynolds at the Seton Spinal Institute in Daly City, CA. In 2 minutes of reviewing my MRI's, he stated that the treatments I had received were not addressing where most of my pain was and after doing a simple physical exam and applying some pressure with his fingers, it was obvious that my pain could be "induced" (at least most of my pain) which is a good indicator that I had bad facet joints. He was right! He scheduled me for a Radiofrequency Neurotomy for Facet and Sacroiliac Joint Pain. I will never have my entire life back and sadly, miss playing tennis, fishing along a rocky river bed and I still can't sit for too long and have limitations due to pain. But at least I can now enjoy a leisurely morning walk with my dogs, smell the flowers, and surely I enjoy my grandchildren. I cannot ride motorcycles anymore because I do still have some issues that have progressed over the years - a recent MRI shows 5 discs leaking- but I am not surprised as this is a hereditary condition. But most important is I have my wits about me now and you don't realize how "off" you appear to your family and friends until you rid your system of ...

LUMBARCOOL* Cooled Radiofrequency Pain Management System Perpendicular placement for one-pass, optimal ablation LUMBARCOOL* System uses the cooled RF platform for lumbar medial branch neurotomy. LUMBARCOOL* System enables placement of a large-volume lesion encompassing the medial branch nerve in one pass, eliminating the need for multiple passes. Many patients may fail standard RF treatments, or have a challenging anatomy. LUMBARCOOL* System enables perpendicular placement allowing "gun-barrel" access to target the nerve, compared to standard RF, in which parallel placement to nerve or multiple-pass lesioning is required to achieve optimal ablation.

  • Arden Kaisman Neurotomy Facet neurotomy is a procedure which results in interruption of the nerve supply to a facet joint. This interruption known as denervation, is accomplished by a radio-frequency probe that heats the 2 small nerve branches to each facet joint. These nerves are called the medial branches. HOW IS IT DONE? A local skin anesthetic is given near the base of the neck on the affected side. A needle is inserted by the anesthesiologist near the transverse process of the cervical spine (usually at the cervical-6 level). A sterile tubing is attached to the needle and anesthetic medication is slowly injected through the tubing. EXPECTED RESULTS: The patient may note increased warmth and redness of the painful arm during and after the injection. The patient can expect hoarseness of their voice, redness of the eye, drooping of the eyelid and pupillary constriction for four to eight hours after the injection. Pain relief may be noted immediately. Duration of relief is variable.
