  • Metamorphism: Aspects of the Human Spirit ~ Relaxation/Art Video Metamorphs were created to reflect aspects of the human spirit. While I am no longer in need of healing as I am of well being, the past was much different. At 19 cancer resulted in drastic surgery and other means. I found my comforts & healing in alternative medicines and means. After 6 years of undiagnosed C-diff and a weight loss of over 80 pounds, I sought out alternative means once more. Once diagnosed I was able to share the alternative healing means to others. During these times and when I lost a little life growing inside I began a series of artwork. Each one reflects a period in my life when I was faced with choices, desires and feelings. I believe we are on a path in life, a path of free will and choice. These are my drawings that reflect some of our human and universal spirit. End Message in Video: While my time on earth has been short I have dealt with many dis-eases from cancers to environmental and severe chemical sensitivities that have kept me mostly housebound but able to be striving when out and one with nature. Through my life and death experiences I have learned to place value on the simplicity and beauty of nature and all creation. I choose to live in love and for each precious moment we are given. Enjoy the elements and surroundings you have been provided with. Reflect on your own human spirit and the metamorphism you can create. As the caterpillar morphs into the butterfly we too can evolve into something more beautiful than we humans ever imagined ...

  • Metamorphism - Earthlearningidea This is an Earthlearningidea activity 'Metamorphism - that's Greek for change of shape isn't it?' The first part of the video shows how elongated clay minerals in a mudstone become aligned as they recrystallise under intense pressure in the Earth to produce the metamorphic rock, slate. The second part shows how rounded particles in a limestone (or sandstone) recrystallise under intense pressure in the Earth to form marble (or quartzite).

  • Metamorphism For my final creative project, I created a dance piece inspired by the metamorphism process from the shale, to slate, to schist, and ending at gneiss. Metamorphism is performed to the instrumental, "Under Pressure" by Queen. The piece starts out with myself in a long-sleeved, black, turtleneck. I am doing minimalist movement representing low-grade pressure. I am wearing a long sleeve turtleneck to represent very low heat. I then transform into a knitted long-sleeved shirt. I roll up my sleeves to show that the heat is increasing. The way my shirt is knitted reminded me of the grains in slate and how they are slowly becoming more parallel due to the heat and pressure. My movement increases showing that the pressure is increasing. The next section of the piece is performed in a sparkly tank top to represent the quartz in schist and that the heat is increasing even more. The movement is even more intense now because the pressure is at medium grade. I end Metamorphism in a striped shirt to represent the foliation in gneiss and the movement is at maximum intensity to represent the pressure at this stage of metamorphism. Credit to Benji Hom who I love.

  • Metamorphic Rock Song This is an assignment for geology at the College of Charleston where i had to talk about a certain subject from class. This is my video and rap for metamorphic rocks. Sorry about the crappy sound quality. Chorus: Metamorphic rocks on the clock, but they the best of all time. If this wasn't true do you think I'd be glued to my seat writing this rhyme? So get a clue and don't be blue, because y'all can sing along. We'll fill you in a little bit, call this the Metamorphic Song. It's ABC's, and 123's of metamorphic rocks; so listen before you get socked. Verse 1: This is how we make it, and this is how we do it. Holla Chucktown, Man I'm not stupid, highly educated by Professor Harris On the nature of rocks and the nature of their parents. You see a metamorphic rock is the third on the wheel And its appearance comes from pre-existing rocks on the real. There's a few distinct features, foliated or not And pressure may exist for some, while some may be hot, Or react to heat I mean, still some may be both. In fact heat and pressure will be applied to most. But foliated may have cleavage, schistosity, or may be gneiss While non foliated have crystals: some like circles, some like rice. I just wish I could take a hike, I just wish I could collect phyllite. I just wish I could go on a date with a nice piece of schist or a nice piece of slate. Chorus Repeat Verse 2: So we back for part two and this might be a little tricky, May not be for the faint of height or those who are quite ...

  • DEFCON 14: Hunting for Metamorphic Engines Speakers: Mark Stamp, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, San Jose State University Wing H. Wong, Student, San Jose State University Abstract: Metamorphism has been touted as a way to generate undetectable viruses and worms, and it has also been suggested as a potential security-enhancing technique. Today metamorphic virus construction kits are readily available on the Internet. A visit to the VX Heavens reveals more than 150 generators and engines to choose from in the category of "Worm/Virus Creation Tools". The purpose of a metamorphic generator is to create multiple instances of a virus which are sufficiently different from each other so as to avoid detection. How effective are these metamorphic engines? How different are the morphed variants? Is it possible to detect metamorphic viruses and worms? We ***yze several metamorphic engines (include MPCGEN Mass Code Generator, G2, NGVCK, and VCL32). In each case, we precisely measure the similarity of different instances of the morphed code. We show that the morphing abilities of these engines varies widely. We also show that, ironically, the metamorphic viruses we tested are easy to distinguish from normal code, regardless of the effectiveness of the morphing. Our results indicate that, in practice, it may be more difficult to effectively use metamorphism as a means to avoid detection than is generally believed.
