Luxury mall opens in Gaza While Hamas continues to demand a full lifting of the blockade, Gaza Mall, the first ever shopping center in the Strip was opened last Saturday with masses storming the new attraction. I am providing these views for those that have left the area, and those who may have the capital or interest to revitalize them. Dead Mall Dixie Square Mall Harvey IL I was in the Chicago suburbs for a visit this September. This is what Dixie Square mall looks like today. (Sept 18th 2007) This is the mall that had the police chase thru it in the Blues Brothers movie. Please excuse the jittery camera footage, it's difficult to drive and hold the camera at the same time. :) The smell coming out of the place was really musty and damp! Unfortunatley, we didn't go inside the premises since we were being watched by the Harvey police and I didn't want them to come over and have to kick us out. We saw several police cruisers over there as soon as we left when we were driving away! It's quite a rundown neighborhood these days, much worse than it was 25 years ago when I used to live in the Chicago area and it was a bad neighborhood then!

"Bannister Mall was a shopping mall on the southeast corner of Kansas City, Missouri that closed on May 31, 2007, after being open for almost 27 years. The site will be reused for a new Kansas City Wizards soccer stadium Bannister Mall was built and opened in August 1980 at 5600 Bannister Road in Kansas City, Missouri between I-435 and Hillcrest Road. The area was once the site of the Three Trails (Santa Fe, California, and Oregon). The mall was one of the largest malls in the Kansas City area in a previously vital and vibrant shopping area. In the early 1980s, Bannister Mall was the "place to go" with a draw over a large area that was mostly from South Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri, and Johnson County, Kansas. In 1988-1990, an area north and east of the mall called Benjamin Plaza was added to the commercial retail area.
