GOA : VAGERI VILLAGE FACING DANGER DUE TO MINING ACTIVITIES *The people residing in the Vagori village of Pisurlem panchayat once had lushing fields, streams, and everflowing waterfalls. the village was famous for their vyagreshwar temple and the natural scenic beauty. a few years back, ever since ming began in the area, the village has been losing its aesthetic beauty. the lakes, waterfalls and their source has been disrupted. after the submission of the shah report on mining, it came to light that there was illegal as well as mining activity in the night that was taking place. the area is now under environmentalist Dr. Madhav Gadgil, who has a thorough knowledge of the western ghats, and has studied the entire surrounding and its environmental habitats. the people have now raised a concern that their site should be protected and be preserved for the generations to come.
