  • Scottish Country Dancing - Coming to Franklin and The Luckenbooth Brooch. My dance group, The Thistle and Ghillies, performing at the Boise, Idaho Highland games. The first dance was written by my wife Diane and is in honour of her ancestors. It's called 'Coming to Franklin.' The Lowes were some of the first non-Native people to settle in Idaho and helped found the town of Franklin. They were Tartan Weavers from Fife. (I know, Fife of all places. :P ) The dance is a Strathspey / Reel medley. The second dance performed, as you can hear, is The Luckenbooth Brooch and is one of our favourites. We did out best on a terrible stage and usually weren't too late coming in because of sliding in the wrong direction. (At least we never stalled the dance.)
