In My Language The first part is in my "native language," and then the second part provides a translation, or at least an explanation. This is not a look-at-the-autie gawking freakshow as much as it is a statement about what gets considered thought, intelligence, personhood, language, and communication, and what does not.

Speaking in Tongues: The History of Language - Episode # 1 Let There Be Words Speaking in Tongues: The History of Langauge - Episode # 1 - Let There Be Words preview. What precisely is language, and how did humans acquire it? In an effort to answer those essential questions, this program journeys back to prehistoric times in search of languages origin. But this is not a passive discussion, as Noam Chomsky; Brown Universitys Philip Lieberman; Johanna Nichols, of UC Berkeley; Stanford Universitys Merritt Ruhlen; professor of anthropology Richard Klein; Nobel physicist Murray Gell-Mann; and others passionately defend their points of view. Additional topics include distinguishing features of human communication and what humankinds first utterances may have been. The early evolution and migration of humans is also considered. Joy Williams - Speaking a Dead Language - Grey's Anatomy season 6 premiere "Speaking a Dead Language" by Joy Williams is featured in the season 6 premiere of Grey's Anatomy, ep.601, "Good Mourning". Download this song from iTunes: Speaking a Dead Language written by Joy Williams & Jeremy Bose We built a tall, tall tower towards the sun, towards the sun took some words and built a wall and called it love, called it love And somewhere in all the talking the meaning faded out Oh I wonder when did it all stop making sense I don't understand I remember we were so sure, so innocent o but that was then can we ever go back again? can we ever go back again? You're speaking a dead, dead language you don't sound like yourself I hope it's just lost in translation why don't you show, don't try to tell brick by brick we started crumbling will I find you when it falls? Oh I wonder when did it all stop making sense? I don't understand I remember we were so sure, so innocent o but that was then can we ever go back again? can we ever go back again? don't hold your breath look around try to add it up pin it down but you can't Oh I wonder when did it all stop making sense I don't understand I remember we were so sure, so innocent o but that was then can we ever go back again? can we ever go back again?

Stephen Fry Kinetic Typography - Language UPDATE 11/10/2010: Thanks to Stephen Fry for mentioning this video on his twitter account, rather exciting! Using the wonderful words of acclaimed writer, actor and allround know it all (I mean that in the best of ways) Stephen Fry I have created this kinetic typography animation. If you like what you hear you can download the rest of the audio file from Mr. Fry's website. and then go to the audio and video section at the top of the page and look for the file entitled language. You can also find the file on iTunes by searching the name 'Stephen Fry's Podgrams'. I loved this particular essay on language and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to make my first kinetic typography video. I hope you like it and even if you dont I would like to heard what you think in the comments section. Also I know that at points the audio does not match the text so you do not have to write that. It is because I copied the transcript off of Stephen's website and it was not 100% exactly what he said and i did not notice until I was well underway. However these cases are few and far between. Just incase you were wondering the programs I used to make this were all by Adobe. Mostly After Effects but also Flash and Illustrator. Flash for the changing background colour transitions and illustrator for putting the words in to the shape of 'language' before loading it into After Effects to animate. Enjoy
