  • Donna Lee (Clifford Brown's solo) performed by Benoît Sauvé/Recorder "Donna Lee" (Clifford Brown's chorus) transcribed and played by Benoît Sauvé/Recorder,Flûte à Bec,Flauta Doce*. *Keyless recorders with double-holes upside-down (recorders for lefthanders). Amongst the various work methods that I have experimented with in improvisation, there is one that I have found particularly beneficial: transcribing choruses from recordings. This series of videos reflects part of the work done on a few of these amazing solos. Why transcribing solos? Although studying the various scales and chords, and the relations between them,is essential in learning to improve, putting these theoretical notions into practise can be very laborious. This is why making transcriptions of actual solos can be so useful for training aural perception and instrumental technique,as well as allowing us to ***yse the styles of great jazzmen, enrich our musical vocabulary, and thus help develop our own musical ideas.

Time to make another Nutnfancy memory and maybe knock out some training and gear testing at the same time! Tools for the course of fire were tactical LBE, handguns and tactical carbines... all personal choices of the participants. Out in the beautiful "Nebraska" desert, this was a super fun outing with TNPrs. After laying down a serious foundation of range safety, gun handling, and doing the laborious course setup, it was off to the races. In Part 2, DrZmanproject and 1StepTooFar step it out in the Sledgehammer Drill with DrZ posting an impressive 39 points. Both did great for seldom coming being able to shoot tactical style! Later on we take time out for a "burger burn" and some lunch chat. This was about as many people we could handle in the SH; any more and there be more stress for me as people don't get a chance to shoot enough and just stand around waiting for their turn (and safely managing it all). We had a great representation of TNPrs at this shoot and I thank them all for making the long trip out to make the event such a big success. • Mortal Kombat Rebirth 2010 New Mortal Kombat trailer. Six minutes of the new Mortal Kombat movie. "Just under eight minutes of something related to Mortal Kombat has been posted on YouTube. The video features Jax -- sans cybernetic arms -- grilling a mysterious perp in a police station. Through some (laborious) exposition, he describes new humanized (and gross) versions of Reptile and Baraka, along with Johnny Cage and a young, beardless Shang Tsung. At first glance, one might assume it's footage from the new, possibly derailed Mortal Kombat movie. Another possibility, given the video's proximity to E3 and its introductory nature, is that this is a tease for the next Mortal Kombat game. Furthermore, the name of the newly created YouTube account is MortalKombatRebirth, which sounds like a perfectly suitable title for a new entry in the series. A third and altogether frightening possibility: This is all a prelude to a new movie / game tie-in. We know Warner Bros. is interested in the franchise, so it's safe to assume something is on the horizon. We've contacted WBIE for more info. One way or another, it seems likely we'll hear more by next week." Source:

  • Kings of Leon in Auckland - True tales. There are two routes to the top of the musical food chain, where Nashville's Kings of Leon are sitting pretty these days. The first is through a cataclysmic explosion on to the music scene, winning an instant fan base with a series of chart-topping hits. The second, and the path the Kings of Leon have followed, is a slower and more laborious prospect - growing your fan base through a series of solid, consistent records and regular tours. Last night's show at Vector Arena was the band's fourth visit to New Zealand, following two Big Day Out showcases and a sellout show at Vector Arena last January. This time, they are playing three sellout stadium shows in New Zealand, thanks in large part to their recent hit record (their fourth studio effort) Only By The Night. And while the record - the band's most radio-friendly, stadium-suited - may be responsible for their staggering ticket sales, the boys returned to their southern fried roots for the show, churning out their full spectrum, from the golden hick jams of the early days to recent stadium anthems. It was a far cry from last year's disappointing showcase, in which the band adopted a surly professional aloofness as they swiftly turned out the hits and left without so much as a word to the crowd. Talking still isn't a strong point with the Followill brothers, but frontman Caleb at least tried to interact with some tried-and-true cliches. Nobody in the packed stadium really believed we were the best crowd of the tour, but ...

  • Harassment: the beginning of a crazy rant that took 4 hours! Oh, I just got done with all of this shouting and stuff. It seems as if my "Generalizations" alienate people. I guess it's really hard to talk to people in a "Democracy" because they get all worried about the "Sum/All" Fallacy and want you to address each case separately, which... is not only laborious, but ridiculous. So, here I am stiring the pot... the whole thing ended early because I had to have a fight with a Knobin who called me up on messenger without sending a text first, or seeing if it was okay or anything at all. It was horrible, because I had to fight about more dumbness, and stuff. I had to deal with the idea that some people just want to throw junk into your face. Oh, so, just as I was pulling out the evidnce they had to go. man, .... anyway, I would appreciate if you could understand that when I "Generalize" what I am doing is cutting to the chase, I know that I could laboriously detail each ***ing worthless demographic of this giant stinking turd that is a world... sorry, am I negative? It makes me happy, so, I have 2 videos to put up today, I'll get that up now.

  • Love Will Find a Way by Yes This is another one I discovered on my hard drive as I was evaluating my next vidoes to complete, that was basically finished, just missing titles and such. Anyway, here it is, better Nate than lever. From Wikipedia: Big Generator is the twelfth studio album by progressive rock band Yes. It was released in 1987 on Atlantic Records' Atco subsidiary label (Yes' last studio album for Atlantic) and was the follow-up to the massively successful 90125 album. A laborious album to make, Big Generator's sessions dragged on for two years, largely due to creative differences. Guitarist Trevor Rabin was aiming to progress beyond 90125, while founding lead vocalist Jon Anderson was beginning to yearn for more traditional Yes music. The result was an album that was successful commercially, with two songs reaching the US Top 40: "Love Will Find A Way" (also a #1 on the Mainstream Rock chart) and "Rhythm Of Love" (their last US Top 40 hit). The album was not as popular as 90125, and feeling that the band was going in a direction he didn't want to pursue, Jon Anderson began working on other projects at the conclusion of the Big Generator tour in 1988 including a partial reformation with his Yes bandmates from the 1970s. Lyrics: You wanna get close to me The feeling is so clear But I need some time to see Vision through my tears You wanna get next to me I need your intrusion I don't need to be Blinded by confusion Here is my heart Waiting for you Here is my soul I eat at chez nous Love ...

  • Recycling the Poor - India Imagine city streets with no dustbins. Imagine a place where anybody can litter whatever and wherever they want. Against the chaos India still has some of the highest recycling levels in the world. This report follows the characters who represent three types of employment within the 'informal recycling' industry. Ramshackle sacks of general scrap are piled up in every corner; while a group of women wearing worn up dresses are busy sorting the plastic by type and color. Most of their income is earned by this daily laborious and excruciating task, and by salvaging any recyclables they can to sell on. Despite the benefits of recycling, prejudices against 'informal-pickers' are yet to be overcome. Very few cities in the world have organized 'recycling cooperatives' and only a few policies have been developed to support this approach. Shoreditch Films Ltd
