Jablonski Department of Anthropology, California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco, California 98103; email: [email protected] ▪ Abstract Humans skin is the most visible aspect of the human phenotype. It is distinguished mainly by its *** appearance, greatly enhanced abilities to dissipate body heat through sweating, and the great range of genetically determined skin colors present within a single species. Many aspects of the evolution of human skin and skin color can be reconstructed using comparative anatomy, physiology, and genomics. Enhancement of thermal sweating was a key innovation in human evolution that allowed maintenance of homeostasis (including constant brain temperature) during sustained physical activity in hot environments. Dark skin evolved pari passu with the loss of body hair and was the original state for the genus Homo. Melanin pigmentation is adaptive and has been maintained by natural selection. Because of its evolutionary lability, skin color phenotype is useless as a unique marker of genetic identity. In recent ...

  • Borderline Personality Disorder Patient Therapy Notes Dal is an attractive young woman but seems to be unable to maintain a stable sense of self-worth and self-esteem. Her confidence in her ability to "hold on to men" is at a low ebb, having just parted ways with "the love of her life". In the last year alone she confesses to having had six "serious relationships". Why did they end? "Irreconcilable differences". The commencement of each affair was "a dream come true" and the men were all and one "Prince Charming". But then she invariably found herself in the stormy throes of violent fights over seeming trifles. She tried to "hang on there", but the more she invested in the relationships, the more distant and "vicious" her partners became. Finally, they abandoned her, claiming that they are being "suffocated by her clinging and drama queen antics." • Narcissism: Multiple Personality Disorder/Dissociative Identity Disorder? In Multiple Personality Disorder (Dissociative Identity Disorder, or DID), the emotions are segregated into personality-like internal constructs ("entities"). The notion of "unique separate multiple whole personalities" is primitive and untrue. DID is a continuum. The inner language breaks down into polyglot chaos. In DID, emotions cannot communicate with each other for fear of provoking overwhelming pain (and its fatal consequences). So, they are being kept apart by various mechanisms (a host or birth personality, a facilitator, a moderator and so on). All personality disorders involve a modicum of dissociation. But the narcissistic solution is to emotionally disappear altogether. Hence, the tremendous, insatiable need of the narcissist for external approval. He exists only as a reflection. Since he is forbidden to love his true self -- he chooses to have no self at all. It is not dissociation -- it is a vanishing act. NPD is a total, "pure" solution: self-extinguishing, self-abolishing, entirely fake. Other personality disorders are diluted variations on the themes of self-hate and perpetuated self-abuse. HPD is NPD with *** and body as the source of the Narcissistic Supply. The Borderline Personality Disorder involves lability, the movement between poles of life wish and death wish and so on. • Narcissistic Abuser Cons System Mental Health Pros are amenable to the considerable charm, persuasiveness, and manipulativeness of the abuser and to his impressive thespian skills. The abuser offers a plausible rendition of the events and interprets them to his favor. The therapist rarely has a chance to witness an abusive exchange first hand and at close quarters. In contrast, the abused are often on the verge of a nervous breakdown: harassed, unkempt, irritable, impatient, abrasive, and hysterical. Confronted with this contrast between a polished, self-controlled, and suave abuser and his harried casualties -- it is easy to reach the conclusion that the real victim is the abuser, or that both parties abuse each other equally. The prey's acts of self-defense, assertiveness, or insistence on her rights are interpreted as aggression, lability, or a mental health problem. The profession's propensity to pathologize extends to the wrongdoers as well. Alas, few therapists are equipped to do proper clinical work, including diagnosis. • Eating Disorders and Personality Disorders When a patient has a personality disorder and an eating disorder, the therapist would do well to first tackle the eating disorder. Personality disorders are intricate and intractable. They are rarely curable (though certain aspects, like obsessive-compulsive behaviours, or depression can be ameliorated with medication or modified). The treatment of personality disorders requires enormous, persistent and continuous investment of resources of every kind by everyone involved. From the patient's point of view, the treatment of her personality disorder is not an efficient allocation of scarce mental resources. Neither are personality disorders the real threat. If one's personality disorder is cured but one's eating disorders are left untouched, one might die (though mentally healthy)... An eating disorder is both a signal of distress ("I wish to die, I feel so bad, somebody help me") and a message: "I think I lost control. I am very afraid of losing control. I will control my food intake and discharge. This way I can control at least ONE aspect of my life." This is where we can and should begin to help the patient - by letting her regain control of her life. The family or other supporting figures must think what they can do to make the patient feel that she is in control, that she is managing things her own way, that she is contributing, has her own schedules, her own agenda, and that she, her needs, preferences, and choices matter. (From thebook "Malignant Self-love ...

  • ~No Triggers!~Borderline Personality Disorder is EXTREME spiritual warfare! LOVE NEVER FAILS! A native American grandfather was talking to his grandson about how he felt. He said "I feel as if I have two wolves fighting in my heart. One wolf is the vengeful, angry, violent one. The other wolf is the loving, compassionate one." The grandson asked him, which wolf will win the fight in your heart? The grandfather answered: "The one I feed." Let love win. People with borderline personality disorder are EXTREME. We have extreme love and extreme...hate. There is a way to live in a world of pain and suffering and NOT lose in the battle, the Bible teaches us how. BPD is not just a disorder, it's EXTREME spiritual warfare. Music by Extol from their album Synergy 1 Corinthians 13 1 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing. 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will ...

  • What should an expecting mother anticipate during and after pregnancy? There is a lot of emotional changes during and after pregnancy and even leading up to pregnancy. I like to tell my patients the main hormones of pregnancy, estrogen and progesterone, effect all throughout your body getting them ready for pregnancy. It effects bones, bowel, heart, breast, but it also effects the brain. I tell my patients dad's going to love a baby, moms bond with the baby. Those hormones are meant to increase emotional attachment. The question is do they create emotions or do they make you feel emotions that are there more intensely. I personally think they make you feel emotions that are already there more intensely. Depending on what's going on in your life, what's going on in relationships in your life, what's going on at work, those kind of things. You can expect a lot more emotional lability, ups and downs, because of what the emotions do based upon what the hormones do during pregnancy.
  • Dr Manfred Doepp the missing evolutionary concept in todays Medicine Dr Manfred Doepp beim Inergetix Seminar PART 4 Evolution represents the involvement of god or the Gods to develop the Universe or the Universes via more and more EXPERIENCE, no matter whether we see it as positive or negative. TO accumulate a treasure chest of experience (information) that cannot be deleted anymore. God alone could not have created this experience as it lacking the interference possibility which is the basis for DLE. Dynamic Equilibrium is nice but without LABILITY there is no evolution. Evolution needs the permanent change, it need climatic changes, it needs the magnetic shift. If evolution goes too slowly it needs catastrophic events and here the universe has a great repertoire at hand. Economic collapse and wars will be necessary in order to bring again the dynamic component in Evolution that it can continue with a new DLE. Kiran : Thank you that you dear Dr Doepp that could make this ad-hoc presentation. I see this as a resonance phenomenon that I attract people that have the same understanding. It is important to make dis-order possible as well as to understand that there is a upper limit. The science of the 21st century will be to study chaos, so we do not have to be so afraid of it anymore. A first quantitative approach is to see the different distribution forms of chaos as Dr Doepp did here. In the CoRe system I have another way to get measure for chaos. CoRe searches for repeating pattern that occur in a sea of random pattern. This is what we do ...

  • Lalkar (The Challenge) (1972)Army histrionics as you have never seen before! Histrionic personality disorder Classification and external resources ICD-10 F60.4 ICD-9 301.50 MeSH D006677 Histrionic personality disorder (HPD) is defined by the American Psychiatric Association as a personality disorder characterized by a pattern of excessive emotionality and attention-seeking, including an excessive need for approval and inappropriate seductiveness, usually beginning in early adulthood. These individuals are lively, dramatic, enthusiastic, and flirtatious. They may be inappropriately ***ually provocative, express strong emotions with an impressionistic style, and be easily influenced by others. Associated features may include egocentricity, self-indulgence, continuous longing for appreciation, feelings that are easily hurt, and persistent manipulative behaviour to achieve own needs. Histrionic personality disorder shares a divergent history with conversion disorder and somatization disorder. Historically, they are linked to the ancient notion of hysteria, or "wandering womb."[citation needed] (Note, however, that according to the Online Etymology Dictionary, the word "histrionic" derives not from the Greek hystera, but from the Latin histrionicus, "pertaining to an actor.") Ancient Greeks thought that excessive emotionality in women was caused by a displaced uterus and ***ual discontent. Christian ascetics during the Middle Ages blamed women's mental problems on witchcraft, ***ual hunger, moral weakness, and demonic possession. By ...
  • Labile: Borderline Personality Disorder and Narcissism Like both narcissists and psychopaths, borderlines are impulsive and reckless. Like histrionics, their ***ual conduct is promiscuous, driven, and unsafe. Many borderlines binge eat, gamble, drive, and shop carelessly, and are substance abusers. Lack of impulse control is joined with self-destructive and self-defeating behaviors, such as suicidal ideation, suicide attempts, gestures, or threats, and self-mutilation or self-injury. The main dynamic in the Borderline Personality Disorder is abandonment anxiety. Like codependents, borderlines attempt to preempt or prevent abandonment (both real and imagined) by their nearest and dearest. They cling frantically and counterproductively to their partners, mates, spouses, friends, children, or even neighbors. This fierce attachment is coupled with idealization and then swift and merciless devaluation of the borderline's target. Borderline Personality Disorder, which is characterized by impulsive and self destructive behavior, emotional lability, and unstable interpersonal relationships; often results in homelessness due to inability to maintain employment and a social support network. Thats not to say that the fighter in question in this case, borderline men couldnt have continued or even come back and won the fight. Maybe he could have. But look at him up there... What is your problem?... response at that moment? It wont change a loss to a win in the life books, but at least youll have a case when you go to complain about it later. For what thats worth.

  • My Life with Lyme disease It's hard to give an accurate view of my symptoms and experience, when so many true statements might seem contradictory: -Yes, I am getting better. -No, I do not have more energy now than I had last year (in certain ways I am worse off now). -Some symptoms get better, some symptoms get worse. Same with infections--some are going away, some are worse, depending on what I'm focusing on treating. -I have more pain and fatigue now, but less cognitive impairment, probably due to herxing and reducing bacterial loads. -Yes, it is normal to take years to recover from tick-borne infections. Treatment is tailored to the individual, and the infections are hard to eradicate. -Yes, I will most likely recover or go into remission to the point of being mostly healthy. Many people who were much worse off than I am have recovered. -No, I cannot work right now. I have tried out doing some work from home, even things that I could do on my own schedule, but it did not go well and I am not able to perform at that level. Things that are much easier than work (such as leaving the house on my own, getting dressed sometimes, or talking on the phone to a friend) are prohibitively difficult for me. -It is more than enough work for me to feed and take care of myself. It feels like more than I can do, and I wish someone would cook for me and do my grocery shopping, but the people in my life work long hours and can't do these things for me, so I do the cooking and cleaning myself. -Major symptoms ...
