Watervliet Arsenal Museum Machine Shop We are Springfield Arsenal LLC. Visit our webstore: Bob Pfeil of Watervliet Arsenal Museum guides a small group though the antique, belt-driven machinery in the museum. Machines demonstrated include a drill press, stamping machine, shaper, horizontal mill, lathe, planer, and grinder. At the end, a very large shaper is shown but not run. More machines are being restored so they too can be demonstrated. The museum's operating collection of antique metalworking machines demonstrates how objects were made over a century ago.,

Axminster Carver's Vice This is a general purpose carving vice which offers a combination of ruggedness, versatility, ease of use and low cost. The body and base are made from cast iron and the mounting plate and other components are steel. Particular attention has been paid to the rigidity of the mounting plate and its stem which can be a source of flexing on less well made vices. The 125mm diameter mounting plate has 16 holes for the mounting screws, arranged in 3 concentric circles. The combination of heavy duty steel clamping handle, knurling on the shaft and serrations on the clamping faces ensures that nothing will move under onslaught from the mallet. The height excluding the mounting plate is 200mm.

Fenix E01 AAA Flashlight Here's a quick look at the Fenix E01 LED flashlight. Overall, I highly recommend the light. It's rated at 10 lumens, although lightbox readings suggest it may actually be closer to 8. The light functions at peak capacity for 11 hours thanks to its regulated circuitry and then another 10 hours at decreased brightness. The beam quality is somewhat mediocre since the hotspot is rather purple tinted, but that's to be expected from the 5mm Nichia GS LED. It uses a twist switch for one handed operation. The finish is type III hard-anodized to minimize scratches, although regular use on a keychain will most likely result in some degree of paint chipping. Both the body and bezel have knurling for facilitated grip. There is no glass cover in front of the LED. The light comes with extra o-rings and the threads feel well lubricated out of the box. I would recommend this light as a backup or for keychain use. It makes for an excellent gift. You can buy one from for $15 shipped with USPS Priority mail. The E01 comes in five color varieties: Black, olive, purple, gold, and blue. Here's the link: www.fenix- Due to its low cost, compact size, above average runtime, and excellent workmanship, I give the E01 a 9 out of 10. Just keep in mind that this light is not very bright and was not designed for accurate color rendition.
How Not To Do A Snatch An attempt in changing my snatch pull results in a painful mistate! Early in my snatch workout as I was working on tweaking my technique, I somehow met the center knurling of the bar with my forehead in two spots while the bar was going up and I just started my descent. So much for keeping the bar as close to the body as possible! But I still went on to make a PR! Good thing I'm hard headed!

BTM thermal break equipment knurling machine In order to achieve high shear values, a good knurling of the aluminium extrusion's cavity is very important. Therefore, while the extrusion is fed through the machine, the knurling is done by the use of hardened knurling wheels. Upgradeable to CNC machine.

Demonstrating the Dream Cutter UPDATE: Please visit to see the re-engineered Mini-Lathe Dream Cutter. Its a radical departure from traditional lathe accessories that is certain to raise the bar as to what can be done with a mini-lathe. Why Limit Your Dreams? Spyderco Tenacious & Kershaw Skyline First Impressions My first impressions of the Spyderco Tencaious and the Kershaw Skyline knives. They are the first Spyderco and Kershaw knives I have the privilege of owning; mainly due to their outstanding price point ($30.10 & $25 from Amazon). Overall, the Tenacious is wider and seems more durable than the Skyline. The Skyline is sleek and trim, which it seem more like an 'executive's knife'. I'm not that good at opening the Skyline because I lack the experience with the flipper design. The Tenacious opens flawlessly for me! The Tenacious has a very nice grip, especially because it has the very useful thumb knurling, whereas the skyline has no knurling whatsoever for thumb traction.
Comp. Cycle W5 S1 (9/1/2009) Comp. Cycle W5 S1 (9/1/2009) Squat is closer to the rack since Cap'n Kirk told me to limit my set-up to 3 steps; something that I wasn't that cognizant of for quite awhile until now. This will come handy when I give 474 squat a ride. Didn't get a great grip on the 2nd DL, will be more aware of it next time. I am using a 29 mm bar with smooth knurling so I will have the advantage come meet time where the bar will most likely be under 29 mm with fresh knurling.
Fenix LD20: Everything Torch Improved! Upgraded and improved, the Fenix LD20 is an evolutionary progession of the still-excellent but discontinued Fenix L2D AA-cell flashlight. The L2D has proven itself to be a reliable and bright lighting companion for me and my associates for many months now. Its successor, the LD20, builds on its proven formula of a sensible User Interface (UI), an efficient and bright Cree 7090 XR-E LED, excellent build quality, and a small and lightweight form factor that can fit into any system (LE, Civ, Mil, Medical, Firefighter, etc). Weighing only 3.2 ounces with rechargeable Sanyo Eneloop cells (and even lighter with lithium AAs!), the LD20 is an invisible carry along until you need it. Improvements over the L2D include better knurling, protective ears on the tail cap, elongated lanyard slots on tail cap, anti-roll bezel, and an improved reflector that projects the beam further with more culmination. Extensive water testing in the new "Nutnfancy Water Barrel" (NWB!) at 3 ft depth, in both dynamic and static conditions, showed the Fenix LD20 to be completely watertight and fully operative underwater. Ergos on the light remain friendly: a slender barrel is easy to grasp and find in the dark, it carries well, and lends itself to a cigar hold for combat pisolcraft. Versatility is superb and Model shown is a regular LD20 and the LD20 Plus features a useful pocket clip. Other upsides include: fits in a military flight suit knife pocket, can function as a kubaton defensive tool, waterproof ...
Fenix PD10 LED Flashlight Review The PD10 from Fenix is a twisty (twist the head to turn it on) LED light that puts out a lot of light on a single CR123 battery. The PD10 features three modes that suit any situation, with the high being plenty to light up everything in front of you. Generous knurling on the body ensures that you will have trouble losing your grip on the light.
