In order to understand this series, it is imperative to read the following work of Lokamanya Bâl Gangâdhar Tilak THE ARCTIC HOME IN THE VEDAS @ -That human races have preserved their ancient traditions is undoubted, though some or many of them may have become distorted in course of time, and it is for us to see if they do or do not accord with what we know of the ancient man from latest scientific researches. In the case of the Vedic traditions and beliefs, we have the further advantage that they were collected thousands of years ago, and handed down unchanged from that remote time. It is, therefore, not unlikely that we may find traces of the primeval Polar home in these oldest books. If the Aryan man did live within the Arctic circle in early times, especially as a portion of the Ṛig-Veda & Mahabharata is still admittedly unintelligible on any of the existing methods of interpretation, although the words and expressions are plain and simple in many places. • Purusha Suktam RigVed With Subtitles The Purusha Suktam is one of the Pancha Suktams of the Sri Vaishnava sampradaya or tradition. The other four are the Narayana Suktam, Sri Suktam, Bhu Suktam, and the Nila Suktam. The Purusha Suktam is seen earliest in the Rig Veda, as the 90th Suktam of its 10th mandalam, with 16 mantrams. Later, it is seen in the Vajasaneyi Samhita of the Shukla Yajur Vedam, the Taittriya Aranyaka of the Krishna Yajur Vedam, the Sama Veda, and the Atharvana Veda, with some modifications and redactions. The Purusha in the title of the Purusha Sukta refers to the Parama Purusha, Purushottama, Narayana, in his form as the ViraaT Purusha. He was the source of all creation. It describes this form of his, as having countless heads, eyes, legs, manifested everywhere, and beyond the scope of any limited method of comprehension. All creation is but a fourth part of him. The rest is unmanifested. Purusha as Brahma remained inactive, and Aniruddha Narayana, one of the four aspects of Narayana in the first tier at the base of the Vishaaka Yoopa, asked him ``Why do you do nothing?'' ``Because of not knowing,'' Brahma replied. ``Perform a yajna. Your senses, the devas, shall be the ritviks. Your body shall be the havis. Your heart, the altar. And I shall be he who enjoys the havis -- the offering. From your body sacrificed, shall you create bodies for all living creatures, as you have done in kalpas before this.'' Thus says the sAkalya brAmhaNA. The objection to Purusha Sukta is that it advocates ...

  • Tandava Dance Project For more information goto This is small Experimental Dance Project we made in mid march 2009. The Dance form is contemporary mixed with traditional art form. Performed by Veena Basavarajaih and Directed and conceptualized by Swaroop Kanchi. The version up is still a sort of a demo version with unfinished & demo sound. Synopsis Kalpa in sanskrit is one aeon. Several million years make one Kalpa, Several kalpas make one mahakalpa. From the beginning of creation till destruction or Pralaya is one Maha Kalpa. It is said that existence is goes through innumerable Mahakalpas. Continously creating and destroying several million universe of universes. This is the dance of the cosmos, TANDAVA. This constant flux of creation and destruction, over and over and over again. But who experiences this dance. There needs to be an entity. This dance Project is an experiment trying to express life through the eyes of the being in whom the ego is born. From pristine pure stillness Desire is born. Desire for the world. Differentiation arises. Maya or ignorance takes hold. The dance follows the story from the birth of the ego till its cessation back into the being, The natural state. Kalpa means Aeon, but it also means order. Vikalpa means conception-the birth of the ego kalpana means imagination or illusion savikalpa means experiencing the concept in its purity Nirvikalpa means going beyond mind, ego and all conceptions Thus is the journey.

  • Kalpa, Yuga And Manvantara - Divisions Of Time In Hinduism Division Hinduism perceives time as cyclical based on our own experience of days and nights. We see this cyclical pattern in all divisions of time from days to epochs. Time is a never ending cyclical process which is both repetetive and exhaustive. In a sense time is limited. In another it is eternal. from a spiritual perspective time exists when we are in a state of duality, but disappears when we enter into a state of unity or samadhi. Each time cycle has three components, sristhti or creation, sthithi or continuation and laya or dissolution. They are under the control of the trinity namely Brahma, Vishnu and Siva. We can see the same divisions in a day also, In life we see them as childhood, adulthood and oldage. The Hindu calculation of time comes to us from the sage Ganita. He calculated the duration of each cycle in human years. He divided the cosmic time into Kalpas of 8.64 trillion years each, which is a day and night in the time and space of Brahman. Each kalpa is further divided into 100 mahayugas. Each mahayuga is again divided into four yugas namely Krita yuga, Treta yuga, Dwapara yuga and Kali yuga. Their duration vary. Krita is the longest and kali yuga the shortest. A day in the life of gods is equal to a year upon earth. It is divided into a day and night, known as uttarayana and dakshninayana. They are equal to 180 days each. There is another division of time known as Manvantara which is euqal to the period during which the earth is ruled by one particular ...

In the Emerging from the Earth chapter, a multitude of bodhisattvas who had not been seen previously in the more than forty years of the Buddhas preaching life suddenly appear, and the Buddha says, I taught and converted them, and caused them for the first time to set their minds on the way. Bodhisattva Maitreya, puzzled by this announcement, says: [World-Honored One], when the Thus Come One was crown prince, you left the palace of the Shakyas and sat in the place of meditation not far from the city of Gaya, and there attained supreme perfect enlightenment. Barely forty years or more have passed since then. World-Honored One, how in that short time could you have accom-plished so much work as a Buddha? • VEDAS & HUMAN DNA I - MAHABHARATA: ARYANS & ARYAN GODS - 2 MAHABHARATA: THE CRADLE OF HUMAN RACE IS AT THE NORTH POLE. The authority for the statement is Manu, I, 67. While describing the divisions of time it says, A year (human) is a day and a night of the Gods; thus are the two divided, the northern passage of the sun is the day and the southern the night.* The day and the night of the Gods are then taken as a unit for measuring longer periods of time as the Kalpas and so on, and Yâskas Nirukta, XIV, 4, probably contains the same reference. • Purush Sukta by Vedshashtra Sampanna Pandit Shankarrao Bhokardankar Please see transcript at Hindu religious sources are classified as ``Sruti'' or ``smRti''. Sruti -- that which is heard -- is of the nature of divine revelation. We believe that the Vedas, hymns composed by seers and sages beginning as best as we can date them in 3000 BC, were sung under divine inspiration. This is why they are Sruti. These sages ``heard'' them as the voice of the Divine. Only two bodies of hymns are recognized as divinely composed. One being the Vedas, and the other, the Thiruvaaymozhi of Kaari Maaran Sadagopan, or Sri Nammaazhvaar, which are recognized as equivalent to the 4 Vedas in the Ubhaya Vedanta school, the Sri Vaishnava tradition. The six compositions of Kaliyan Neelan, or Sri Thirumangai Aazhvaar, are recognized as the 6 vedAngas. [Note: ubhaya vedAnta refers to the twofold vedAnta, seen through the two eyes of the Sanskrit Upanishads and the Tamil Divya Prabandham. They are of paramount and equal authority to Sri Vaishnavas.] SmRti is that which is remembered, and includes a large part of the commentary of the Vedas, different Puranas, epics, and other sources. The Purusha Suktam is one of the Pancha Suktams of the Sri Vaishnava sampradaya or tradition. The other four are the Narayana Suktam, Sri Suktam, Bhu Suktam, and the Nila Suktam. The Purusha Suktam is seen earliest in the Rg Veda, as the 90th Suktam of its 10th mandalam, with 16 mantrams. Later, it is seen in the Vajasaneyi Samhita of the Shukla Yajur Vedam, the ...

  • PRABHUPADA:RARE COLOR FILM:BOMBAY PANDAL 1971 CALCUTTA 1973 Bhagavad-gita As It Is 8.17 Purport: Attaining the Supreme: The duration of the material universe is limited. It is manifested in cycles of kalpas. A kalpa is a day of Brahma, and one day of Brahma consists of a thousand cycles of four yugas or ages: Satya, Treta, Dvapara, and Kali. The cycle of Satya is characterized by virtue, wisdom and religion, there being practically no ignorance and vice, and the yuga lasts 1728000 years. In the Treta-yuga vice is introduced, and this yuga lasts 1296000 years. In the Dvapara-yuga there is an even greater decline in virtue and religion, vice increasing, and this yuga lasts 864000 years. And finally in Kali-yuga (the yuga that we have now been experiencing over the past 5000 years) there is an abundance of strife, ignorance, irreligion and vice, true virtue being practically nonexistent, and this yuga lasts 432000 years. In Kali-yuga vice increases to such a point that at the termination of the yuga the Supreme Lord Himself appears as the Kalki avatara, vanquishes the demons, saves His devotees, and commences another Satya-yuga. Then the process is set rolling again. These four yugas, rotating a thousand times, comprise one day of Brahma, the creator god, and the same number comprise one night. Brahma lives one hundred of such "years" and then dies. These "hundred years" by earth calculations total to 311 trillion and 40 million earth years. By these calculations the life of Brahma seems fantastic and ...
