The Mushroom Singdom # 35 April 28th Two words, 1 game, buy it. DOUBLE DRAGON! Notice the interesting 3 juxtapositions. The original game music, reinterpreted, the game, and a Michael Jackson song. Wow!

That's What They Say This is a song I wrote called That's What They Say. I know the words are weird, but tolerate them. I was going through kind of a hard time artistically. (And plus, they're supposed to be weird because I like the somewhat nonsensical juxtapositions.) I also know my voice doesn't sound very good on this track. This is partly because I was giving it a totally different feel, vocally. (Plus I was experimenting vocally at the time, to see what other things I could do with my voice.)

Advanced Pole Dancing at Denver's TranZenDance Studio Dancing was set to Tori Amos' version of, "Smells Like *** Spirit," followed by IIeee. Given the copyright issues with one or both of these songs, these songs were audio-swapped for a classical piece by Tchaikovsky. A few unusual juxtapositions, perhaps, including black boots and violins. Floor moves (including shoulder balance and kip-up) fit better with this score than the pole work. Pole work in this video includes and a few additional arm balances, rib-cage grips/holds, transitions, and descents.

Ch4 Slumming It: Episode 1 ¦ 480p [1/4] As part of Channel 4's Indian Winter season, Kevin McCloud discovers a world of curious juxtapositions in one of the most extreme urban environments on earth: Dharavi, Mumbai. Having heard bigwig architects, planners and even Prince Charles claiming that Dharavi has the answers to some of the biggest problems facing our Western cities, Kevin embarks on a journey to lift the lid on this place himself. With a million people crammed into one square mile, Dharavi is one of the most densely populated places on earth. It is also one of Asia's biggest slums. As a way of experiencing the good and bad of Dharavi first hand, Kevin decides to live, work, sleep, eat and wash there, and he's terrified at the prospect of doing so. In the first programme, as Kevin enters Dharavi he finds open sewers, rats and hazardous chemicals everywhere. However, he also discovers that it is a highly organised place with thousands of tiny industries. To understand Dharavi, Kevin fully immerses himself in the environment, living and working with the locals, sampling life in the pottery area and discovering the extraordinary sense of spirit and community despite the hardships. He explores this industrious square mile, meeting bakers, cobblers and suitcase manufacturers, all thriving as part of the 15000 one-room industries contained in this slum. But, despite the area's apparent successes, Kevin finds Dharavi is to be redeveloped and razed to the ground.

Cross-Urban Creativity As the world moves toward a global urbanism and centers issues of sustainability and international collaboration, cities are not so much planned as replanned and reborn. Qingyun Ma, dean of the USC School of Architecture, will moderate a conversation with city planners and administrators from four landmark cities: Gail Goldberg from Los Angeles, Felipe Leal from Mexico City, Jiang Wu from Shanghai and Richard Cohen from London. They will discuss the present and future of urban planning in the flux of unpredictable, migrant forces and the shaping of iconic, livable cities. From the density of London to the sprawl of Los Angeles and the expanding megacities of Mexico City and Shanghai, the juxtapositions of cultural, political and spatial differences will demonstrate how creative agents can transform a city physically and socially. Moderated by Scott Lash Visions and Voices is a university-wide arts and humanities initiative unparalleled in higher education. The initiative was established by Provost CL Max Nikias in order to fulfill the goals set forth in USCs strategic plan; to communicate USCs core values to students; and to affirm the human spirit. Highlighting USCs excellence in the arts and humanities, the initiative provides a unique, inspiring and provocative experience for all USC students, regardless of discipline, and challenges them to become world-class citizens who will eagerly make a positive impact throughout the world.

Ferrero Rocher Fine Milk Hazelnut Chocolate Unwrapping And Taste Test Review You got hazelnuts in my hazelnut! You beautiful geniuses! Packaging 10/10 Just look at the design of this packaging, good gravy almighty. First off, it literally looks like nuggets of gold. The people who made this probably want you to think you're indulging in nuggets of GOLD. Yes, it is incredible to say the least, but the fun doesn't stop there. I love the whimsical description on the back, they tell us a nice spinning yarn of a tale complemented by some oh-so- quaint pictures. Actually, it reminded me of Amsterdam, what a wonderful place that is. Not to mention, and this is truly a rarity in the candy wrapping world, everything is color coordinated. You don't see wild juxtapositions of colors like you do in countless other candy bars. These colors are calm, relaxed, elegant, and remind me so much of hazelnuts my gray matter turns into Nutella. It's like eating candy from the old country. I remember getting little Wrether's original candies from my bus driver when I was a kid. Looking back at how disturbing that was, I probably wouldn't have minded as much if they were these bouillons of joy. Taste, Texture, and Consistency 10/10 I'm on the floor. Flabbergasted and aroused in places that no human being to date has ever been stimulated. It gave me a triple crunch, first the outside chopped hazelnuts, then the inside wafer shell, then finally the big kahuna itself, the whole hazelnut. When that final crunch hits you, all within a few seconds, your problems cease to exist ...

Avatar Remix - AVATAR (Anglos Valiantly Aiding Tragic Awe-inspiring Races) AVATAR (Anglos Valiantly Aiding Tragic Awe-inspiring Races) is a fast‐paced media mashup that highlights the overplayed racial tropes of Hollywood cinema using James Cameron's multimillion‐dollar epic Avatar as its visual anchor. The hilarious visual juxtapositions and accompanying soundtrack of baffling one‐liners spliced together from seven*** films are both a humorous jab at racism in our supposedly liberal popular culture, as well as a media literacy tool for deconstructing how whiteness and Other-ness is portrayed in mainstream films about humanitarian crises. This piece builds on our previous work, 300 Epithets, that ***yzes the archetypes used in the nationalist right-wing film, 300.

Juxtapositions AKA Psychedelic Fairground Music My final piece for the electro-acoustic music course during my first year of BMus at Birmingham University. I wrote it because it made me laugh. The piece juxtaposes, enhances, and blends together three smaller pieces: 'Okay', 'Autumn' and 'Spring' which were composed separately beforehand. The AKA title was my tutor's. The various sounds were processed and assembled using Cool Edit tools. I apologise for the shaky camerawork and for the fuzzy audio. It's simply that I was unable to upload the original music file, so filmed iTunes playing it with a suitably silly picture as a background.

Lee Friedlander: America by Car (DAP/Fraenkel, 2010) Lee Friedlander: America by Car Published by DAP/Fraenkel Enduring icons of American culture, the car and the highway remain vital as auguries of adventure and discovery, and a means by which to take in the country's vast scale. Lee Friedlander is the first photographer to make the car an actual "form" for making photographs. Driving across most of the country's 50 states in an ordinary rental car, Friedlander applied the brilliantly simple conceit of deploying the sideview mirror, rearview mirror, the windshield and the side windows as a picture frame within which to record the country's eccentricities and obsessions at the turn of the century. This method allows for fascinating effects in foreshortening, and wonderfully telling juxtapositions in which steering wheels, dashboards and leatherette bump up against roadside bars, motels, churches, monuments, suspension bridges, landscapes and often Friedlander's own image, via sideview mirror shots. Presented in the square crop format that has dominated his look in recent series, and taken over the past decade, the nearly 200 images in America by Car are easily among Friedlander's finest, full of virtuoso touch and clarity, while also revisiting themes from older bodies of work (Friedlander occasionally used aspects of automotive architecture in photographs from the late 1960s and early 1970s). Never has America been photographed so penetratingly and ingeniously as in Friedlander's latest body of work. This edition of ...

I'm Believing (in love again) ~ The Sunshine Factory The Sunshine Factory exists on a foundation of juxtapositions. Here is a band from the Gulf Coast of the US channeling the spirits of late '80s/early'90s UK Thames Valley subversion -- two seemingly disparate environments. Band founder Ian Taylor, worked solo until 2010 then added vocalist/bassist Sally Robertson, Ian sought inspiration from a variety of sources -- including the engrossing and mystical Byzantine chant music he enjoyed with his Eastern Orthodox upbringing. Ian was first drawn to the energy of punk and metal as a young ***. As he grew into his late ***s, Ian began looking for something more. He discovered that same intensity and more in shoegaze and psychedelic music and as they say, the rest is history! While true to the cannon of shoegaze and psychedelia, The Sunshine Factory infuses the foundational aspects of these genres with diffuse elements from the mellotron-laden paisley underground to ancient chants. The Sunshine Factory weaves these mosaic tapestries as they continue their serendipitous journey of juxtaposition. The music is resplendent with whammified sonic assaults, electronic flourishes, and classic psychedelic instrumentation. The Sunshine Factory is at the same time fulfilling the dreams of shoegazers past and blazing new trails into the future. They are playing their part in a wonderful and ever expanding movement of sight and sound.

Jeffrey Shaw: Legible City, Responsive Environment 1988-91 -----------Category: Pioneers of MediaArt----------- In The Legible City the visitor is able to ride a stationary bicycle through a simulated representation of a city that is constituted by computer-generated three-dimensional letters that form words and sentences along the sides of the streets. Using the ground plans of actual cities - Manhattan, Amsterdam and Karlsruhe - the existing architecture of these cities is completely replaced by textual formations written and compiled by Dirk Groeneveld. Travelling through these cities of words is consequently a journey of reading; choosing the path one takes is a choice of texts as well as their spontaneous juxtapositions and conjunctions of meaning. The handlebar and pedals of the interface bicycle give the viewer interactive control over direction and speed of travel. The physical effort of cycling in the real world is gratuitously transposed into the virtual environment, affirming a conjunction of the active body in the virtual domain. A video projector is used to project the computer-generated image onto a large screen. Another small monitor screen in front of the bicycle shows a simple ground plan of each city, with an indicator showing the momentary position of the cyclist. More info:www.jeffrey-

SURREALISM Surrealism is a cultural movement that began in the early 1920s, and is best known for the visual artworks and writings of the group members. Surrealist works feature the element of surprise, unexpected juxtapositions and non sequitur; however, many Surrealist artists and writers regard their work as an expression of the philosophical movement first and foremost, with the works being an artifact. Leader André Breton was explicit in his assertion that Surrealism was above all a revolutionary movement. Surrealism developed out of the Dada activities of World War I and the most important center of the movement was Paris. From the 1920s on, the movement spread around the globe, eventually affecting the visual arts, literature, film, and music, of many countries and languages, as well as political thought and practice, philosophy and social theory.

Sy Gresser Statement: Sy Gresser believes that art celebrates human existence on a spiritual level and transcends the ideas of religion- any religion as well as the ideas of race.? He feels that his sculpture have a universality of line and form mixed with what he calls, " impossible juxtapositions." Of his work he is fond of saying, " when I look at a stone if I capture some human warmth and sense of meaning, I feel I have been successful. That is all I ask" However, with regards to his most recent series entitled "Hominids" and "Tribal Faces", he has more to say. "These sculptures comprise a faith in image, a sense of belonging to all conscious matter that began long before our measurements of time.As image, tracings of humanoid form exist throughout the works, some easily visible, some more dependent on the imagination. They are not meant to convey beauty or race in the formal aesthetic perception, as much as they are meant to convey a shared heritage of who we were and who we have become through a literal invasion of relationships; of finding correspondences throughout the interchange that occur when we see others and thus ourselves and even more so the reverse of what happens when we become aware of the tangibles that exist throughout human continuity. The impact of these stone carvings is the structure that has come to define the extensions of my having been in the world of now." Biography: Sy Gresser has been sculpting in stone and wood for over 50 years. He was groomed ...
