BART Cop Johannes Mehserle Who Killed Oscar Grant Takes Stand In Murder Trial Former BART police Officer Johannes Mehserle took the witness stand at his murder trial Thursday, describing himself as an unaggressive cop who initially used words to try to defuse a confrontation that ended with him fatally shooting Oscar Grant. Mehserle had been silent about the episode at Oakland's Fruitvale Station for a year and a half, even as he quit his job and became the first Bay Area officer to be charged with murder in the line of duty, even as videos of the shooting circulated on television and the Internet, and even as angry protesters took to the streets. Mehserle never spoke to BART police detectives or to internal affairs officers, and he didn't testify at his preliminary hearing last year. But just before 3 pm Thursday in a downtown courtroom, his attorney, Michael Rains, stood up and said, "Johannes Mehserle." Wearing a gray suit, blue shirt and red tie, Mehserle, 28, testified for an hour and 20 minutes before the day's session ended. By that time, he had not yet been asked why he shot Grant and had not directly addressed what his attorney says was the explanation for the killing - that Mehserle confused his pistol with his Taser and shot Grant by mistake. Mehserle's testimony is set to resume today, when he is also likely to face a contentious cross-examination from prosecutor David Stein. Mehserle seemed comfortable, smiling often and looking directly at jurors, though he said he had testified just a handful of times - mostly over traffic tickets he ...
Johannes Heesters - Man müsste Klavier spielen können This song, composed by Friedrich Schröder for the the movie "Immer nur Du", became the signature song of singer/actor Johannes Heesters... "Immer nur Du", starring Johannes Heesters and Dora Komar is a film-operatta/musical/screwball comedy with elaborate musical numbers and some very funny moments... When famed movie stars Will Hollers and Loni Carell star in the new operetta "Immer nur Du", their enormous egos clash instantly. Interference of their respective managers, Fita Benkhoff and Paul Kemp makes things even more complicated... Eventually Will and Loni fall in love and get married only to have a big fight the day after they marry, when Loni finds out her husband wants her to give up her career and suspects him of having an affair... The premiere is postponed and the filming of their operetta (movie within a movie) is a tedious affair... In the end however, all is resolved. Songs from the movie are "Liebling, was wird nun aus uns beiden?", "Die ganze Welt dreht sich um Dich" and "Man müsste Klavier spielen können". There are many different versions of the song available, this is the soundtrack of Johannes Heesters and a male choir singing... Slideshow of actors from the movie, including publicity. The Belgian colour poster (from personal collection) is a post-war poster... The movie was re-released around 1950 in Belgian cinemas as "Je t'aimerai toujours (I will always love you)", it's wartime release title was "A toi...pour toujours (Yours...forever)". The two ...

Johann Strauss II - The Blue Danube Waltz Title : Johann Strauss II , The Blue Danube Waltz Date : 1867 From Wikipedia,The Blue Danube is the common English title of An der schönen blauen Donau op. 314 (On the Beautiful Blue Danube), a waltz by Johann Strauss II, composed in 1867. Originally performed 9 February 1867 at a concert of the Wiener Männergesangsverein (Vienna Men's Choral Association), it has been one of the most consistently popular pieces of music in the classical repertoire. Its initial performance was only a mild success, however, and Strauss is reputed to have said "The devil take the waltz, my only regret is for the coda -- I wish that had been a success!" The waltz originally had an accompanying song text written by Josef Weyl. Strauss adapted it into a purely orchestral version for the World's Fair in Paris that same year, and it became a great success in this form. The instrumental version is by far the most commonly performed today. An alternate text by Franz von Gernerth, Donau so blau (Danube so blue), is also used on occasion. The sentimental Viennese connotations of the piece have made it into a sort of unofficial Austrian national anthem. It is a traditional encore piece at the annual Vienna New Year's Concert. The first few bars are also the interval signal of Osterreich Rundfunk's overseas programs. It is reported by composer Norman Lloyd in his "Golden Encyclopedia of Music" that when asked by Frau Strauss for an autograph, the composer Johannes Brahms autographed Mrs. Strauss's fan ...

Johannes linstead-Cien fuegos Johannes Linstead (also known as Sevara) is an award-winning Canadian guitarist and instrumentalist that fuses virtuoso Spanish-style guitar with Afro-Cuban, Middle Eastern, and Latin American percussion and instrumentation. His recordings of world music have all charted on Billboard Magazine. In 2007, Johannes was named "Guitarist of the Year" in the prestigious Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards, and his CD, Cafe Tropical, earned a JUNO nomination for "Best Instrumental Album". Johannes began studying guitar at the age of eight, when he was given a guitar for his birthday. As he progressed, he naturally gravitated to the classical guitar, as that was the only music he was exposed to as a child. However, in his ***s he also developed a love for other styles, such as rock, flamenco, and jazz. In high school he joined the school's jazz band and won the "Musician of the Year" award - the first in a long list of awards and recognitions he has since earned. Further influences in his music come from his journeys across the globe, including India, Bahrain, Spain, Cuba, Mexico, and at least two dozen others! Having studied Kundalini yoga for many years, Johannes was bestowed the name Seva Singh or "Lion of Devotional Service" by Kundalini yoga master Yogi Bhajan. The name Sevara is derived from "Seva" meaning devotional service, and "Ra", the sun aspect which corresponds to his astrological sign. Having become a certified Kundalini Yoga instructor, he teaches whenever his tour ...

Johannes Brahms--Hungarian Dance The Hungarian Dances (German Ungarische Tänze) by Johannes Brahms (WoO 1), are a set of 21 lively dance tunes based mostly on Hungarian themes. Only numbers 11, 14 and 16 are entirely original compositions. They vary from about a minute to four minutes in length. They are among Brahms' most popular works, and were certainly the most profitable for him. Each dance has been arranged for a wide variety of instruments and ensembles. Brahms originally wrote the version for piano four-hands and later arranged the first 10 dances for solo piano. He wrote orchestral arrangements for No. 1, No. 3 and No. 10. Other composers, including Antonín Dvořák, orchestrated the other dances. The most famous Hungarian Dance is No. 5 in F♯ minor (G minor in the orchestral version).
Brahms, Hungarian Dance No. 5 Johannes Brahms Hungarian Dance No. 5 in G minor The German composer, pianist, and conductor Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) was one of the most significant composers of the 19th century. His works greatly enriched the romantic repertory.

Victor Borge (Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Frederic Chopin, Johannes Brahms, Franz Liszt, Johann Sebastian Bach, Richard Wagner, Ludwig van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johann Strauss, Irving Berlin & Modern Music) - Variations on "Happy birthday to you" Victor Borge is an enigma for me. Though many would consider him to be simply a clown, albeit a clown spoofing classical music, some of his work is, to say the least, strikingly acute and tantalizingly interesting. The present piece is proof of this. The variations form is well-known and appears in virtually any classical music period. It would seem almost impossible to do anything new with the form but Borge proves us wrong by adopting a very unusual approach. He chooses a painstakingly well-known theme, here - "Happy birthday to you", and sets about to create variations to it. But it is only the top of the iceberg: each variation is, effectually, the way a certain composer would write the theme itself. All in all, there are eleven variations of very different composers: we start by passing through Bach and Mozart and finish with Irving and some modern composer whose name I do not know (and Borge's hilarious pronunciation does not help :P). Some of these variations are preceded by a snatch on the composer's original work from which Borge then proceeds to develop the variation. Moreover, some of his variations are rather charming (Brahms or Bach (in spite of a ridiculously humorous long descending line repeated two times)) or even, dare I say it, moving (Beethoven, in spite of some goofing on Borge's part, gets one of the better treatments). I've marked the movements in the video itself but you can also check the title which includes all composers presented in the order ...

Johann Sebastian Bach - Cello suite No.1 Prelude in G - Major Just so relaxing... Johann Sebastian Bach (pronounced [joˈhan/ˈjoːhan zeˈbastjan ˈbax]) (31 March 1685 [OS 21 March] 28 July 1750) was a German composer and organist whose sacred and secular works for choir, orchestra, and solo instruments drew together the strands of the Baroque period and brought it to its ultimate maturity. Although he introduced no new forms, he enriched the prevailing German style with a robust contrapuntal technique, an unrivalled control of harmonic and motivic organisation in composition for diverse instrumentation, and the adaptation of rhythms and textures from abroad, particularly Italy and France. Revered for their intellectual depth, technical command and artistic beauty, Bach's works include the Brandenburg concertos, the Goldberg Variations, the English Suites, the French Suites, the Partitas, the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Mass in B Minor, the St. Matthew Passion, the St. John Passion, the Magnificat, The Musical Offering, The Art of Fugue, the Sonatas and Partitas for violin solo, the Cello Suites, more than 200 surviving cantatas, and a similar number of organ works, including the celebrated Toccata and Fugue in D Minor. While Bach's fame as an organist was great during his lifetime, he was not particularly well-known as a composer. His adherence to Baroque forms and contrapuntal style was considered "old-fashioned" by his contemporaries, especially late in his career when the musical fashion tended towards Rococo and later Classical ...

With "Loving", I want to embrace the whole world, because this journey to the origins of electronic dance music in between Modern Detroit, high tech Soul and House is coming from the very bottom of my heart." (Johannes Heil, 2010) What time is love? With this question, Jimmy Cauty and Bill Drummond -- better known as "The KLF" -- have officially introduced the acid-orientated second Summer of Love 1988. However, the answers to this question might be numerous as the number of people living on the earth. Some think that it is the Summer of 1967, where the Hippie movement had its peak, others may hope for the perfect love in 2525 or maybe the time of love is now, in the year 2010. Obviously, Johannes Heil belongs to the latter group. For more than fif*** years, he is an essential part of the German Techno scene and -- with his classics from the likes of "Paranoid Dancer" (Kanzleramt, 1998) or "Calling" (1999) -- belongs to the acoustic long-term memory of Techno. However, in the last few years with his releases for Klang ...
