  • Bryan's "Beautiful" Bryan Arnold has been struggling with Synovial Sarcoma since May 2006. This is a video to celebrate his Life!! Here is his story!! BryansFight My name is Bryan Arnold. I am 34 years old, married and have two wonderful children. In May of 2006, I began having pain in my upper thigh/groin area. I saw my family physician and began treatment for a pulled groin muscle. Over the next year and a half I saw my physician occasionally and even did some physical therapy. Nothing would improve my "pulled muscle." In June of 2007, I went in to the doctor on an unrelated matter and asked him to look at my thigh while I was there. He felt of my thigh and said he'd be right back. When he returned, he had the physical therapist with him and they suggested having an MRI because it felt as if I had a torn hamstring. I was very unprepared for what the MRI showed. The following Monday, I received a phone call from the doctor. He told me that I had a large tumor in my thigh and should see an orthopedic surgeon ASAP. A week later I was in the office of a Surgical Oncologist who biopsied the tumor and gave us the diagnosis of Ewings Sarcoma. He referred us to MD Anderson Smile Cancer Center for further evaluation and treatment. In July of 2007, we saw the oncologist in the Sarcoma center at MDACC and began chemotherapy the very next day. At first, they were treating me as if I had Ewings Sarcoma, but when their lab had finished reviewing the slides the official diagnosis was ...
  • Tribute to Camptosaurus. Camptosaurus is a genus of plant-eating, beaked dinosaur of the Late Jurassic and Early Cretaceous Periods. The name means 'bent lizard', because, when standing on all fours, its body must have been arched. Originally described by OC Marsh in 1879 as Camptonotus, or "bent back", it was renamed Camptosaurus in 1885 because the original name was already in use for a cricket. In 1879, Marsh named Camptosaurus Dispar the (type species of the genus) and C. Amplus for material he received from his collectors at Quarry 13 near Como Bluff, Wyoming. Throughout the 1880-1890s, he continued to receive specimens from Quarry 13 and named two additional species: C. Medius and C. N*** based in part on size. Then Charles W. Gilmore named two additional species, C. Browni and C. Depressus in his 1909 redecoration of the Marsh specimens. Then in 1980, Peter Galton and HP Powell in their redecoration of C. Prestwichi, considered C. N***, C. Medius and C. Browni to be different growth stages or different gender of the larger C. Dispar, and therefore only C. Dispar was the valid species. They also considered the skull referred to C. Amplus by Marsh and by Gilmore to belong to C. Dispar, as well. Gilmore had used this skull to describe the skull of Camptosaurus, but the specimen was recently shown by Brill and Carpenter not to belong to Camptosaurus and put it into its own genus and named the species, Theiophytalia Kerri. A second species of Camptosaurus was recently named by Carpenter and ...

  • Tribute to Labocania Labocania is a genus of theropod (tyrannosauroid?) dinosaur from Baja California, Mexico, which lived 70 million years ago, in the Campanian stage of the late Cretaceous Period. The name references the "La Bocana Roja" Formation, which translates as "red lips". The type species, L. anomala, was described by Ralph Molnar in 1974. Labocania is based on fragmentary material, and its affinities are uncertain. Molnar noted certain similarities between Labocania and tyrannosaurids (especially in the form of the ischium), but he did not assign Labocania to any family. The cranial elements are very robust, and the frontals in particular are thickened. The size of this predator is unknown, but it was probably a medium sized carnivore, about 6 meters long (20 ft). It was included as a possible tyrannosauroid in the 2004 review of the group by Thomas R. Holtz, Jr. Song: Break My Fall by Breaking Benjamin
