Toowoomba Queensland Floods 10/01/2011 - West Creek, James St / Prescott St / Pechey St Footage of Toowoomba Floods taken from "Red Edge" shopping centre on the corner of James and Pechey / Prescott Streets. Video starts off looking north along Prescott towards Goggs Street (a raging torrent), where all businesses were inundated. It then pans across the intersection to West creek, which was running over the top of James Street and along behind Andersons Carpets. It was from Andersons Carpets carpark shown here that the famous Blue Subaru Forester was swept away before hitting the Herries St bridge at the next block down (confirmed no one in it). Also, you can just see the footbridge from the park upstream lying next to James St (photos subsequently shown). It then pans up past Ideal Electrical which was inundated, then to FKG which was protected by its concrete rear walls, only receiving minor carpark flooding. The subsequent photos show the flooded streets, as well as the view looking over West Creek in the direction of Toowoomba Tennis Association (as their colorbond fence swept away and bottom level flooded). Another photo depicts the Pechey Street Park shown from the FKG building as the normally peaceful lake overflowed. After the water subsided, photos show the broken footbridge and infrastructure, including damage to shops downtown, undermined rail lines, the Blue Subaru Forester stuck in Herries Street bridge (along with a bin), and subsequent mess and clean-up encountered the next day.

Flood of September 2008 in Northwestern Indiana pubs.usgs.gov Illustrated inundated areas range from 0.1 (light blue) to 17.4 feet (dark blue) deep. Appendix 2. Flood-Peak Inundation Maps for Selected Study Streams and Communities, Flood of September 2008, Indiana Flood-peak inundation maps are intended to show the approximate depths and extents of floods using aerial photography as a base map. Error sources in the maps can include digital-elevation-data errors, high-water-mark errors, and flood water-surface elevation interpolation errors. Errors can result in inaccuracies in flood extent and depth estimations; thus, the flood extents and depths depicted in the maps should be considered estimates. Effort was made to obtain corroboration/confirmation of inundated areas from local officials or individuals familiar with the stream reaches included in this study. The comments received were crucial in refining the maps. In some cases the maps indicated flooding but, in fact, the water was from disconnected ponded areas. Because the focus of this report was to document flooding that was directly related to the stream or ditch, the ponded areas were removed from the inundation map. Where the streams were affected by levees, only the areas directly flooded by the stream were included in the inundation map. Use of trade ...

North Jakarta inundated with tidal wave flood Since this morning, Muara Baru area in North Jakarta has been inundated with tidal wave flood (rob). Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMG) predicted that the rob at Jakarta Bay would reach 1.2 meters of height within the next few days. Water height on Muara Baru highway was as high as an adult's knee. According to local residents, the rob entered the area at around 7 am and got higher. So far, the rob has not hampered local residents' activities. Rob at Jakarta Bay, according to BMG, was caused by the escalating of moon gravity. Water height would increase as an effect of swell wave that was struck upon by west wind from South China Sea. The rob was estimated to peak on Sunday, with 1.2 meters of height.
Inundated with bed bug calls Just looking at their pictures can make your skin crawl. That's part of why greater Toledo pest control companies have been inundated with phone calls from many asking questions about bed bugs. It's not cheap, either -- whether you do it yourself, or leave it to the professionals. They're generally the first questions when someone figures out their home's been infested with bed bugs. "Why did I get them? Where did they come from and can we get rid of them?," said Derrick Case, an employee for Frame's Pest Control in West Toledo. Case has already seen his share of the creepy, crawly bloodsuckers, in plenty of different places. "It's not just associated with any type of class," he said. "It can be high or low, they have no discrepancy of which. It can be the dirtiest, it can be the cleanest. You still could have them." And if you do, Case said you won't see them. Bed bugs are nocturnal, they are awake at night. Before they bite you to suck your blood, they numb you, so you won't wake up when they dig into your skin.
Flood at the Danube River in Vienna 1849 The reconstruction of the floodplain inundation is based on water levels and terrain elevations surveyed in 1849. It shows how the floodplain in Vienna was potentially inundated at flows between low water level and a flood with a return frequency of ca. 1 year. The reconstruction was made by Mathew Herrnegger as a master thesis in the course of the proVISION-research project "OPTIMA Lobau - Optimised management of riverine landscapes based on a multi-criteria Decision Support System" (project-no. 133-260/05; project leader: Thomas Hein). Floods inundate towns in Eastern Australia CCTV News Flooded communities across eastern Australia could be underwater for more than a week. And the cleanup after the water recedes is expected to be in the billions of US dollars. Days of torrential downpours have left parts of central and southern Queensland state inundated, flooding thousands of homes and businesses and forcing one town to completely evacuate. And flooding has shut down about 300 roads across Queensland, including two major highways to the state capital, Brisbane. The rain was easing on Thursday, but river levels continued to rise in many locations as flood waters made their way toward the sea. Bligh says billions of dollars from both federal, state and local governments, as well as insurance companies, will be needed to recover from the floods. She's appealing to the public to contribute to the disaster relief effort. Queensland launched a disaster relief fund for flood victims with one million Australian dollars in state money. Thousands of homes flooded in North Dakota Severe flooding in the US state of North Dakota has swallowed up thousands of homes in and around the city of Minot. About 12000 people - more than a quarter of the city's 41000 residents - were forced out of their homes as a result of the deluge. And many more houses are at risk of being inundated because of a swift rise in water levels of the Souris river, which broke a 130-year-old record on Friday and is expected to rise more than six feet this weekend. City leaders say a top priority is getting a federal declaration that would qualify Minot residents for individual aid. They say that would allow FEMA to set up centers to begin working on transitional housing for flood victims. Cath Turner reports from Minot.
UFO crash in Yarkutsk region of Siberia UFO event of Roswell proportions has taken place in Russia and is being ignored by Western media. In Russia itself, the incident has been reported by Interfax, the official Russian government news outlet (see article here). On March 1 in the Irkutsk region of Siberia, a huge object, glowing pink and blue according to some accounts, was seen by thousands of locals as it hurtled towards Earth. An enormous explosion was then heard over a wide area. Curious and frightened residents inundated various police and rescue departments with phone calls. The military soon confirmed that it had not been doing any exercises in the area and therefore cannot be responsible for any reports of UFOs. One villager, Mr Sergei Ivanov, described what he saw: "It did not look like an aircraft, more like a UFO or some other unexplained object". Soon a large array of officials inundated the area: Army chiefs, Air Defense personnel, Ministry of Defense officials, heads of police, Emergency Ministry staff, geophysicists, avionics experts and members of the secret service. These officials made their way towards site of the alleged crash, declared the event classified and announced to the media that the specific area of impact would not be revealed.
