Japanese Vocabulary Part-1 Ah, Oh, Alas : ああ / a.-(a) / O yes, Yeah, Well : ええ / e.-(e) / meet (somebody), see (somebody) : 会う / au / ( u-verb, intransitive,Group-Ⅰ) part from (somebody), leave (somebody), break up with (somebody) : 別れる / / ( ru-verb,intransitive,Group-Ⅱ) red : 赤 / a.ka / ( Noun ) 赤い / a.ka.i / ( i-Adjective ) blue : 青 / ao / ( Noun ) 青い / aoi / ( i-adjective ) ----------------------------------------------- NOTE : Some of u-verb are ending with う when written in Hiragana, such as this verb あう . Those kind of u-verb have a hidden (latent) / w / sound just before / u / vowel, and it shall appear when you make "-nai form" ex. あわない / a.wa.na.i /, "causative form" ex. あわせる / /, and ,if the verb is transitive verb, "passive form". But this 会う is regarded as intransitive verb in Japanese language, so, it dosen't have "passive form". if you say あわれる / / , just like the same way of making passive form with transitive u-verb, it shall be the honorific form of intransitive verb. And this kind of honorific form never be used for expressing the First person's performance. You cannot say, わたしはMasamune先生に会われる。 But i can say , あなたはわたしに会われる。 And of course , you can say Masamune先生はわたしに会われる。 But this 会う has Cusative-passive form, so you can say, わたしはMasamune先生に会わされる。 it means somebody makes you meet Masamune-sensei. Oh,it's difficult ,isn't it XD So please just remember, that nai-form ...

The Grammar Dude Part One: Transitive and Intransitive Verbs Frank explains how to tell the difference between transitive and intransitive verbs.
Basic Grammar: Transitive Verbs Intransitive verbs answer the questions 'how', 'where', 'when', and 'why'. Transitive verbs always answer the question 'what.' "Transitive, intransitive and copula verbs. Now I know that sounds intimidating but it's not really." With these reassuring words Marie embarks with us on a late afternoon walk along the edge of the seashore, inches from the wash of the breaking waves. It's one of those heavy, grey pacific northwest days where the sky waffles as to whether it feels like raining or not. Using the surf, seaweed, logs, stumps, ferry boats, and the remains of a first growth tree to inspire her examples, she imparts her lesson on subjects, objects, transitive verbs, intransitive verbs, copula verbs and complements, providing a list of the commonly used copula verbs, and a definition and examples of a complement.Workbook exercises and answer key are provided with this lesson. This lesson is excerpted from the Basic Cozy English Grammar course. The full course was created by and is available from Splashes from the River. You can check out this and other courses from Splashes at .

Breakdown in the Fire I used break in the form of break down and break up. The word break makes me think of emotional break downs and the end of relationships, etc. Break: 9.) finish relationship transitive and intransitive verb to end an involvement with a person or group 12.) ruin somebodys life transitive verb to destroy somebody's career, resolve, courage, or hope of success Break down: 2.) become or make emotional transitive and intransitive verb to become upset emotionally, or cause somebody to become upset emotionally 5.) fail to function properly intransitive verb to stop working, or stop working properly, effectively, or usefully BREAK After Mufasas death and the stampede, Simba slowly starts to lose his sanity and break down. As his mind breaks down, he starts to talk to himself. At one point, he manages to get in a relationship with Kovu, but Kovu quickly breaks it off after seeing how crazy Simba is becoming. He leaves Simba in tears, and the break-up causes him to finally break down completely. Simba sees his father in the pond...thing, and misunderstands what his father tells him of burning the past to move forward. He burns down Pride Rock with the help of the always insane Vitani. ((Pretend its Simba and Vitani sitting on the rock in the one clip.xD)) In the end, he finally sees the light through his fathers ghost, and sees what he has become and what he has done to his kingdom. And then theres more fire at the end where Simba dies. (((Or kills himself. You decide.;D ...
House of Etre Verbs Song - Yankee Doodle Hello, disgruntled French-learners! I noticed there was a lack of good House of Etre songs on YouTube, so I thought I'd provide this one. :) I think it's good. Sing it like Yankee Doodle. Here's the list in case the video goes too fast for you: aller venir sortir partir devenir retourner arriver rester rentrer entrer tomber revenir monter descendre passer naitre mourir (repeat the last 5 until the end) I hope you enjoy it! It's helped me for YEARS!!! EDIT: Okay, so I guess I should make a note: For "passer," etre is used in the intransitive and you should use avoir for transitive. :) It's really confusing, but your French teacher will probably go over it. ((PS - special thanks to Mrs. Cacciatore for giving us this song wayyyyy back in high school - you know who we are XD))
