Methylene blue betta breeding setup So lately I been putting a quarter teaspoon of methylene blue in the spawn tank to prevent any fungus or parasite from attacking eggs or fry. Its a little commercial but efficient. The only draw back is you cant put a live plant in the tank which i really like to do because live plants usually produce infusoria. So i fill 5 gal for the spawn and once all fry are freeswimmin and the male is takin out i put a bucket of pond water above the spawn tank and slowly drop pond water in with airline tubing. This will feed the fry for the first couple of days until they are ready for transfer to a pond or strong enough to go out and find worms or bbs. if you are tank raising i use to have good results with those hatch'nfeeder things. i bought 2 off of ebay and i would rotate cleaning them out every week. they save aaalllooott of work. Hopes this helps 41eg

Culturing Infusorians-Make Your Own Fry/Baby Fish Food/WARNING: DOES NOT WORK FOR EVERYONE!!!!!!!! PLEASE READ BOTTOM OF THIS MESSAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a method used to make your own fry food. Your baby fish should be eating baby brine shrimp when they hatch but they will eat this too. You should give this to them if you do not have brine shrimp eggs. Minimum time to make: 1 week/ WARNING: DO NOT TRY IF YOU ARE WILLING TO SACRIFICE THE FISH YOU ARE FEEDING IT TO! FOR SOME PEOPLE IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM AND FOR OTHERS IT DOES NOT (IN OTHER WORDS, HAS KILLED FISH). THIS METHOD IS DIRECTLY FROM AN AQUARIUM GUIDE BOOK SHONE IN THE VIDEO! I DID NOT COME UP WITH THIS!

Shrimp Fry and Infusoria The shrimp breed is Caridina japonica (Algae Eating Shrimp), they were estimated 3 months old when I made the Video. And I have 10 in total, not including the fry, from which I found 8 so far. I have 5 Adults in the 20 gallon tank and 5 in the 10 gallon breeding tank. The 10 gallon tank has 3 males and 2 females with each eggs on their pleopods. The 20 gallon tank has males only. The ONLY cheap food I found for the shrimp fry is Infusoria. All it is, 2 cell microorganism that feeds of lettuce in my example. They are the basic food and small enough to be eaten by the VERY tiny fry. There is also micro algae that develops in the process that they can utilize. Also I found that since I am adding the infusoria to ALL the tanks, the water is really nice and clean. From time to time I had bubble carpets on the water surface although I clean the tanks once or twice a week. Since I add the infusoria, I have ZERO bubbles, that is a great indication for HOW good the water really is. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy/-ed the Video, please leave a rating and a comment, I would really appreciate that.

Shrimp Life :) Well, it is all about the shrimps in this video. I mention Infusoria a lot, let me explain. All it is, bacteria that develop in "old" water. I use them as micro food for the VERY small shrimp fry. But not only the fry eat them, also the adults will go nuts for them. I have a better explanation in the 2nd Video I made, go and check it out ;) I certainly have a lot of fun with the little buggers and it is fascinating to watch them grow and take care of themselves. I dont know if you saw it, but the one shrimp is missing an eye xD silly thing......Its the only shrimp with a name: Blacky the Pirate, lol. Anyway, hope you enjoy the video.

Spinning Protozoa These spinning protozoa from an infusion of grass clippings caught my eye. I've not been able to identify them, so far. The first one seems to have a propeller-shaped feature (reminds me of a washing machine agitator), suggesting that while it spins it is pulling in food. The second seems to have a pseudopod-like extension that appears to be sweeping in food and packing it towards its center. See what you think.
