Specialized Induction Heating This is a video of non-contact heating via magnetic induction. I can't remember how much power the heater was running, but I imagine that it's at least a few hundred watts @ 60kHz or so. The solder itself is heating up and melting...the glass beaker is just there to contain the molten blob. The glass is truly "invisible" to the magnetic field of the coil. The heater itself was designed by a good friend, who did an outstanding job on the electrical and mechanical design. It utilizes a resonant-mode topology, making it extremely efficient. Water cooling allows 100% duty cycle, with power levels up to several kilowatts. Notice the solder bending around a little bit in the video. Some of that motion is due to the expansion of the solder itself as it heats up, and some of it is due to the influence of the high-density AC magnetic field surrounding it.

induction generator This is a AC electric motor acting as a generator. Basically what it is is a electric motor (for testing only, eventually will be a gas engine) driving a another motor that came out of a dryer i junked several years ago, they are brushless ac motors (induction) . the dryer motor (generator) has a capacitor wired in parallel to the power leads, i used 2 200v 220uf caps in series so it's 110uf at 400v, it should be more capacitance than that, around 200 or so, for best results. What i did is start the electric motor (testing only) then i plug the other motor in for just a few seconds to charge the magnets in the rotor, then unplug it then it starts generatoring around 117 volts ac. the more capacitance = more output power. I plan on working on this alot more this spring, this is just a test. i shouldn't have to charge the rotor each time, i don't why it ain't staying charged, i tried it without a load and it still did it, so i dont know. Atkins Diet: Induction Flu: Signs of Progress or Problems It is very common that I read questions or statements from new Atkineers saying, "How come I feel so tired?" "Why do I have such a headache?" "I have no energy what is this diet doing to me!" One of the problems is no one forewarned them about Induction flu. Induction flu is simply the body burning its last remaining glucose and stored glycogen for energy, and suffering withdrawal effects. It is very similar to what happens when runners "hit the wall" and cyclist "bonk." In addition to the physical withdrawal symptoms there are the mental symptoms as well. Think of drug addict, are they necessarily pleasant to be around or in high spirits even though they are doing something good. Well the carb addict has the same reaction; I personally was irritable for the first 2 or 3 weeks as I had to figure out how to eat, exert control over what entered my mouth, and regain new comfort foods. It is a dramatic change, and some people resist change. The good news is it is just temporary. It typically only last a few days, but for some the mental effects might last longer. It also shows you are on the right path and making true progress on getting rid of the excess fat. The silver lining is indeed that by the end if you continue the follow the plan you will be burning fat for fuel. You'll have to watch the video for my suggestions on how to lessen the effects.
