Investigators were checking the credibility of statements Hernandez made that implicate himself in the case, according to the Daily News. Six-year-old Etan went missing on May 25, 1979, a while walking alone to his school bus stop for the first time. The bus stop was a block from his home in New York's SoHo neighborhood. "Everyone is looking for closure," Roz Radd, who has lived in neighborhood 45 years told the Daily News. "Hopefully, he can tell us where his body is and the family can get some peace." The case received renewed attention in April when when a basement was excavated near where Etan disappeared.   • Gang Rap Videos Implicate MTL Police Brutality Witness A series of music videos introduced as evidence into the coroner's inquest of the Fredy Villanueva police shooting have put older brother Dany's credibility in question. Hip-hop videos featuring Dany Villanueva shown in court Wednesday proved he was associating with known gang members, contradicting earlier testimony he had quit gangs as far back as in 2006. Police are trying to undermine Villanueva's credibility on the witness stand at the coroner's inquest into Fredy Villanueva's death, a ***ager shot dead in front of his brother during an intervention by police in Montreal North in August 2008. Lawyers for the Montreal police said Dany's testimony can not be believed because he is a known criminal, with an adult record dating back to 2005, at age 18. The videos show Dany with Montreal North hip-hop group Mobsterz. The words in the songs glorify gangs and gang members associated with the "Reds", or "Bloods," an umbrella group for many criminal street gangs. A second video also features known gang members with whom Dany Villanueva wasn't supposed to be in contact Police insist his version of the shooting is not to be believed. Villanueva's family argues the attack on his credibility is proof police try to protect their own, by shifting the blame on the victim and his brother.

Rather worryingly, further investigations by police uncovered a series of emails from the mother's legal team, her lawyer had asserted that should she invent allegations against her former partner the case would go her way. What happened next was mother made statements implicating the father, making several wild allegations of ***ual abuse, she allowed their daughter to be subjected to a series of intrusive examinations and intensive questioning by police and social workers.   • Ruling would implicate passengers in DWI cases Two high-profile cases of drunk driving could be influenced by the State Supreme Court who will decide whether passengers riding with drunk drivers can also be charged in fatal crashes. That's a key issue in the Santa Fe case against former State Police Sergeant Alfred Lovato. He was sitting next to Carlos Fierro as Fierro drove drunk and killed a man crossing the street in November of 2008. Under current law, a passenger can be charged for a DWI, although Lovato has been charged with vehicular homicide. Lovato's Attorney Sam Bregman says its because his client was a state police officer assigned to the governor's security detail. I sincerely don't believe that if the passenger in Mr. Fierro's car was a 60-year-old grandmother of four, she would have been charged with vehicular homicide, said Bregman. Last Friday, another crash in Santa Fe left two dead and seven in the hospital. Police say the driver who caused it, 34-year-old James Ruiz, did not have a valid license and also wasn't driving his own vehicle. The police report states the truck belonged to Gilbert Mendoza, a former state police employee, who was a passenger along with his girlfriend. Santa Fe's police chief says its too soon to comment on whether Mendoza will be charged. State police say he stopped working for the Department of Public Safety well before the crash. The Supreme Court's decision is expected in the next several days.
