  • FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) Feline Leukemia Virus ( FeLV) is contagious and is passed by direct cat to cat contact, such as in mutual grooming or bite wounds. Not all cats who contact it die from the disease. Some fight it off and recover and some become carriers of the virus. FeLV suppresses a cats immune system, allowing other diseases to make the cat extremely sick. It can also cause lymphatic cancer.
  • Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, also called Feline AIDS Virus Doc Pawsitive and his veterinary team diagnose multiple cats every week with FIV, or Feline Immunodeficiency Virus infection, using a simple test requiring only 2-3 drops of blood and having results in 10-15 minutes while the cat owner is still present to discuss the findings. The test also checks for Feline Leukemia Virus and for Feline Heartworm Disease infection. FIV is in the same family as HIV but is species specific and will not cross-over to people or other pets in the same household. There is also a very effective, protective vaccination against FIV and cat owners should always seek the advice of a qualified veterinary advisor experienced in the diagnosis, prevention and/or treatment of this disease. Qualified advisors will discuss cat lifestyles, disease risk factors, testing, vaccination, prevention, treatment and more during your favorite feline visit to either of our veterianry offices, East Stroudsburg Veterinary Hospital, or PAWS/Pocono Animal Wellness Services.

  • Sunny, A Stray Cat Detected with FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) A Research Programme is currently carried out by Furry Friends Farm's volunteer to identify how serious is the widespread of FIV cats in the different parts of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. Furry Friends Farm is currently housing three FIV cats. They are from Cheras and Puchong. Sunny, a male, friendly Ginger cat was spotted one morning at Taman Permata, a residential area where restaurants are located. This friendly cat was delivered to the vet clinic for blood test before castration and vaccination. Unfortunately, Sunny was confirmed to be a FIV cat. He was castrated but cannot be vaccinated. As the primary source of FIV spreading is through saliva and blood (with deep bite wounds) and flea bites which can be infected, it will be very risky to other cats if Sunny is released back to the same area where he is found. Hence, Sunny has been transferred to Furry Friends Farm's FIV cattery.

  • Stephan Nance - Immunodeficiency (original) My hair was in my eye... but there was nothing I could do until the end. Music and lyrics by Stephan Nance Trouble is, Nowadays, We go walking through the rain Protected by our plastic parasols. From the mists To the waves, We don't think we ever will implode again: The mighty leaden rollers rushing in to kill us all. But the ships are swiftly sinking, And the submarine in which I am Sequestering myself Is failing to produce a proper answer. I'm thinking to myself, I'm telling me that deftly I'll be Giving my advice to all the world. The cells we're in are splitting So it's looking like It's likely that it's cancer. You looked sweet Standing there, Smiling at me sleepily Suspiciously like someone who is dead. Shake the sheets, Let 'em air, We'll go down in history Conspicuously grinning like the cat who's in the story life we've led. And the ships are softly sighing As the sedimental seafloor says A prayer to bring them home And sings a sullen cradle song of death. I'm thinking to myself, I'm telling me that certainly we Haven't got the heart to tell the world: The tumors are malignant So the time is coming When we'll breathe our last breath. From the start, Where was I? I was not the kind of guy To look a fading flower in the eye. Cross your heart, Hope to die, Hope to soon be sailing smoothly heaven-high, Surrounded by the seabirds as they skim the starless sky.

  • HIV / AIDS Replication Animation Video biology- ... Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a member of the retrovirus family that causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), a condition in humans in which the immune system begins to fail, leading to life-threatening opportunistic infections. Infection with HIV occurs by the transfer of blood, semen, vaginal fluid, pre-ejaculate, or breast milk. Within these bodily fluids, HIV is present as both free virus particles and virus within infected immune cells. The four major routes of transmission are unsafe ***, contaminated needles, breast milk, and transmission from an infected mother to her baby at birth (vertical transmission). Screening of blood products for HIV has largely eliminated transmission through blood transfusions or infected blood products in the developed world.
  • FIV-Feline Immunodeficiency Virus Viruses are microscopic particles that can only reproduce by infecting other living cells. They can cause diseases ranging from the common cold, bird flu, rabies or the deadly feline viral disease known as fiv, feline immunodeficiency virus. If this reminds you of HIV, there is a very good reason why. The two viruses are very similar. Both are known as retroviruses. Though they are very similar, fiv cannot affect people, and HIV cannot infect or sicken cats
