Hope Sandoval + Bert Jansch - All This Remains Singer/writer Hope Sandoval (of bands Mazzy Star, & Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions) collaborated with Scottish guitar legend Bert Jansch in co-writing & performing the song "All This Remains" from Jansch's 2002 album "Edge of a Dream". Hope wrote lyrics & melody. Jansch also plays guitar on two tracks from Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions' 2001 album "Bavarian Fruit Bread", on songs "Charlotte" & "Butterfly Mornings" (both findable at YT). Jansch recorded his song "Courting Blues" on his 1965 self-titled album. Hope's live cover of the song was a regular feature of shows of her tours of recent years. Cold Steel Pocket Bushman: Broken Hopes The current Cold Steel Pocket Bushman is a broken design. Cold Steel highly touts its Ram Safe® locking system (powered by a "strong compression spring") and provides us with convincing copy and pictures to prove the point. But sometimes reality can provide a harsh wakeup call as it did in my own casual study and initial use of the Pocket Bushman. First some background on the mechanism: for actuation in either direction, extraction of this locking bar via the provided 550 cord lanyard is necessary. The spring is strong and a fair amount of pulling force is required to unlock the blade, whether closed or open. If the user pulls the bar out too far, which is easy to do, the entire locking bar comes out from underneath the blade hilts, ejects itself from the handle, and can irreparably bend/kink the compression spring. This is what happened to my knife. At this point the knife, at least as designed, will be non-functional. The spring kink will prevent re-assembly of the locking bar and further (normal) use of the knife. This is currently a fatal flaw in an otherwise high value and seemingly strong knife. A locking bar retention mechanism needs to be immediately applied to the design. For a knife thats touted to be nearly as strong as fixed blade design, this is a glaring disappointment and it is shocking to me this eventuality was not identified in testing.
