  • The Persians As the ancient spirit of defiance against brutal -- and brutalizing -- elites waxes strong once more across the world, I thought these lines might be of some relevance. From Chris Floyd. For politics and prose, see www.chris-. "The Persians" © 2011 by Chris Floyd Let them march out to fight the Persians, And we will rise that very night To slaughter everyone remaining: Every Spartan, man and boy, girl and woman, in their beds. Not a house will be left standing, Not a stone unsmeared with blood. A hundred generations of helot pain Will be revenged before the dawn. Let them march out, take all the army, To meet the mighty Persians. Strip the walls of men, the stockades; Let them, O hot-faced Dis, let them Cloud their minds with haughty visions Of their triumph over Persians. Set them on the road to Susa, Have them preen before their women, Fall in step beside their lovers, Give their sons their weighty counsel, How to comport themselves as Spartans Should their fathers not return. I too have sons, O mighty Spartans; Some worked to death, some killed by hunters; And daughters, raped and yoked to service. So put on your armor, your great helms, Beat the ground with rhythmic march, Turn your swords against the Persians, That vast sea of Eastern men, And leave us to guard your children, Tend your flocks, work your gardens. You have beaten us like oxen, And we are broken, tamed -- believe it. Let every able, worthy man Take the distant field with Athens; Save us ...

  • Global Agenda Medic Poison Solo (adept) Part 1 Soloing with a medic was surprisingly easy. Poison wave/grenade is very useful. Poison grenade is safer though, since you don't have to get near the enemy. there were a couple times where i used poison wave where it almost killed me, but it made things go faster. If I used poison grenade instead, I'd be just fine and not have to take any risk. Medics can keep healing themselves to stay alive. I know I was a poison medic, but I'm more worried about staying alive, since i can just shoot all the enemies. Poison wave/grenade is great for groups, poison wave is much more dangerous though. I use the poison gun so i can deal damage in bursts, so I can use corners more often. It's also the gun I use in normal games because I like to reveal where invisible enemies are so they cant just run away without being shot at by my allies.

  • Global Agenda: 4 Assaults in high security Basicly I was randomly on my assault. And then EpochCoda invited me to a group, he's an old friend of mine. I noticed That 3 out of the 4 people in the group he invited were assaults, Ddruidd was a recon, he queued us for high sec. DDruidd didnt accept. so I suggested he go on his assault so i could make this video, and he did. 4 Assaults is pretty much the worst setup for PvE since they cannot heal themselves, and no decoys to distract the enemies. I figured I'd go AOE assault for this, since most people use the miniguns, worked pretty well, i had almost half of the team's damage before the boss room. This made me kinda worried that I was carrying the team, because if that's the case, then the boss room will be very difficult, especially if helots spawn. In the boss room, I switched to roamer (going tank without heals is suicide, or just making yourself lack damage) after I died, since someone else was aoe, and 1 incendiary grenade should be enough to kill alarm responders. Also, the boss needed to die fast, and I needed to gain the threat from the boss since I don't trust the other people from the team to do very well. 2nd time I died I was expecting too much out of my allies, expecting them to hold the boss's threat towards them while i focused on a techro, then I was kinda dumb and not retreating when the boss was attacking me, hoping it'd switch targets back to my allies. 3rd time I died pretty much the same thing happened, but with a helot. I put up a range shield ...

The practice had two ends: keeping the Helot majority in fear, and conditioning the Spartan youth to be merciless.
  • Discovery Channel - War and Civilization (First Blood) 4/6 A notable exception to the general pattern of hoplite warfare was the system used by the Spartans. As a result of a helot revolt occurring in the 8th-7th centuries BC, the whole Spartan state became militarised under the "Lycurgan System". This was made possible by the conquest of neighbouring lands, and the enserfment of the people. Known as Helots, they farmed the lands owned by the Spartans, thus removing the burden of supporting Sparta from the Spartans themselves. This left the Spartans free to dedicate themselves to the art of war. From the age of seven onwards, Spartan males were trained for a life of warfare. They were taught iron discipline, and almost programmed to forget about their individuality for the sake of Sparta.[4] The strenuous training and comradeship engendered between Spartans made them ideally suited to hoplite warfare which required high levels of discipline and selflessness. Spartans were taught not to fear death, only the shame of defeat in battle. In Spartan military culture, throwing away a soldier's aspis was not acceptable. The saying went: "Come home with this shield or upon it". It is not quite accurate to describe Spartans as professional soldiers, as the military was not an occupation which they chose, but a requirement by birth. Spartans were not employed as soldiers; instead, they were provided with serfs to support them. This can be compared to feudal Europe; knights were not professional soldiers, but a militaristic caste, supported ...

  • 15. Athenian Democracy Introduction to Ancient Greek History (CLCV 205) In this lecture, Professor Kagan describes the mechanics of the Delian League and its transformation into the Athenian empire. This transformation caused Athens to rival Sparta as an equal in power and prestige. He also argues that this process took place rather smoothly due to the good relations between Sparta and Athens. Professor Kagan argues that Cimon the Athenian generally played an important part in this development. Finally, Professor Kagan begins to describe the workings of Athenian democracy by comparing it with modern American democracy. • Global Agenda Recon Sniper Solo (adept) Basicly what I plan on doing is showing a video of all the different builds of each character and use a weapon that, that build wants you to use. I won't be doing balanced build though. Since I'm doing adept (the lowest difficulty for soloing). I decided to use only basic equips. However, I forgot to take off the mods on my recon because I didn't think of it at the time. He has weak mods anyways though, juuuust enough to finish off enemies in one less shot. (normally they have a tiny sliver of health left before you kill them with a sniper) Robotics engineer has the easiest time soloing, because all of his buildings can take care of the health, damage, and defense. Recon sniper would have to be the 2nd easiest because you kill everything soo fast, and nothing gets near you, however this is also your flaw during the boss fight since elites love to get up in your face unless it's an alchemist. Assault tank and poison medic are pretty much tied to the 3rd/4th place for being the easiest. Poison medic can just keep healing himself, well placed poison grenade or poison wave will kill a whole group of robots, but poison medic has a weak attack otherwise. The Assault Tank can take tons of damage due to it's high HP and reduced damage, unfortunately you will either have to be in the enemy's face to do damage, or be far away and wait for power to come back all the time and hope the enemy doesn't charge you. Healing medic has a much harder time than poison medic, since it lacks ...

  • Global agenda every elite is helot part 2 This was basicly one of my first times trying expert solo. Upon not dieing the previous 2-3 times I did expert, I decided to record one. Upon being overconfident and having slightly lower frames, I kinda had a harder time than normal. I didn't win, but every elite that was in the map was a Helot. (except the assassin spawned by the alarm, but helots can only spawn by alarms in umax, and since this isn't umax, an assassin spawned instead) I basicly uploaded this because I thought it was funny that every elite was a helot, i've had this happen 1-2 other times as well. Luckily I haven't seen this with techros (at the time of uploading this, most people agree they are the toughest elite). I've come close to having nothing but assassins a couple times too. I probably could have made it if I wasn't goofing off soo much. Since I'm almost done doing Expert with all my classes, I will probably record a video of doing experts soon. Unless I just forget about it. Helots are actually pretty easy to counter. 1. throw grenades and walk around a pillar, or a box that npcs can't climb on. Shoot him when he starts winding up his minigun but hasnt started firing. This is my least favorite way to kill Helots because this takes a long time to do, and time is not something you have in solo. 2. Find a ramp stay at the top, make sure you only see the head and not his gun, shoot his head, and he will miss 90%+ of his shots because he aims too low. 3. If you have the 50% range skill, just stay ...
  • Global Agenda: Fighting Think-tank as Meleecon Think-tank has pretty much no change in gameplay for meleecon, since many groups love to pin her against the wall and beat her up with their Melee weapons, just so they dont lose a lot of damage from missing her constantly, and because it's funny to see a boss get meleed. =p The spawns from the boss are what your should worry about, as most of them are hard to melee, Elite Helot, support keeper, and support destroyer are the ones to worry about. Helot will probably kill you before you get to him, support keeper shoves you back and deals damage to you fast, and can be hard to dodge his forced invincibility move., and the support destroyer seems to shoot through himself, and he does that AOE that he can trigger fast. The alchemist, support keeper, and the football team (alarm responders) you can melee easily, keeper will take a while longer to kill, but your team should be attacking it, and when it does the ranged attack, it will probably focus on someone else, then you can deal lots of damage from behind. Playing Meleecon in PvE right now is useless. It's effective in high sec, but even in high sec it's not as good as snipercon (but you can still out-damage some snipercons if they are bad). In max sec it's tough, and not useful, and it's impossible to melee in Umax. The strength of meleecon, is that some bosses cannot deal damage if the boss focuses on the meleecon, and meleecons will have high protections and run faster because they don't require other skills, making ...

  • Sparta!!! Best project of life! Videos include: Sword fight, New Recruits, Spartan Women, Babies on mountain, The perfect redhead baby, Spartan Lit., Spartan crime, Killing a Helot(slave), chasing a helot, killing a foreigner, Military planning, BLOOPERS: The revenge of the helot, The attack of the redhead, and Sword fight fail. Completly horrible actors include: Hannah (me), Robbie, Olivia, and Ryan :) Disclaimer: This video is full of dead baby jokes. Beware. History lesson: Just incase you don't know, Spartans killed all not perfect babies and left them to die on a cliff, including red heads. Their lives revolved around military, and it was highly recomended to commit a crime but if you were caught you brought shame to your family. The same goes for killing a helot (slave). There was acctually an annual holiday for it. Women worked out all day to make perfect spartan babies. So yea any questions just ask :D
