Visit Cooking Up a Story for more recipes, how-to videos, and stories: Here is Melinda's recipe from this video Braised Lamb with Hazelnut Brown Ale 2# Lamb shoulder or shanks (whole or ossobucco style) 1 ea Onions large dice 4 cloves Garlic minced 1 cup Mushrooms (whatever you like) whole, quartered or sliced 1 cup Tomatoes chopped 1 bottle Rogue's Hazelnut Brown Ale (there might be leftover be prepared to drink) 1-2 cups Lamb or Beef stock tt Salt tt Pepper 1-2 T High temperature cooking oil (safflower/grapeseed) Sprinkle lamb with salt and pepper. Put oil in a pan with high sides, turn on high heat, when pan is smoking hot add lamb and sear until brown on all sides. Remove from pan and turn down heat a little, add onions and mushrooms and saute until soft and turning brown. Add garlic and saute until lightly brown, add tomatoes, put the lamb back in and put in equal parts beer and stock until liquid is half way up the side of the product. Bring liquid to a boil, turn down heat to low and put on a lid. Cook until meat is fork tender and starting to fall off the bones. Season liquid to taste and serve by itself or over noodles, rice, potatoes, cous-cous, polenta or other desired starch.

They will take from the stash, and then go back to their homes to store, or quickly eat in the oak trees.
Gluten Free Chocolate Hazelnut Mousse for Valentine's Day! Greetings! Valentine's day deserves a special treat to end a romantic meal. This dessert could not be simpler. Really you only need two ingredients, Nutella and heavy cream, whip them together, put them into some wine glasses or dessert dishes, chill, top with some raspberries and you are in like Flynn! This would also be an excellent filling for a store bought canolli shell, tart shell or slice a frozen pound cake in several layers long ways and fill with this mousse to make an excellent Dobosh style torte! No matter what you choose to do with this mousse, you will love it. It is versatile, cheap and delicious! The bonus part of this mousse is that is if served in a glass with berries, it is a gluten free treat for those who choose to refrain from the gluten! The hazelnuts (also known as filberts) add additional nuttiness to the nutty flavor we get from creating the brown butter. The sage brings in a wonderful earthy flavor with a bit of crispiness from the pieces we put in at the beginning of the browning process. This dish is a good source of Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Copper and Manganese. Getting the packaged ravioli makes it easier to prepare this recipe. Fresh sage is a must. Dried sage will not have the same impact but in a pinch you gotta do what you gotta do. Other nuts are an option but I really enjoy the combination of the butternut squash and the hazelnuts. Almond-Chocolate-Hazelnut Crescents Uploaded this last night, just made it public today, that's why the date is off. :) Opening song and music in video by Jason Shaw Titles and opening sequence by Justavlogger. 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour 1 1/4 cups finely ground almonds 1/2 cup finely ground toasted hazelnuts (filberts) 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1 1/4 cups butter, softened (room temperature) 1 cup powdered sugar 1 tsp vanilla 1 cup chocolate chips melted 1. In a medium bowl, combine flour, almonds, hazelnuts and cocoa powder; set aside. In a large bowl, beat butter with an electric mixer on medium to high for 30 seconds. Add sugar and vanilla. Beat until combined, scraping bowl occasionally. Add the flour mixture, beating at low speed, just until combined. Cover and chill for 2 hours or until dough is easy to handle. 2. Preheat oven to 350F. Shape dough into 1" balls. Roll between hands into a small log shape with tapered ends and bend them inward to make a crescent shape.. Place the crescents one inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake 15-17 minutes until set. 3. Drizzle melted chocolate over cooled cookies, let stand until chocolate sets.

Chocolate Hazelnut (Nutella) Coconut Bars I won't call this one a fail, because the center part was very good and the crust there was crispy and yummy but I really think a different kind of crust would be better for this. I think a nice shortbread crust mixed with the Nutella might be very good. This is something you may have to experiment with to get right. 1 roll refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough (or a cookie recipe or crust recipe of your choice) 1 1/2 cups hazelnut spread (Nutella) divided into 3/4 cup and 1/2 cup 8oz (250g) cream cheese softened (I say 500g in the video but I mean 250g! sorry) 1 egg white 1 can Eagle brand sweetened condensed milk (or any brand) 3 cups shredded coconut (I used sweetened) 1 tsp vanilla extract 3 tablespoons butter 1/2 cup toasted coconut for garnish if desired. Heat oven to 350F Spray 9x13 inch pan with cooking spray In a large bowl mix the cookie dough with the 3/4 cup nutella and then spread into the bottom of the 9x12" pan. Bake for 30-40 minutes until golden brown. Cool 30 minutes. In another large bowl mix cream cheese vanilla and egg white together until creamy with an electric mixer, add condensed milk and blend together. Stir in coconut with a spoon Spread filling mixture over top the cookie crust layer. Bake at 350F for 30-40 minutes until filling is set and light golden brown. Let cool at least 1 hour. In a small saucepan over low heat melt the butter and add 1/2 cup of nutella stirring over low heat until combined and smooth. Spread the frosting over the ...

It can be used on a wide variety of breads. For more information on the rich history of Nutella®, Thick & Chewy Nutella video: I got this recipe from: ½ cup unsalted butter, at room temperature 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar 1/2 cup Nutella or other hazelnut chocolate spread 1 egg 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 1/2 cups flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/3 cup mini chocolate chips Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cream butter with an electric mixer about 1 minute until smooth. Add in both sugars. Beat on high speed about 3 minutes until light and fluffy, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed. With the mixer on low, add the egg and vanilla. Then add Nutella and mix until well combined. In a small bowl whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, and mix on low speed until incorporated. Increase the speed to medium and mix just until the dough is smooth. Fold in chocolate chips. Using a small ice cream scoop (or a teaspoon), form the dough into balls and place on parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake 6-7 minutes or until set. Let cookies cool about 5 minutes and transfer to a rack to cool ...

picking hazelnuts Rosie and I went out to a local park to pick some hazelnuts that had fallen from the tree. They're turkish Hazel trees, which explains the spidery husks. The nut shells are quite hard, so as a result they're not cultivated commercially, but the root stem is often used for grafting commercially grown cultivars hazel onto, as it doesn't sucker. However if you make the effort the nut is quite tasty - I'd say it has more flavour than the common cob nut. The trees are quite hardy, decorative and can grow anywhere which is why they are often used in urban landscaping, like this park. (Thanks wiki) We picked some elderberries, wild apples and blackberries that day and I used the hazelnuts to make a killer crumble. It was truly the business. Oh and that's me on the piano too.
