Kel-Tec PF-9: "Daily Carry Handgun" Pt 1 by Nutnfancy PART 1 of 2 The Kel-Tec PF-9 is a great alternative to the Kahr PM series of polymer framed pistols. It costs less than half the price and yet offers excellent accuracy, reliability, firepower, lightweight, and outstanding carry comfort. And it some ways, as discussed in the video, it even beats the Kahr PM series (PF-9: thinner, longer sight radius, 1 extra round, longer grip but still ultra concealable). Against the Kahr CW series, it compares in value but weighs a substantial 3 ounces less. As shown in my companion shooting video, the PF-9 is a good shooter too once you learn the trigger and get accustomed to the somewhat snappy recoil. It can readily serve as a concealed carry option, officers backup gun, or as a possible all-around home defense pistol as well (a lighter weight, more concealable gun like the PF-9 could prove to be more versatile and more used by the homeowner in the long run). Initial production versions of the Kel-Tec PF-9 were fraught with reliability and quality problems and some may mistakenly think these issues persist. They dont. Those have all been fixed and current iterations are providing stellar service with their users (reference for specific serial number issues if purchasing a used PF-9). For most users, the PF-9 will last your lifetime as well. Three Basic Handgun Types A basic look at the three most common types of handguns: single action, double action, and semi-automatic. The firearms are a 2nd Generation Colt SAA in .45 Colt, a beautiful .44 magnum 629 in 3" barrel, and a Colt Series '80 Model 1991 in 45 ACP. This is mostly for the novice shooter, the beginner. Based on questions I get, I know I assume more knowledge than some of our newest shooters possess yet. I'll try to do more videos of this nature and even create a PLAYLIST for BASICS. I think we do a lot to help out new shooters, but I realize that I assume a certain level of knowledge in most of my videos and likely talk over some people's heads. Of course, when one is 6'8", he's always talking over people's heads. :-) By the way, I think people totally new to guns get a pretty good idea about what these three main action types are about. If you want to get more complex, add your own approach, or expand upon it, please help yourself to doing a video on it yourself.

The most powerful handgun in the world Truly an insane handgun. Here's the email that was attached when a friend sent this to my dad: "You may have to watch Recoil twice. Try to follow the gun. This video is basically a "show and tell" custom built on a Thompson Encore (fancy version of the Thompson Contender). The Caliber... 600 Nitro Express. that's right...an elephant gun round in a handgun. The story goes that the guy that built it is some kind of custom gun maker, and built this as an exhibition piece. He takes it to the range with him just to show it off, and the big guy that shot it (in the video) had been bugging the builder to let him shoot it. Now think about this...only until fairly recently (early-mid '80's IIRC) the 600 Nitro Express was hands down the biggest, nastiest, hardest hitting, and heaviest recoiling weapon you could buy. It was designed for one simple purpose...to knock an elephant flat on his butt. IMO, it was really built as an exhibition piece for guys "compensating"...this cartridge is known for breaking collarbones, arms, shoulders...of the shooter! Think about this, in the gun world they use what is termed as a "recoil index" to kind of give prospective buyers an idea of what a gun kicks like. A .30-06 gets a rating of a 1.0, which for many people is about the limit of what they can shoot multiple rounds thru comfortably. A 243 is rated at like a .4, a .270 was like a .8, etc. The ..600 Nitro Express is rated at 9.4...9.4 times more punishing power than a 30-06. Now watch the ...

Thanks to that idiot, I got one basically brand new for cheap. I bought it for fun factor and for its engineering! This pistol differs from most in that its action is more like a hand held assault rifle than any pistol. It operates using a gas tube system, and even features a rotating bolt which positively locks with the barrel, like an M16. So, a rifle on the inside, and big honkin handgun on the outside. You can see it disassembles quickly and easily, a barrel change can be done in 2 seconds if you're good. Were looking at the barrel which has polygonal rifling, sadly you cannot see at this video resolution. All in all, Desert Eagle is a masterpiece of engineering. Ammunition: left to right, speer Gold Dot factory produced ammo, the other 3 are my handloads. Why handload? Currently its 2$ or more per shot with most 50 action express ammo, but you can get components and make them for as little as 36 cents a pop. 50 cal Carbide reloading dies cost too much, so I got the Lee steel dies, just means you have to lube the cases. Spray lube seems to work. I use use the lee handheld priming system. Unfortunately 50 cal cases are too fat... unless you take some ...

The gun is real and the bullets shown are the actual size of the rounds, on a standard monitor, in the standard you-tube video window. The 'Mag-Port' recoil compensation holes can be seen at the business end of the barrel, these holes let some of the blast out before the bullet has left the barrel, in so reducing the back pressure enough to lower the recoil to an acceptable degree. In fact the gun only rises up 60 degrees when fired. This might sound quite a lot, but a .44 Magnum Super Ruger BlackHawk is about the same, consequently, it wouldn't be that much of a surprise to experienced pistol and revolver shooters.
