Herman Lundborg Institute Herman Bernhard Lundborg was a Swedish physician, graduating in medicine at the Karolinska Institutet in 1895, and receiving his doctorate at the Uppsala University in 1903. He also habilitated that year in psychiatry and neurology, and in 1915 in racial biology. For his doctoral dissertation, Lundborg researched a form of genetic progressive myoclonic epilepsy first described by Heinrich Unverricht in 1891. Besides giving an account of the disease, he traced an affected family back to the 18th century, an ***ysis unique for that time. He concluded that the family had genetically degenerated because of unwise marriages. Over the years, the form of epilepsy became known as the Unverricht-Lundborg disease. In 1922, Sweden became the first country in the world to establish a eugenic governmental agency, the State Institute of Racial Biology, which Lundborg was appointed to head. Under his leadership, the institute began gathering large volumes of statistics and photographs to map the racial make-up of about 100000 Swedish people. This research later became one of the foundations for a eugenics program of the Swedish government, which consisted of both voluntary and involuntary sterilisation of persons with negative genetic characteristics. The program was started in 1935 and would last until 1975.

Re-hablitated in a Dr. Cooks Bitless Bridle Dutch Warmblood Lindy being re-habilitated in a Dr. Cook Bitless bridle. This mare has been an absolute joy to work with. Our first session was a little rough as she didn't know if she could trust me (lot's or rearing in hand, fearful of the whip ) Once she realized I was not going to hurt her, she has been doing nothing but trying to please. I spoke with her former trainer(she had several, the one who had her right before I went out) who told me she refused to stand to be mounted, would not walk a straight line, if you asked her to go right she would go left, and she would pop up. I asked how high, he said "oh all the way" I usually won't take on horses that go all the way up. I made no promises to owner of ever getting on her. I needed to let her know I had very specific rules, but if she gave even the slightest try she would be rewarded with a release of pressure and a rub. I ground drove her lunged her. walk and halt only, I would use a whip for direction not for punishment. I would read her but it was her responsibility to read me and not over react. Our very first session, I just sat on her bareback and rubbed her all over the last 5 minutes of our session. 2nd one same thing and just walked rode for final 15 minutes 3rd visit II finally added a English saddle as I felt pretty comfortable we took it slow for both our sakes. She never "went up" during any of my visits. We have cantered both directions, in her pen and outside in an open field, she was always willing. she gets softer ...
