Local resident Bob Stone objects to 'green' washing Local resident Bob Stone objects to use of the misnomer, 'green' as simply a ruse for those standing to profit from the destruction of the local environment, our health, and quality of life. He asks that the Adage permit application be denied, and our quality of life be preserved. Unlike the visiting proponents waiting to profit from Adage's BioMassacre scheme at the community's expense, Mr. Stone has lived in Mason County 40+ years. While the ORCAA hearing was designated as a forum to discuss air quality and Adage's proposed permit application on the same, the visiting proponents repeatedly opined about the 'jobs' and money they might receive, disregarding community sentiment against it and the destruction of what residents hold dear.

Greenwashing: False Claims on Recycling, Environmental Sustainability and Eco Friendly Products Watch this video and learn about greenwashing, the true meaning of organic and what Lifecycle Assessment is. Greenwashing is the false claim that companies make by spinning their products as environmentally friendly. According to , 98% of the products in the US and Canada have some form of greenwashing. Companies often use words with no clear meanings like "eco-friendly" or overemphasizing one green element, while everything else is not green, to deceive consumers. In most of the cases, companies have no proof at all for their products' environmental benefits. Even if the product can prove that it is greener than any other substitute in the market, it does not imply that the production procedure is green. For example, a recyclable T-shirt made in a factory pollutes rivers. The other common mistake consumers often make occurs when purchasing organic products. In order to be considered organic, products have to be made of 100% certified organic ingredients; while "made with organic" product only contains 70% of organic ingredients. Greenwashing can be counted as false marketing, and going organic can be tricky sometimes, so watch this video and learn how to be a smart consumer. This video brought to you by Grenk and Nextlife.

Resist the Corporate Green Wash! www.no2010.com On March 30-31, the International Olympic Committee, along with VANOC and corporate sponsors, hosted the 8th World Sport and the Environment Conference in Vancouver, BC. Their goal? To promote the 2010 Winter Games as a motor for "social, economic and environmental benefit." The Olympic Resistance Network and other concerned groups held a demonstration outside Canada Place on Monday, March 30 to protest the environmental damage of the Olympics, and opposed this attempt to greenwash the 2010 Games. "The Olympic Committee is trying hard to portray the 2010 Games as environmentally friendly, but many of the corporate sponsors are either directly involved in, or financing, projects and industries involved in the commodification of water, independent private power projects on BC rivers and most significantly the Alberta tar sands, says Harjap Grewal of the Olympic Resistance Network. Construction, air travel, local traffic and other activities for the two week long 2010 Olympics are expected to generate more than 3700000 tons of carbon emissions, the equivalent of five per cent of BCs annual CO2 output. At least 100000 trees have been destroyed for a 17-day event. VANOC and the BC government violated the International Olympic Committees stated requirement that the host city carry out environmental impact studies before starting work. This environmental destruction is occurring on unceded Indigenous lands, with environmental and financial costs that will burden ...

Wal-Mart's Greenwashing Campaign Many environmental are jumping on the "we love Wal-Mart" bandwagon because the company is working to enact numerous new green projects. Mike Papantonio of Air America's Ring of Fire appears on Fox News' Bulls and Bears to set the record straight.

Greenwash spill at the BP-sponsored National Portrait Gallery Last night at 6.07 PM the London brigade of the Greenwash Guerrillas got a call from a panicked pedestrian outside the National Portrait Gallery. It seemed that the prizegiving ceremony for BP Portrait Award was about to start, and toxic greenwash had begun to gush uncontrollably from the gallery's front doors. Arriving on the scene, armed with the latest in greenwash detecting equipment and wearing protective biohazard suits, the Guerrillas immediately identified several sources of the leak. Greenwash levels appeared to be the strongest anywhere a bright green BP logo was to be found: from the massive banners fronting either side of the grand entrance, to the microscopic embroidery on a security guard's lapel. The Guerrillas were given the run-around by gallery security and the Metropolitan police, who escorted Britain's cultural establishment into the awards ceremony first at the front, then around the side, then back at the front entrance again. By 7 PM, everyone had convened at the front entrance, and the Guerrillas set to work to contain the leak, quarantine the area, and warn attendees against entering the building. Many clean-up efforts were tried, from throwing golf balls and old tires at the leak to trying to plug it with mud, but for some reason the spill just kept gushing. Meanwhile, some Guerrillas attempted to arm the attendees -- most of whom, inexplicably, were determined to enter the contaminated building -- with information about BP, oil industry ...

Greenwashing: Don't We Exhale CO2 So Plants Make Oxygen? CO2 = CO2: A Letter to a Friend About The Biggest Joke In History... . The War on Terror Rapture = Takes Our Rights. The Global Warming Rapture = Takes Our Stuff. . Heya [redacted], Sorry man, I don't want to tell you this because I know you're into it, but be careful with what the corporate media owned by the corporations destroying the planet sells you. A lot of the problems and solutions they give us are fake and get us to feel guilty and blame each other instead of them while avoiding real environmental issues like GMO foods. This conveniently allows them to keep us distracted while they continue destroying the planet. There's lots of science, logic and other evidence to look at, but people selling fake stuff train their followers not to look at it. The same fascist techniques that make people say "Bush is Jesus and I won't listen to anyone who says otherwise!" work on the rest of us "humans" too. It's just different lies for the fake "Left" and "Right" political divide that make us scared of hearing the other side. I've changed my mind a bunch of times because I've kept an open-mind, it's supposed to be how we learn stuff, I think. Incidentally, I don't know if you remember learning this back in school, but CO2 is what animals exhale and what plants use for photosynthesis to produce oxygen for us. It's not bad for plants or the environment. It's CO2. It's a stable gas made from compounds in the periodic table of elements used for millions of years and it doesn't ...

Lindsey Satire Project - Greenwashing (Part 1) This is the video we created for Mrs. Lindsey's Satire Project (Year 2010) My group: Rebecca G. and Me (Stella) Topic: Greenwashing We are satirizing greenwashing, which refers to how companies often spend millions on advertising how green their products are when they spend very little on actually researching how to make their products more eco-friendly. If you're even bothering to read this description, all of the video clips, nature scenes, etc. are filmed by Rebecca and me. We take credit for everything filmed in this video except for the 3 pictures of mutated frogs. Video Edited by: Rebecca Music Credits: 1. "Insomnia" piano played by Stella 2. "Tulip Trees" by Robert Costlow 3. "A Walk Down the Trail" by Reasoner 4. "Right here Waiting" piano played by Stella In addition to this video, we made extra supplements for our short presentation: 1. A tree-shaped poster out of green advertisements from magazines. 2. A bottle of Amtor's Crystal-Clear Solar Energy Drink complete with a label and Nutrition Facts. 3. A commercial brochure of Amtor's success as an eco-friendly industry. Sadly, I can't show you any footage of the actual presentation of our supplements. Sorry, this video is all that you get for not being in our awesome 4th period. =) Note: If you're wondering where Stella is in the video, she's in Part 2!
