Applebee's Takes on Social Media with New Ad Campaign Applebee's has a new social media ad campaign that puts a unique twist on the social services that so many of us have become addicted to. "Life Is Better Shared" is the theme of the campaign, and the idea is to demonstrate that in-person, face-to-face interaction is more appealing than virtual communications. The campaign is geared toward women and is an extension of Applebee's "Girls Night Out" campaign from last year. Cornett Integrated Marketing Solutions is the ad agency responsible for both campaigns, and, according to Jeff Han***, the Creative Director at the agency, they decided to broaden the audience of females to include both young women and those with families. He explained that this would help them better reach Applebee's owner Thomas & King's ultimate goal of increasing bar sales. "Life Is Better Shared" is a online video campaign that uses the "Applebee's Girls Night Out Goddess" to show that there is no substitute for good old-fashioned talking around the dinner table and laughing out loud, in the literal sense. Christy Hiler, Cornett's Chief Strategic Officer, told us that the goddess represents a grandmotherly-type who can get by with making fun of how much time women spend on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. She was herding cows and sheep when she heard one of the calves cry. It was being attacked by a wolf, and the pensioner rushed to shoo the wolf away. Grandmotherly Love - Against All Odds, A kitten survives. Ulvika Lilia, our four year old silver and white tabby Norwegian Forest Cat, saved her grand-daughter's life when she was 3 weeks old. Rusty had a stroke, leaving her paralysed from the waist down. Within minutes, Lilia started to lick Rusty, frantically. This was to stimulate the kitten's bladder, which, if not emptied, would have caused a lethal infection. She continued to do this for days, while we, her owners, hand-fed her with cream cheese and water. Her Mum couldn't cope as a first time mother, and happily trusted her own mother, Lilia, to deal with the situation. After two anxious weeks, Rusty recovered the use of one hind leg, and started to scoot around the floor using one hind leg, and her little tail as a rudder. She would climb the stairs simply using her upper body. Our wonderful vet suggested that she might survive if the other hind leg that had no muscle development was amputated. Two days before her appointment for the operation, Rusty started to twitch her other hind leg. Within a few hours, she was pushing herself up with it, and she can now walk normally. She plays and enjoys life at 8 weeks old with her entire family, her mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunts and grandfather. She is, as our vet said, "A feisty tortie fighter", and has confirmed that very few kittens ever survive such a lesion, and that it was Lilia who saved her life.

Hattie Hattie Denton owned the North Fork general store during the first 2 years of The Rifleman. She was a sweet, grandmotherly type lady who loved Lucas and Mark. She was my favorite store keeper on the show! There was something special about this lady. So this is dedicated in the memory of Hope Summers.

Check up call from Babci This is a recording of my grandmother (aka Babci, the Polish equivalent to grandmother), calling me (Eric) up during a snow storm to see how me and my brother (Briand) are handling being stuck inside after a snowstorm, and seeing how my recent cold is coming along. In the second part, I inform her that I did shovel snow, since my parents are stuck overnight in New York after attending a Billy Joel concert. My Babci passed away on August 3, 2012 at the age of 93. I will miss her greatly, and all of her advice and grandmotherly concern, even though she despised my lack of haircuts.
