Indigo-capped Hummingbirds & Lazuline Sabrewings - Jardin Encantado feeders, W slope of E Andes This is a new place we are including in our tours!... more than 20 hummer feeders and some 15 species including near-endemic Lazuline Sabrewings and "endemic" Indigo-capped Hummingbird.. Very cool to spot White-bellied and Gorgeted Woodstars at the same place!... I made this video in our February 2010 tour with clients from US trying to get a couple of woodpeckers in Colombia (Crimson-bellied & Beautiful) in their quest to see all the woodpeckers of the world (we got Beautiful but unfortunately not the scarce Crimson-bellied!); we visited the Pacific Choco lowlands and the Magdalena Valley mainly, plus a bit of birding in the C Andes around Medellin and E Andes around Bogota. Endemic Gorgeted Wood-Quail - Odontophorus strophium - San Vicente de Chucuri, E Andes This was myabe my favorite bird if the May trip!... Endemic, a lifer, and what a show they gave me: I stayed at the forest to try for Rufescent Screech-owl and decided to spend the last 2 hours of light near the Wood-Quails feeder station... when they arrived I enjoyed them and then played them back a bit so they started to walk towards me; I was almost invisible as I was sitting on the ground covered with a black poncho in a rainy cloudy dark late afternoon. When these little things got as close as 2m from me, they suddenly realized I was something dangerous and started to run in all directions back and forth calling and jumping all over the place! ... This video is from the 2nd trip from a series with US clients birding all Colombia.

Yunnan 2007 Part 4 This part continues our birding in the Yingjiang area. Birds start off very elusive, with the song of a hidden spotted wren-babbler, speckled piculet, bronzed drongo, orange-bellied leafbird, grey-bellied tesia, rufous-bellied eagle, white-gorgeted flycatcher, brief views of what might be Nepal fulvetta rather than grey-cheeked (we had both here!), rufous-faced warbler, brief whiskered yuhina, Bianchi's warbler, little forktail, black-backed forktail, long-tailed sibia, greater flameback, red-breasted parakeet, very distant collared treepie, flavescent bulbul, spot-winged starling, a mostly concealed collared treepie, streaked spiderhunter, rufous-faced warbler, stripe-breasted woodpecker and red-vented bulbul.
