I could try and sit here and explain where this video camE from... But then I'd be here all day. Basically, we created this idea off the top of our heads and decided to act it out. In the end, it was so cool we wanted to post it on Youtube. And here we are. Bet you can't figure out where I got the song in the background from ^.~ Rate and Comment

Its presenting symptoms include hearing loss (conductive type), pulsing tinnitus, ear pain or rarely bleeding from the ear. This video shows a pulsatile red vascular mass (synchronous with the patient heart beat) at its typical position (behind the lower quadrant of the middle ear). The eardrum is mildly retracted as well.

The Carotid Body Tumor THE CAROTID BODY TUMOR Introduction: Among the nonchromaffin paragangliomas, the carotid body tumor is second in frequency to the glomus jugulare tumor. Despite the large number of published cases, these tumors are relatively uncommon. Several authors have suggested that the carotid body tumor represents a proliferative response of the normal organ to some unknown disturbance within the nervous system, rather than a true neoplasm. Bungeler (1952) suggested that this was some form of adaptive hyperplasia, which was produced by traumatic destruction of the cortical projection fields of the X nerve. In contrast to this hypothesis, is the realization that a significant number of these lesions undergo malignant transformation with metastasis, which establishes the carotid body tumor as a true neoplasm. Study of the familial occurrence of chemodectomas has established a definite genetic influence in the development of these neoplasms. This hereditary factor is especially prominent in multicentric cases. Saldana et al. (1973) found that chemodectomas were 10 times more frequent in high-altitude dwellers than in sea-level residents. They proposed that hypoxia, acting from birth, served as a stimulus for chemoreceptor tissue hyperplasia, which eventually led to tumor formation. Epidemiology: These tumors have been reported in all stages of life. There appears to be a slight predilection for women in the incidence of these tumors. There is no preferential laterality. cure for tinnitus | ringing ears Tinnitus and various types Clinically speaking, tinnitus represents any ringing or buzzing in the ear not resulting from an external stimulus. There is subjective tinnitus where the ringing or the wheezing is heard by the patient alone and objective tinnitus in which the doctor can also hear the noise by using acoustic instruments. Some of these are unilateral (can be heard in one ear) or bilateral where it is heard in both the ears. Persons suffering from Pulsatile Tinnitus can hear their own heartbeats while Somatic Tinnitus resonances lie outside the ear, probably beyond the cochlear nerves and is believed to arise from central crosstalk within the grey matters. Here are some of the underlying causes of tinnitus 1. Atheroscl*** Carotid Artery Disease in which the arteries become narrowed due to heavy cholesterol buildup that result in uneven blood flow to the head and neck area. 2. Benign Intracranial hypertension may also cause Tinnitus (Pulsatile?). 3. Damaged nerve, particularly the nerve that runs between the brain and the ear. 4. Glomus tumor that consists of bunches of tissues and entangled blood vessels in the ear or the immediate surrounding area can become a cause of tinnitus. 5. Intracranial vascular lesion often causes tinnitus of aneurism and arteri-venous malformation or deformity that is usually typified by abnormal or irregular connection between the artery and the vein.. 6.
