One-piece mahogany neck with a nice thick profile, Brazilian rosewood fretboard with 22 original frets and pearl crown position markers. Two really hot P-90 pickups with strong outputs of 7.68k and 7.96k. ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and separate stud tailpiece. There is very little wear to the original frets. Overall, this guitar is one of the best examples that we have ever seen. There is no fading to the back or neck and no greening to the gold top. Housed in the original Gibson "Bulb Headstock" five-latch Lifton brown hardshell case with pink plush lining (9.00). "The first Gibson Les Paul solidbody electric guitar, known simply as the Les Paul Model then but now better known by its descriptive nickname 'gold-top', first went on sale during 1952" (Tony Bacon, 50 Years of the Gibson Les Paul, p. 15).

1962 Gibson Les Paul SG Standard 01131 This forty-eight year old, 13-inch-wide Les Paul SG Standardweighs just 7.20 lbs. and has a nice, fat nut width of just over 1 11/16 inches and a standard Gibson scale length of 24 3/4 inches. Solid Honduras mahogany body with beveled edges, one-piece mahogany neck with a typical '62 medium thin profile, and rosewood fretboard with 22 jumbo frets. Two original Gibson PAF humbucking pickups with outputs of 7.56k and 7.70k. Four controls plus three-way selector switch, all on lower treble bout. ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic non-retainer bridge with metal saddles and Gibson "Sideways" Vibrola tailpiece. All hardware nickel-plated. The rich cherry finish on this guitar is totally unfaded and there is some very typical light finish checking. There are a few very small and insignificant marks/indentations on the back and the edges. There is just one very small mark/indentation on the top - just by the jack input. Otherwise this "last of the Les Pauls" is in as near mint (9.25) condition as one could wish for. Complete with the original "Tune-O-Matic Bridge" instruction sheet. Housed in its original Gibson four-latch "Faultless" black hardshell case with orange plush lining (9.25).

The Great Gibson Guitar Raid: Months Later, Still No Charges Filed "e in with weapons, they seized a half-million dollars worth of property, they shut our factory down, and they have not charged us with anything," says Gibson Guitars CEO Henry Juszkiewicz, referring to the August 2011 raid on his Nashville and Memphis factories by agents from the Departments of Homeland Security and Fish & Wildlife. The feds raided Gibson for using an inappropriate tariff code on wood from India, which is a violation of the anti-trafficking statute known as The Lacey Act. At issue is not whether the wood in question was endangered, but whether the wood was the correct level of thickness and finish before being exported from India. "India is wanting to ensure that raw wood is not exported without some labor content from India," says Juskiewicz. Andrea Johnson of the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) counters that "it's not up to Gibson to decide which laws...they want to respect." She points out that Gibson had previously been raided under The Lacey Act for imports from Madagascar. This much is clear: The government has yet to file any charges or allow Gibson a day in court to makes its case, much less retrieve its materials. "This is not about responsible forestry and sustainable wood or illegal logging, this is about a bureaucratic law," argues Juszkiewicz, who testified last year before a congressional hearing convened by Sen. Solid mahogany body and one-piece mahogany neck with anut width of 1 11/16 inches, a scale length of 24 3/4 inches and wonderful medium-to-thick profile. Black faced headstock with pearl inlaid "Gibson" logo. Gold-plated, bell-shaped truss rod cover secured by two screws. Individual 'two-line' Gibson [Kluson Deluxe] tuners with oval metal buttons. Serial number "71598230" stamped in blind on back of headstock. Rosewood fretboard with 22 original jumbo frets and pearloid dot markers. Two Gibson Series Vll humbucking pickups in the neck and bridge position with outputs of 5.15k and 7.40k respectively. One Gibson Patent No. Humbucker (stamped on the underside "2737842") in the middle position with an output of 4.42k. The middle position pickup is activated by a push-pull switching sysyem on the second volume control. Single-layer black plastic pickguard with eight screws. Three controls (two volume, one tone) plus three-way pickup selector switch. The potentiometers are stamped "137 7812" and "137 7843" (CTS, March & October 1978).
