Doctor Who - Beatles Medley I came across the best fan-made music video ever, featuring clips from Series 1 of the new show.
91 - Billy Joel - Captain Jack - cover by GeoMan This is one of Billy Joel's early songs and my hands-down favorite of his.
126 - California Dreamin - Mamas and Papas cover by GeoMan This one is my first songs with my new used Taylor 354ce-L30 12-string guitar. I never did get that Am-GF sequence figured out at the end. I have it now but I'm too lazy to redo this one.
181 - Bob Dylan - Boots of Spanish Leather - cover by GeoMan Copyright music and lyrics reproduced by kind permission of Special Rider -- for original, exclusive performances by Bob Dylan, check-out the official channel at /bobdylan. This is the Song of the Day for Wednesday, October 6, 2010. I tried to sing it like I remember Joan Baez singing it. Her range is obviously much wider than mine.
198. Lynyrd Skynyrd - Call Me The Breeze - cover by GeoMan This is the Song of the Day for Wednesday, October 20, 2010. My sister posted a YouTube video of Lynyrd Skynyrd playing this song and it sounded at once like one I had to record. It lends itself really well to an acoustic treatment and I think I did better on the harmony track than on any other song so far. What do you think?
180 - Chris Barron - Part of Me - cover by GeoMan This is the Song of the Day for Tuesday, October 5, 2010. This is a beautiful song of lost love from Chris Barron, the lead singer of the Spin Doctors. I've been singing it all day.

36 - Girlyman - St Peters Bones - cover by GeoMan This one is done with the same capo on the 7th fret that Girlyman uses in the recording.
215 - Old Crow Medicine Show - Wagon Wheel - cover by GeoMan Song of the Day for Tuesday, November 9, 2010. 11/11/2010 : Fixed the volume a little and added "Good Day". Added harmony on the refrain. From Wikipedia, The chorus for the song comes from a Bob Dylan outtake from the soundtrack for the film Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. Although never officially released, the Dylan song was released on a bootleg and is usually named after the chorus and its refrain of "Rock Me Mama." Although Dylan left the song an unfinished sketch, Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show wrote verses for the song around Dylan's original chorus. Secor's additional lyrics transformed "Rock Me Mama" into "Wagon Wheel." Secor has stated the song is partially autobiographical.
80 - Greg Brown - Dream Cafe - cover by GeoMan Greg Brown is a folksinger/songwriter from Fairfield, Iowa. I bought this song on iTunes, wrote the lyric from the song and figured out the chords myself. Essentially, it's just a lot of D, G and A with emphasis on the upstrokes when you strum. I sure wish I could have managed the words a lot better but what you hear is what you get. Live is live. Here is the lyric and chords that I developed on my own but there are some Dsus4 chords at the end of each verse. Just lift the finger off the high e string of the D chord. Dream Café -- Greg Brown -- Capo 5 DGDG You are the woman in the blue mask, Standing their beside your dress GDA All the things I wanted from you I never could express DGDG I thought I saw you once in Munich But you slipped away GDA I'm in the corner with a coffee at the Dream Café. (chord interlude) DGDG For once I didn't say anything stupid My lover never once looked bored GDA Soldiers come in smeared with lipstick Like the last day of the war. DGDG The band divided up the money But the drummer could not stay DA He said he's going to meet us later At the Dream Café. (chord interlude) DGDG When you turn from the window, In your worn-out slip DA And put your eyes to my fingers While the ceiling dripped DGDG I just could not leave you I heard a motorcycle pull away DA Yes, I'll meet you after midnight At the Dream Café. (chord interlude) DGDG There's flowers now on Lynne street, And a new moon just above DA They tore down all the houses Where we used to make ...

154 - Michael Joncas - On Eagles Wings - cover by GeoMan This is a song that holds great meaning for me as it was sung at my son's funeral and for years thereafter I could not get through it. I did sing it solo though and played guitar at my neighbor Tim's funeral.

75 - Paul Brady - Don't Try to Please me - cover by GeoMan A nice little song by a guy name Paul Brady who is touring over in the UK right now and must BE from there somewhere. 79 - GeoMan - My Guitar Story Part I I show you each of my six guitars and say a little about each one. I am blessed to have the resources to afford so many instruments. For many many years I had only the Gibson which was manufactured sometime in the early 1940's. I bought it after totally messing up the neck of my first guitar, a 12 string purchased at K-Mart. They gave me my money back and I went down to Day Music in Eau Claire and bought this one used. I have also owned an Ovation which I gave to my son Geoff and a Martin Backpacker that I gave to my daughter, Theresa. I owned a Sigma 12 string for awhile but became frustrated with my inability to tune it and I traded it in when I bought the Taylor 210e. I do see another 12-string in my future but not any time soon. My dear wife has been most patient with my purchases over the past year (I've spent close to 6K on the three guitars) and with all due respect, I need to thoroughly explore the six guitars that I now have before I buy any more.
83 - Tom Waits - I hope that I don't fall in love with you - cover by GeoMan PLEASE LISTEN TO MY OTHER TAKE OF THIS SONG ON MY CHANNEL. MY INTONATION IS MUCH BETTER. I heard this one on Sirius, then bought it on iTunes, then looked it up on Chordie. It was recorded in 1973 as part of Tom Waits' Closing Time album. It is a joy to me that there could be songs like this one still out there for me to discover. This one touches me in a very deep and achingly satisfying way. It speaks to loneliness, desperation and that never ending fantasy that love can be wrested out of meeting in a crowded bar. My heart says it's possible. My head says it's insane. I am in awe of the talent of Mr. Tom Waits. When I first heard him sing, I thought, "Whoa, this guy is "out there"." Now I see him as an artistic genius. Thanks Tom.
41 - Pete Yorn - Strange Condition - cover by GeoMan I like this song and I love the tone from my Taylor T5.
115 - Old Chunk of Coal - John Anderson cover by GeoMan It's pretty hard to sound like John Anderson so I didn't try. I just like the message in this song. And I was WRONG. This was not written by Stonewall Jackson. It was written by Billy Joe Shaver. Some songs are written because of inspiration while others have been written in times of desperation! According to Billy Joe Shaver, he was just about at the end of his rope when he wrote, "I'm Just An Old Chunk Of Coal, But I'm Gonna Be A Diamond Someday." Billy said, "I hadn't written a song in over a year. And I was having a lot of trouble at that time because I was into a lot of things I shouldn't have been in and I was strung out on several things about that time. I was really just about at the end of my rope. And about that time I started to realize that I was going down the wrong road and that I definitely needed to change my life's direction." "My son had showed me a place on the Harpeth River near Nashville, Tennessee-a place they called 'The Narrows.' It was an old cliff that was real high and it took quite a climb to get to the place. Close to the top of that cliff was a hollowed out place and to me it looked like several altars that had been made by water or the wind. This particular spot had a kind of spiritual feel about it." "I was raised in a religious family so this place and that feeling just sort of stuck in my mind. I got down on my knees and started praying. I asked the Lord to please help me write a song and to help me straighten out my life. By the time I ...

27 - Mary Gauthier - Mercy Now - cover by GeoMan I first heard this song played by Bob Reitman on WUWM in Milwaukee. Reitman was one of those DJs who used to work at WZMF in Menominee Falls, WI back in the late 60's-early 70's in what was called Underground Radio. Those WERE the days of real radio before commercialism killed rock radio.
