The Largest Snail on Earth: The Giant African Land Snail (GALS) - Manhiça - Mozambique - Africa The African giant snail, also called as the giant tiger land snail, is the largest snail from its family. The Giant Ghana snail is native to the forest of Ghana, Africa. Those snails are hermaphrodites, like almost all pulmonate gastropods. The shells of these snails grow s to 18 centimeters of length with a diameter of 9 centimeters, however, there are also bigger examples. Those snails lives in tropical condition where they do not have natural enemies. Each of those gigantic snails lays up to twelve hundred eggs per year that causing a big problem in natural habitat for the other, normal size snails that we have used to. The size does matter in this case, the Giant Tiger snail demolish around 500 kinds of plants and they also eat the stucco and paint on buildings. Those things cause that the local tree snails are threatened or to become extinct. Giant African land snail (GALS) may refer to two genera and three species within the family Achatinidae, a family of unusually large African terrestrial snails. Achatina, an African snail genus in the family Achatinidae. The Giant African Snail (Achatina achatina), in the genus Achatina, also known as the Agate Snail or Ghana Tiger Snail, which grows to be the largest land snail on Earth. The Giant East African Snail (Achatina fulica), in the genus Achatina, a serious agricultural pest in some countries Archachatina, an African snail genus in the family Achatinidae. Puerto Galera Tauchen Urlaub im schönen Philippinen A nudibranch is a member of what is now a taxonomic clade, and what was previously a suborder, of soft-bodied, marine opisthobranch gastropod mollusks which shed their shell after their larval stage. They are noted for their often extraordinary colors and striking forms. The clade Nudibranchia is the largest clade within the heterobranchs, with more than 3000 described species. The word "nudibranch" comes from the Latin nudus, ***, and the Greek brankhia, gills. Nudibranchs are often casually called "sea slugs", a non-scientific term. This has led some people to assume that every sea slug must be a nudibranch. Nudibranchs are very numerous in terms of species, and are often very attractive and noticeable, but there are a wide variety of other kinds of sea slugs, and these belong to several taxonomic groups that are not very closely related to nudibranchs. A fair number of these other sea slugs are colorful, and can be confused with nudibranchs. These other marine shell-less gastropods or "sea slug" groups include additional heterobranch shell-less gastropod groups such as the Cephalaspidea sea slugs including the colorful Aglajidae, and other heterobranchs such as the Sacoglossa, the sea butterflies, the sea angels, and the often rather large sea hares. The term sea slug is also sometimes loosely applied to the only very distantly related pelagic caenogastropods within the superfamily Carinarioidea, and may also be casually used for the even more distantly related ...

Fatass Leopard Slug! I sped it up so I could get a quicker amount of movement and as was obvious my voice sped up as well. I left it for the lol's, sounds like I'd consumed a good line of cocaine or something! This fatass was found hunkered inside what has become an observable underground ecosystem, where my parents pulled up a rotting dead plum tree, the hole has become a home for an array of species aside from this pretty little monster, including fowler's toads and burrowing frogs. I wanted to keep this fellow so bad, but a little note of interest: Slugs and other Gastropoda are harbors for nematodes that have been recently blamed for rare but possible contraction of parasitic meningitis and other maladies that are unpleasant. But what a beauty!

Doctor Who: The Twin Dilemma (DVD Trailer) A race of giant gastropods has taken over the planet Jaconda. Their leader, Mestor, now intends to cause an enormous explosion in order to spread his people's eggs throughout the galaxy, and he kidnaps juvenile twin geniuses from Earth to work out the necessary mathematical equations. Space fighters led by Lieutenant Hugo Lang are dispatched to get the twins back, but they come under attack and Lang is the sole survivor when his ship crashes on the asteroid Titan 3. The Doctor and Peri become involved and help Jaconda's elderly former ruler Professor Edgeworth, who is really a Time Lord named Azmael, to defeat Mestor and free the planet's bird-like indigenous people from the gastropods' reign of terror. Azmael, however, sacrifices his life in the process.

HD SLUGS AND BUGS A short video of some slugs and bugs taken in HD with a Sony HDR SR12e. Slug is a common non-scientific word, which is often applied to any gastropod mollusk whatsoever that has a very reduced shell, a small internal shell, or no shell at all. Gastropods with coiled shells that are big enough to retract into are called snails. Land gastropods with a shell that is not quite vestigial, but is too small to retract into, like many in the family Urocyclidae, are known as "semislugs". A slug-like body is an adaptation which has occurred many times in various groups of snails, both marine and terrestrial, but the common name "slug" is most frequently encountered as applied to air-breathing land species, including a few agricultural and horticultural pest species. Evolutionarily speaking, the loss or reduction of the shell in gastropods is a derived characteristic; the same basic body design has independently evolved many times, making slugs a strikingly polyphyletic group. In other words, the shell-less condition has arisen many times in the evolutionary past, and because of this, the various different taxonomic families of slugs, even just of land slugs, are not closely related to one another, despite a superficial similarity in the overall form of the body. Snail Gastropoda Ślimak The Gastropoda or gastropods are a large taxonomic class of mollusks that are more commonly known as snails and slugs. This class of animals includes snails and slugs of all kinds and all sizes: huge numbers of marine snails and sea slugs, as well as freshwater snails and freshwater limpets, and the terrestrial (land) snails and slugs. The class Gastropoda contains a vast number of named species, second only to the insects in overall number. The fossil history of this class goes all the way back to the Late Cambrian. There are 611 families of gastropods, of which 202 families are extinct and found only in the fossil record. [2] Gastropoda (previously known as univalves and sometimes spelled Gasteropoda) are a major part of the phylum Mollusca and are the most highly diversified class in the phylum, with 60000 to 80000[2][3] living snail and slug species. The anatomy, behavior, feeding and reproductive adaptations of gastropods vary very significantly from one clade or group to another. Therefore, it is difficult or impossible to make more than a few general statements that are valid for all gastropods. The class Gastropoda has an extraordinary diversification of habitats. Representatives live in gardens, in woodland, in deserts, and on mountains; in small ditches, great rivers and lakes; in estuaries, mudflats, the rocky intertidal, the sandy subtidal, in the abyssal depths of the oceans including the hydrothermal vents, and numerous other ecological niches, including ...
