Making a Flower Garland from Scratch My mom has been making garlands for the local Hindu temple pretty much every Saturday morning for the past year. She and a few other women get together with a huge cart of donated flowers and spend about 5 to 6 hours doing this. There's a special mid-week pooja at the temple today, and she's going to attend it. She decided to make some garlands at home for this event to take with her. I walked into the kitchen and caught her as she was making the last one. Garland's Final Fantasy VII Speed Run - Segment 22 This is a very luck reliant, but not very hard segment. First of all, we need to learn Death Sentence, and that's something we gotta do "on the run" to lose as little time as possible. It is learned from Sneaky Steps, so the first luck reliant part is to actually get a Sneaky Step battle. Thankfully, I have access to BrutalAl and he made a strategy that allowed me to always get a 3x Sneaky Step battle in the second area. A battle must be finished in order to learn a limit break, so you just have to throw that Right Arm immediately and hope one of the three Sneaky Steps uses it on Tifa. You also only want one of them to use Death Sentence, as it has a longer animation than the regular attack. Ideally, only one Sneaky Step should attack, but that's just not going to happen here. However, it's far from over if you learn it. Sneaky Steps also drop M-Tentacles, and they deal a ***load of damage, so it would be nice to have one for each Stinger battle. However, the chance of getting one is already low, so you can just imagine how likely it is to get two. With only one, you have to use Molotovs in the second Stinger battle, and that equals a time loss of 17 seconds compared to the M-Tentacle strategy. Then there's Gi Nattak. The strategy used here shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, but there's still plenty of time to save or lose in this battle. With ATB at Active, you are guaranteed that everyone gets a turn before you can throw the Elixir, and that's a 30 second time ...

Garland's Final Fantasy VII Speed Run - Segment 5 The key to a quick Air Buster battle is a critical limit break, but that's not something you will see very often, which is the reason why I saved before him. I got one in about 20 attempts, but then I screwed up naming Aerith, so I decided to play safe this time. After that failed attempt, I tried 30 more times without any luck before I took a four hour break. Then, I got it on my first attempt! Otherwise, this segment isn't too bad. There are a few things that can go wrong in the church, but thankfully, none of those happened this time. I was also very nervous durign the whole segment, so my running isn't perfect, but the most important thing is that I made it to Sector 5 without getting another battle. The reason why I pick up that Ether in the garden is so that I can afford all the Grenades I need now. If I hadn't picked it up, I would have had to buy more Grenades when I come back here later and that costs two seconds more than picking it up. Plus, I get 750 Gil extra. Save time: 40:48
Garland's Final Fantasy VII Speed Run - Segment 3 (Part 1) After more than 300 attempts, I finally nailed this segment. Now, that may sound like a lot, but at least 290 of them ended before I could leave the reactor. I think I only had five attempts where I reached the save point. This is a very tough segment for many reasons. First of all, you have to get out of the reactor without getting attacked by a 1st Ray or get Beam Gun'd by Grunts. These attacks have very long animations and must be avoided in a perfect run. I got out of the reactor with 8 minutes bland on the timer and that's something I only managed to do twice out of more than 300 attempts. That says something. When you finally get out of the reactor with an acceptable time, you have one big challenge on the train: talking to Jessie. She's standing between Wedge and the exit to the next car and if you run too far, the conductor with come running and yell at you for disturbing the other passengers. Running back to Barret afterwards can also be tricky, but the time loss is usually less than a second. This time, however, I managed to do it perfectly. That's the first time I've ever done that. Also, I had some trouble "hitting" the stairs in Sector 8 a while ago. I usually ran into the fence on one of the sides and got stuck. Thankfully, that never happened the ten or so times I got that far during the last couple of weeks. I guess this part is pretty much flawless, except for that one attack in one of the random battles and the fact that I safed when naming Tifa. I ...
