Fundy National Park - 2010 Geocaching Placement 3rd year of the Geocaching Challenge program at Fundy National Park. There will be 5 new geocaches to get a limited geocoin this year. The video highlights two trails, Tracey Lake Trail & Third Vault Trail. If you look closely, you will see plenty of hints as to where the geocaches are hidden. Both trails took about 3 hours to complete. The total challenge will take close to 6 hours to complete. Visit for more info about the Fundy Geocching Challenge. 166 people showed up for our event. Five new geocaches were published and the eager geocachers hit the trails. The reward this year was a special 60th anniversary of Fundy National Park, a non-trackable geocoin. The theme for the geocaches this year was "water", each cache brought geocachers to selected areas of the park which hilighted this theme. One example was the geocache "Fishy Facebook" where the nearby lake was the site of a new fishway which will allow the fish to travel between the lake & river system. Or "What's Up Doc?" where geocachers were guided down to the site of the many waterfalls that are located within the park. 105 geocachers started their day at 10am, but during the next few hours, another 61 had logged in. Many decided to take advantage of the weekend to book camping site and do the challenge over two days. Over twenty participants were able to log all five geocaches during the event duration. However, it was hard work as many returned with red faces and that look of exhaustion ...

Bay of Fundy Travel Show pilot: "Not Since Moses" race Pilot episode of our Bay of Fundy travel show featuring the 2nd Annual Not Since Moses race across the ocean floor. This race can happen only one day a year when the tide is extra low, enabling folks (with careful supervision) to run around Five Islands (Nova Scotia). It's a rare, really really rare, not since moses, chance to run and walk the bottom of the sea after it parts, right where 15 meters (45 feet) of water packed with flounder and bass flow a couple of hours before and after the event. The race consists of a 5k walk & a 10k run around the islands then, after the tide rises, a boat ride back. I spent from 5 am to 3 pm on the race site to capture this video - enjoy!!

Bay of Fundy Maritime Pilot being picked up from Caribbean Princess A Bay of Fundy Maritime Pilot is shown being picked up from the 3100 passenger Caribbean Princess, in high winds and choppy seas, after departure from Saint John, New Brunswick, Wed., Sept. 23, 2009. The pilot jumps gingerly onto the relatively small boat as it comes alongside the moving cruise ship, about 10-15 miles from port. Pilots are required by law for large ships in most major sea ports of the world. A pilot is a local mariner who guides ships safely through coastal waters. The pilot uses his knowledge of local ports, along with expertise in handling large vessels in confined waterways, to assist the captain and his staff while negotiating the ship into and out of port.

Fundy Baykeeper - Join CCNB Our Mission: The Fundy Baykeeper works for the Conservation Council to defend the public's right to a healthy Bay of Fundy. This right is inherent in laws written to protect the marine environment and the species that inhabit it. Too often, however, these laws are not enforced. Part investigator, scientist, lawyer, advocate and educator, the Fundy Baykeeper's top priority is to make sure environmental laws are enforced as citizens expect them to be. The Vessel: The Fundy Baykeeper uses a well-marked boat to patrol the Fundy coastline from Alma to St. Stephen. The goal is to spot and investigate environmental threats and take action to solve them. The Hotline: The Baykeeper maintains a mobile telephone hotline' so citizens can report pollution or other incidents that threaten the Bay of Fundy and its species. The Baykeeper investigates such reports and follows up with authorities when appropriate. Those reporting a problem may remain anonymous if they wish. Citizen Enforcement: The Fundy Baykeeper knows the laws that are meant to protect the Bay of Fundy and the enforcement authorities responsible for them. When violations are uncovered, the Baykeeper directly engages those authorities to make sure the laws actually work for the public and the bay. If authorities fail to act, the Baykeeper may take legal action to ensure the laws passed by our legislature and parliament are upheld. Stewardship: The Fundy Baykeeper educates citizens about the Bay of Fundy so everyone can ...

Fundy National Park - 2009 Geocaching Event & Hammock Camping Brief rundown of the geocaching event in Fundy national Park in Alma, New Brunswick Canada. We were expecting 60 people, but had 165 log in, making this the largest geocaching event in NB ever! GC1NZ16 More about the event can be found here: The second geocaching event in Fundy National Park gathered a record 165 (logbook signed) geocachers, making it the largest geocaching event in New Brunswick to date. With triple the expected numbers, the event organizers were partnered with the perfect weather in recent memory for opening weekend in Fundy National Park. The total distance to complete the 2009 series of geocaches was approximately 10km, taking up to 4 hours to complete. About 10% of the total participants were able to log all 5 during the event. A number of geocachers also took the opportunity to log some of the 2008 geocaches as there were still some 2008 geocoins available. Speaking of geocoins, the new 2009 geocoin was a trackable wood coin, etched locally. The 2009 geocoin was a 100% locally produced product better representing the National Park and the EcoIntegrity project better. While event organizers only planned on 60 participants, they were able to accommodate the large influx of geocachers. However the event was not 100% perfect as those who completed all 5 geocaches were not able to get their geocoin immediately since they were required to go to the visitor centre to get the geocoin, rather than at the event base. The visitor centre ...

Fundy Tides - Scotts Bay Timelapse For more on tides fundytides.ca Ever wonder what it was like living near the highest tides in the world - reaching a rise of up to 50 feet? Check out my other tided clips at YouTube and also http This time lapse shot at Scots Bay, NS, in the Bay of Fundy shows twelve hours of tide in only 120 seconds. People have often found themselves facing peril when they did not keep an eye on the clock while beach combing. When the tide is rolling in at an average rate of 8 feet of depth per hour it can be a chore just staying ahead of it.
