Tavish the Evasive - any promise will be broken for a Coalition deal Although the Gaelic forename and surname belie it, it has occasionally been suggested that Tavish Scott had some Viking blood in him, presumably because of his Lerwick roots and launching his candidacy for the LibDem leadership among a group dressed as Vikings at Up Helly Aa in 2008. I must say that, as a short-legged and once black haired wee Glaswegian, I would not have been in the least intimidated if Tavish had jumped off a longboat and ran up the beach at me in a horned helmet in days gone by. The instant assessment of the opposition required by a Glasgow east end childhood and young manhood would have instantly classed him as big safty - nae problem, Jimmy ... He's nice big guy, but niceness is something I value in people only if they don't have difficult decisions to make that affect my life, in which case I readily sacrifice niceness for decisiveness, integrity, principle, and bluntly, cojones. And so to Tavish Scott, faux Viking and putative coalition member in the post May 5th Holyrood. I never know whether to attack the LibDems or not, in these confusing political days we live in, since some evidence suggests that disillusioned Scottish LibDems are shifting their allegiance mainly to Labour. Presumably the closet Tories among the Scottish LibDems are not disillusioned, and are rather like CofE people creeping towards the Church of Rome in search of ultimate certainties. But who knows? What adjectives come to mind in describing Tavish? The ones that jump to my ...

The Matador-Major Lance-'64-Okeh 7191.wmv Major Lance (April 4, 1939[1] September 3, 1994) was an American R&B singer. After a number of US hits in the 1960s, including "The Monkey Time" and "Um, Um, Um, Um, Um, Um", he became an iconic figure in Britain in the 1970s among followers of Northern soul.Major Lance was born in Winterville, Mississippi. Major was his given forename.[2] As a child, he relocated with his family to Chicago, attending Wells High School - the same school as Curtis Mayfield and Jerry Butler - taking up boxing and also singing as a member of the Five Gospel Harmonaires.[3][4] In the mid-1950s, he and singer Otis Leavill formed a group, the Floats, who broke up before recording any material. Lance became a featured dancer on a local TV show, and presenter Jim Lounsbury secured him a one-off record deal with Mercury Records, who released his single "I Got a Girl", written and produced by Curtis Mayfield, in 1959. The record was not successful, and Lance worked at various jobs over the next few years.[3] In 1962 he signed with OKeh Records on Mayfield's recommendation.[3] His first single, "Delilah", was not successful, but established his partnership with a writing and arranging team of Mayfield, Carl Davis, and Johnny Pate, often with members of Mayfield's group The Impressions on backing vocals. Together they developed a distinctive, Latin-tinged sound which epitomised Chicago soul in contrast to music recorded elsewhere.[3][2] The second Okeh single, "The Monkey Time", became a #2 Billboard ...

TITANIC 1997 - Rochelle Rose is Countess of Rothes Lucy Noël Martha Leslie, Countess of Rothes (25 December 1884 12 September 1956) was the wife of the 19th Earl of Rothes, whom she married on 19 April 1900. "Noëlle," as she spelled her forename of choice, was the only child of Thomas and Clementina Dyer-Edwardes. Countess of Rothes is best known as a survivor of the RMS Titanic. She embarked at Southampton with her parents, Thomas and Clementina Dyer-Edwardes, cousin Gladys Cherry, and maid Roberta Maioni. Her parents disembarked at Cherbourg, while the others continued, en route for New York and possibly Vancouver, British Columbia. While Lady Rothes and her cousin were originally installed in the first class basic cabin C37, it is possible they upgraded to a more commodious suite, C77 (in an interview with the American press, she has been quoted as having said she and her cousin stayed in stateroom B77). The Countess, her cousin and maid were rescued in lifeboat 8. She died in Hove, Sus***, on 12 September 1956, having suffered for some time from heart disease. In James Cameron's Titanic from 1997 she was played by Rochelle Rose (22 years old back then).

Fridolin Braungardt: Waldesrauschen, Idyll Op. 6 In English the title means 'Woodland rustlings". No, this is not the Liszt concert study, but a once-popular salon piece with the same name. I had no success in finding any biographical information about the composer, until a YouTube viewer kindly helped me out with this link:: www.romana- (Karl Julius) Fridolin Braungardt (1829-66) was a German pianist and teacher who took his own life aged 37 whilst suffering from mental instability. Because his forename is often abbreviated as 'Fr. ' his name has sometimes been erroneously quoted as 'Franz'. ' Waldesrauschen' was his big success, issued by some 30 publishing houses internationally. . Note that the middle section is in a highly contrasting (almost antiquated) style. There is a rather ambiguous repeat mark about a third of the way through the score, and my interpretation may vary from other versions. My copy is in G major, but the piece is also published in G flat. --------------------------------------- Played by Phillip Sear
