Non Newtonian Fluids So this was just an engineering class project thing I did. I suppose if someone was doing something similar, this video could be of some use for you. Some info if you'd like: -Oobleck is what we used and the name really did come from a Dr.Suess novel. -A non-newtonian fluid is a fluid whose viscosity can change independent of temperature. -We couldn't find anywhere else to test above 100 ft. This means inconclusive? -The video jumps a little bit because of camera problems. Oh well. =] Song: Another World - Cynic Project Oh yeah, we got this idea from watching arthurschwieger video on the same idea. A good amount of credit goes to them. =]

Flow of ants and ants as fluids Micah Streiff, Nathan Mlot, Sho Shinotsuka, Alex Alexeev, David Hu, "Ants as Fluids: Physics-Inspired Biology," ArXiv, 15 Oct 2010. "Fire ants use their claws to grip diverse surfaces, including each other. As a result of their mutual adhesion and large numbers, ant colonies flow like inanimate fluids. In this sequence of films, we demonstrate how ants behave similarly to the spreading of drops, the capillary rise of menisci, and gravity-driven flow down a wall. By emulating the flow of fluids, ant colonies can remain united under stressful conditions."

20. Fluid Dynamics and Statics and Bernoulli's Equation Fundamentals of Physics (PHYS 200) The focus of the lecture is on fluid dynamics and statics. Different properties are discussed, such as density and pressure. Archimedes' Principle is introduced and demonstrated through a number of problems. The final topic of the lecture is Bernoulli's Equation. Complete course materials are available at the Open Yale Courses website: open.yale.edu This course was recorded in Fall 2006.

Giving sub-q fluids Giving sub-cutaneous (sub-q) fluids to a cat with CRF (chronic renal failure) or kidney disease. Note: I've learned since the making of this video that if you are recapping the needles, it's best to do it one-handed (lying the cap on the floor or counter, then sliding the syringe into it and tapping on a surface). Note also: I've learned that B-complex injectable is available without a prescription. If you find my video helpful, please take the time to give me a ranking. Thanks! Sachiko Kodama & Minako Takeno - Protrude, Flow 2001 A new magnetic fluid device is developed in which the magnetic fluid is manipulated in sync with sound. The magnetic fluid moves due to changes in a magnetic field produced by several electromagnets installed above and below a shallow, horizontal acrylic panel in which the magnetic fluid is held. The voltage to each electromagnet is controlled according to sound input by computer processing, making the fluid pulsate like a living thing. In this paper, we propose the concept and design of the magnetic fluid display, and discuss the results of a demonstration of a trial wide-screen projection of the working device. Non-newtonian fluid: IT'S ALIVE! [HD] My experiment about non newtonian fluid in forced resonance using a loudspeaker with various kind of waves and frequencies. the last test is done with a 120hz sine wave. from Wikipedia: A non-Newtonian fluid is a fluid whose flow properties are not described by a single constant value of viscosity. Many polymer solutions and molten polymers are non-Newtonian fluids, as are many commonly found substances such as ketchup, starch suspensions, paint, blood and shampoo. In a Newtonian fluid, the relation between the shear stress and the strain rate is linear (and if one were to plot this relationship, it would pass through the origin), the constant of proportionality being the coefficient of viscosity. In a non-Newtonian fluid, the relation between the shear stress and the strain rate is nonlinear, and can even be time-dependent. Therefore a constant coefficient of viscosity can not be defined. A ratio between shear stress and rate of strain (or shear-dependent viscosity) can be defined, this concept being more useful for fluids without time-dependent behavior.
