  • Endothermic & Exothermic Electric Discharges Everyone knows that electricity can be used to generate heat. What most people don't know is that electricity can also be used to generate cold. These two reactions are called exothermic and endothermic. Exothermic means energy is radiated outward. Which usually generates heat or heating. Endothermic means energy is radiated inward which usually generates cold or cooling. Both effects have a distinct sound when done rapidly. Exothermic will have a loud snap or bang. This is because the reaction forces air and energy away from the point of discharge, making a temporary vacuum which is then quickly filled in by the surrounding air, creating a snapping sound. Endothermic however does not make a loud snap or bang. This is because the reaction absorbs energy around it. This makes a ping sound, like when you hit a piece of hollow medal with a vacuum inside. Endothermic discharges are also hard to capture on camera because some of the photons from the discharge are quickly absorbed into the vacuum.

  • HEXO-EXO THERMITE TORCH FIRST DRY CUT WITH NEW EXOTHERMIC TORCH.3gp This is the first day on this job using my designed and built exothermic torch to remove all the welds connecting the layers of this weight. I built this torch with the intent of removing my gripes from Underwater torches. I added several features that a qualified torch burner would want. Control of his O2 pressure settings. Control over Purity of O2 WHICH NO OTHER TORCH HAS. Never collet to change out and being able to switch from a 1/4" to a 3/8" rod and make no adjustments. And no other torch does this either.

  • Exothermic cutting electrode The REMTECH ROD is an oxygen exothermic cutting electrode. It can be used with any collet equipped underwater cutting torch such as REMTECH-2 Torch or Broco BR-22 Underwater Cutting Torch. The REMTECH ROD must be provided with a constant oxygen supply at adequate pressure and flow rate for its working depthand may be used at a maximum efficiency by providing a DC electric current on straight polarity (negative electrode) at proper amperage for its working depth. The REMTECH ROD may be used with a 20% decrease in efficiency by providing the necessary oxygen supply and simply starting combustion with the spark energy of a 12- volt battery in momentary contact. The REMTECH-2 slice cutting system can cut, burn or pierce virtually any metallic, non-metallic or composite material. The system cuts through hard-to-cut materials such as stainless steels, cast iron, aluminium, magnesium plus many other ferrous and non-ferrous metals, even when it is caked with mud, rust or other corrosion. It will cut through slag and refractory materials and can punch through concrete or brick. The REMTECH-2 slice is a must for maintenance and repair departments, it can remove headless bolts and frozen pins, cut insulated pipes and ducting, cut through coated structural steel, burn through bridge steel and decking, cut concrete lined pipes, cut through or remove hardfacing from buckets and wear surfaces plus many other tasks. Because the REMTECH-2 slice system needs no ...
  • HEXO-EXO exothermic torch for wet or dry cutting The HEXO-EXO TORCH is an Exothermic torch that I designed and built for the commercal diving industry or any industrial application that THERMITE RODS are used. ABOUT THE TORCH, All the internal and external parts excluding the main body was fabricated in our shop. Local speciality machine shops were used on some parts. As a commercial Diver I was not satisified with the existing torches on the market. So, like any good diver should do I wrote down my gripes and redesigned and built my own torch eliminating each gripe as I went. As I built the torch I discovered additional ways to improve on it. So I continued to add more and more options. in the end I added up the cost for these additions and it amounted to about 100 dollars in materials. None of the added features I have built are existing in any other torch. For example; no collets, I can change from 1/4" to 3/8" rods as I choose with no adjustments or changing anything. I control O2 purity and pressure. I added an Oxygen oneway safety check valve and use a 950 amps battery to initiate the burn,All electrical connections are exterior and sealed. I added a forestock so a diver doesn't have to touch the rod during buring. I am Using exothermic rods designed for Underwater use. The same Thermite rods I most frequently use Normally for cutting. In this job I am removing about 14' of weld 1" wide 3/4" deep in about 10 minutes. I'll do an inwater video next. and do it in the same or near the same time.

  • Chemistry Music Video 21: Exo, Endo, What's The Diff This song describes the difference between exothermic and endothermic potential energy diagrams. All music and lyrics copyright 2007 by Mark Rosengarten. All rights reserved. Lyrics: Map it, graph it show me how Reaction PE change Exo, endo, whats the diff? Whys it look so strange? Reaction coordinate on the X PE on the Y Time to draw a PE graph Or at least to try! Heat of reactants where we start The left side, on the nose Activation energy Is what we need to go! Activate your reactants, yeah Take it to the top The activated complex Is too hot to stop! The activated complex Breaks up at the end It will form your products Look how that line bends! Map it, graph it show me how Reaction PE change Exo, endo, whats the diff? Whys it look so strange? (Exothermicnegative delta H) If you start reactants high End with products low Its an exothermic change Say it once more, slow! (Exothermicnegative delta Hnegative delta H) EX-OH-THERM-IC CHANGE! ITS NOT STRANGE! (I think the guy who wrote this song is deranged!) If you start reactants low Products higher still Its an endothermic change That means it is a-chill! (Endothermicpositive delta H) EN-DO-THERM-IC CHANGE! ITS NOT STRANGE! (North Dakota has a town called Home On The Range!) Map it, graph it show me how These diagrams bring me joy I dont ever want to end this song
