  • Exegesis: Matthew 5:22, in exemplo WaitingForChrist, Nathan Nathan, WaitingforChrist describes recently and may be perhaps more exegetical, than Matthew 5. He provides an example of what I wanted to go back over, as I said, of Matthew 5:22 in which is proved the saying "Be angry and do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your anger". Anger is fine but wroth, or wrath, is ungodly. You can preach all about hell and damnation, if you dare, if you think it's right, if you think it's God's message, over some nebulous idea of salvation, the cost of doing what's wrong over the undefined benefit of doing what's right, both in this world, the benefit, and in the next, which Paul describes as a reward "far better". The scales of justice do swing and those without that sense that right should be done are duly and justly called a 'reprobate,' but terrifying your audience, and I'm not claiming he did that, per se, is not the point, but God's justice and grace in giving us a wonderful life with him both terrestrially and celestially, that my friends and my foes, that is the point.
