Failed Upstream Fencing at the Camas Creek Allotment Exclosure Recorded on July 29, 2010 using a Flip Video camcorder.

Video report Quality Deer Management call 215 651 8329 http "Trees such as hemlock, yellow birch, cedar, and Canada yew are species that often have a hard time regenerating, even under good conditions," said Peczynski. "Providing fences eliminates one of the impediments of their successful regeneration - deer herbivory." To date, eight deer exclosures of various sizes ranging from 0.5 - 2.5 acres have been built on the District in hardwood stands where mature hemlock and yellow birch are already present. Metal T-posts, combined with either plastic deer fence or steel field fence, are used in the construction of the exclosures. The height of the fences range from 6.5 - 7.5 feet and 600 - 1320 feet of fence are used per exclosure. Peczynski is pleased about the regeneration effort and hopes to construct more exclosures in the future. He is looking at building exclosures in canopy gaps around the District not to only prevent deer from eating cedar, hemlock, Canada yew, and yellow birch, but also to protect naturally regenerated white ash and basswood. Ash and basswood are shade-intolerant species and are rarely seen regenerating outside of canopy gaps or other large open areas in the Forest. "Fencing improves the survival of seedlings and saplings, but there is still some mortality occurring from other causes such as excessive shade, dry site conditions, competition for other vegetation, and in some cases, rodent damage," Pecynski added.

Streets Is All I Know (FIRST SONG EVER) Lyrics: Verse 1: Yeah Alright Young Depression Hey yo LP, Whats UP? Go to Sleep Full Of Stress Wake Up feeling all depressed Feeling like your stuck in pits Hurry up and Go Get dress Your feeling like it's pointless to move on, so you dont So you sit and let the chances go Can take them, but you wont Had alot of opportunitiys But still you let em fly Didnt think you had a chance cuz you feel youself alive? You cover youself up, till you cannot recognize Surprise you can't remember when you really try to realize But its hard to get up When your feeling fed up Every day just on curve, hoping life was speed up Thats me At the point And im feeling so lost Got me pulling on my hood, its like im freezing in the frost Damn i need a break Life isn't like a school Cause it's got you working everyday Your feeling like a tool At the end of the day, theres only one thing that remains The scars and pain that you feel you hear your name Hook And i've been through the struggle Been Through the pain I Wanna get away, so i can ease my brain In the end of the day The streets is all i know And i will ride for my city Die for my Hood in the end, it will do me no good If i just wait Where The streets is all i know Verse 2: I ride to beat Cry to streets Better get a little exposure get fired when i get fired up To being a little exclosure But its over Tough and Rough Somebody call in Jesus Kids get popped Peanut Butter Cups Better yet Reese's Pieces Boy you better catch my thesis You don't ...

Auwahi Planting 12-22-2007 Excerpts We are excited to return to Auwahi I to plant some special plants, the inconspicuous and dainty sprawling pea Vigna o-wahuensis. This vine used to grow along the leeward slopes of Haleakala, but is now very uncommon and is listed as endangered. Thanks to a recent discovery of a small population on Pu'u-ouli just above Auwahi, we have some keiki to plant into the first exclosure. We hope you enjoy this 3 minute video excerpt of our planting trip . Watch as we give back to the forest in a rewarding and meaningful way.

Savannah monitor having a treat. Miles, my 5 month old Savannah monitor (Bosc's Monitor) having a pinky as a special treat. He had just finished digging a hole for the fun of it is why the glass is a little dirty. This isn't his perminant home, he has a new exclosure on stand-by once he outgrows this one. Miles, like all of my reptiles, was rescued by me after his previous owners abandoned him, PLEASE do your homework before you EVER consider buying a reptile. Many reptiles, like monitors, have very specialized needs and can sometimes grow to be very large! Never buy a reptile just because it looks cool.
