  • Across Colors and Ethnicities... Interracial marriage, dating, family, adoptions and friendships are important subjects. I talk about them because they affect all of us in either direct or indirect ways. I have never been in an interracial dating relationship and in fact don't even want to think about dating at this point in my life when I have so many other things I'm focussing on. Yet, this issue is still important to me since I'm part of humanity (the human race:)... I ended up rambling for about 40 minutes and found myself worrying a lot about the semantics of what I was saying! I hope that, even with editing, I've conveyed my thoughts accurately! Sometimes it's so much easier to write and backspace than to talk and edit:) Please watch the whole video... I never said that everyone needs to be in an interracial relationship! I also never implied that or culture would make it easy... just that it might be worth it if you've found someone you truly love. I think my main point is that race isn't really an objective impediment unless you find it to subjectively be one. Overall, I think most will agree that when someone does find their possible lifelong spouse and best friend, it's a blessing to be treasured and embraced. I believe this extends across race and ethnicity... because a lot of people wait a whole lifetime for that!!! I was inspired to make this video after stumbling upon ahopki01's video. I really liked her tree ***ogy! If you're interested, here's a link to ahopki01's video:

  • ThinkFWD - Efrem Smith - Can the Church Become Post-Racial Pastor Efrem Smith and Spencer Burke take a break at the National Pastor's Convention in San Diego, California, to talk about the dream of a Church that transcends the lines of race, ethnicity and theological divides. Although he grew up going to an all-black church, Efrem remembers attending an event when he was 17 where there were multiple races and ethnicities gathered together and he thought, "This is the way church is supposed to be." Today he pastors a church that is multi-racial-a body of Whites, African Americans, Asians, Latinos-and he challenges listeners to decide, "Should church be different? Should we rethink our vision of church as Black/White/Charismatic/mainline/etc.?" (MORE INFO - SUBSCRIBE http - FOLLOW - JOIN ) Efrem and Spencer discuss how it was important for immigrants and first generations to have churches that were single ethnicities or theologies. They were safe places, places to assimilate and strengthen their community. But after second and third generations-perhaps this generation-people have moved beyond color or denominational barriers. Perhaps the church should be dreaming and casting a vision toward a broader multi-ethnic Church. (In fact, the Church has not moved as fast as the nation and is one of the institutions that tends to remain segregated-Black pastor, Black congregation; White pastor, White congregation). Efrem's question for his and other churches is this: Can we build a church ...
  • Racial stereotypes in Children's Entertainment The perpetuation of racial and ethnic stereotypes by the media is an ongoing and real phenomenon that can be seen in children's entertainment television shows and movies. The problematic factor in these entertainment outlets is that there is clearly an inundation of racial and ethnic scripts presented to toddlers and adolescents at an age when it is difficult to be socially critical of these stereotypes. When images of a young Black-American boy speaking "street talk" who has a niche for dancing hip-hop well, or an Asian-American toddler girl with slanted eyes wearing a traditional kimono is shown in a cartoon, these racial stereotypes will flood the children's learning schema during these delicate and very impressionable years. Child psychology will provide several different theories in order to better assess how the learning schemas of racial and ethnic generalizations are being created at a very young age.

  • Multicultural Worship The seventh episode of the "A Religion for Our Time" video series illustrates how worship at All Souls Church, Unitarian, in Washington, DC, is designed to serve a diverse community. Worship planners at All Souls ask themselves every single week, "How will we reflect in worship the experience and traditions of many different cultures?" Honoring the multiculturalism of the congregation and the neighborhood is an intentional process at the heart of All Souls. And it's a process that can be used in any Unitarian Universalist congregation.

  • Black African American Wake Up! Black Americans are a Multi-ethnical race! Races are MULTI-ETHNICAL & Ethnicities are MULTI-RACIAL Black African Americans Wake Up! We are the true jews of America; we are black racially which is based in the United states off of primary sub saharan African lineage and African American ethnically which is based on partial ancestral lineage to North American chattel slavery, the fact that our ethnicity is multiracial only gives us a constant connection with other races. Stop letting ignorance trap us in blackness exclusively. I am black racially (physically) but I am also a part of an ethnicity (spirituality) that is multiracial. It is not for the multiracial majority in the African Americans ethnicity nor the mono race majority in the Black Americans race to fight over us Black African American, but I guess that is the fight; the freedom of duality.

  • Intergenerational Transmission of Religion and Ethnicity Indian Hindus and Korean Protestants Visit for full video. This is a book project that compares Indian Hindus and Korean Protestants in their intergenerational transmission of religion and ethnicity through religion. It is based on several data sources: (1) ethnographic research on a Hindu temple and a Korean Protestant church in Queens, New York City, (2) personal interviews with Indian Hindu and Korean Protestant immigrants in New York, (3) surveys of Indian Hindu/Korean Protestant immigrants and 1.5-/2nd-generation Korean Protestants on their religious affiliation and participation, (4) a telephone survey of Korean English-language congregations in New York, and (5) personal interviews with 1.5- and 2 nd-generation Indian Hindus and Korean Protestants in New York. The traditional literature on immigrant/ethnic congregations emphasizes congregations or participation in congregations as the major religious mechanism for the preservation of ethnicity. From this perspective, Korean Protestant immigrants who participate in a religious institution far more frequently than Indian Hindus are likely to have advantages over Indian Hindus for maintaining their ethnicity through religion. However, Indian Hindu immigrants practice their religion mainly through family rituals. Moreover, because Hinduism, as a religion indigenous to India, has incorporated many elements of Indian folk culture, such as food, life-cycle events, holidays, music and dance, Indian immigrants’ religious practices both in ...

  • Ethnicity and Identity Part 1 As the world becomes smaller and more interconnected, old ways of thinking become less and less suitable. New ways of understanding things must be introduced to adapt to new phenomenons; this documentary attempts to do just that. For most people, ethnicity and identity are seen as one thing. However, I theorize that in the future these two concepts will grow further apart and at the same time become vague. This piece serves as a window into the future as well as into my own personal thoughts.

  • Ending stereotypes for america pt. 1 ancient Africa Goals: 1) Spread knowledge about advanced African kingdoms and black inventors and scientists who have helped shape and change our world. This will reduce the belief that there are innate differences between people of different colors and ethnicities. 2) Get the real African history into our classrooms when appropriate. Many schools cover the advanced kingdoms of Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas, but focus only on the most primitive people in Africa; ignoring Africa's advanced civilizations, which better represent the continent. Africa's most primitive people—the Bushman, Pygmies, and Maasai—make up less than .001% of Africa's population, yet those are who we see the most on TV, in movies, in magazines, etc. 3) Act as watchdogs *History books, encyclopedias, TV documentaries, movies, and the like often don't include the advanced kingdoms of Africa and black inventors and scientists. They will list the ethnicity--Scottish-America, German-America, for instance--of a white inventor, but not say when an inventor is black; we have to make sure this practice stops. Furthermore, encyclopedias may only have 2 paragraphs on an advanced African kingdom, but have 4 pages on a similar non-African kingdom. That must change.
  • MQM foiled Conspiracy to instigate Pakhtoon-Muhajir riots in Karachi, Press Conference People in Orangi Town, Qasba Colony, Aligarh Colony and other areas were subjected to violence and a number of innocent people including workers of the MQM were targeted in order to instigate Pakhtoon-Muhajir riots. We appeal to people belonging to all the nationalities living in Karachi not to fall prey to conspiracies and defeat the vile attempts of to create mayhem in Karachi and co-operate with the government. This press conference has been called to inform the journalist fraternity about the conspiracy behind the events unfolding in Karachi in the last few days. You are well aware that Karachi is home to different linguistic groups and ethnicities that have been living together peacefully for many years. The manner in which the MQM served the people of Karachi, setting aside the prejudices of language and ethnicity during the previous government when the administration of the city was in control of the ***ms belonging to the MQM, is recognized even by our adversaries. There was no linguistic tension in Karachi in that period but a conspiracy has been hatched to create hostilities among various nationalities living here particularly the Pashtoons and the Muhajirs. An unending series of violence starts in Karachi on the pretext of any incident and innocent citizens are targeted. People living in Orangi Town, Qasba Colony, Aligarh, and areas adjoining to Kati Pahari are particularly made victim of terrorist attacks. A similar fiery situation erupted in the past week ...

  • The DNA Discussion Project @ West Chester University [medium] This video [medium version] was created on April 11, 2009 to promote the DNA Discussion Project at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. The project was started in 2006 by Dr. Anita Foeman, a professor in the Department of Communication Studies. Its goal is to encourage people on and around campus to talk about their diversity. The project is broken into three parts: 1) A pre-interview where a participant explains his or her beliefs about that person's ethnicity; 2) A DNA test where cells are taken from the inside of the mouth and sent to a lab for ***ysis; and 3) A post-test interview in which the participant reveals what he or she learned after receiving the results. Another goal of the project is to expand the idea that people are not 100% one ethnicity or 50/50 between two ethnicities: The fact is most of us are a blend, even though we may not know it. The video was created by Nathan Kutz, an undergraduate Communication Studies student with interest in intercultural communication and technology. For more information visit

  • Д.Медведев.С духовными лидерами мусульман России.15.07.09 Opening Remarks at Meeting with Muslim Spiritual Leaders of Russia. July 15, 2009 Moscow Вступительное слово на встрече с духовными лидерами мусульман России. 15 июля 2009 года Москва PRESIDENT OF RUSSIA DMITRY MEDVEDEV: Respected muftis, It gives me great pleasure to meet with you, especially since we are meeting in a special place, the Moscow Cathedral Mosque complex, which was opened 105 years ago. The fact that major reconstruction is underway here today is indicative of both our overall interest in our spiritual heritage and the fact that we are a nation of many ethnicities and faiths, and the Muslims of our nation have due respect and influence in our country. Muslim religious organisations make important contributions to supporting civil order, to providing spiritual and moral guidance to an enormous number of people, and to fighting extremism and xenophobia. After all, about 182 different ethnicities live in Russia (the exact figure depends on how one counts, since this is a complicated process, especially when counting ethnicities in the Caucasus), of which 57 identify themselves with the Muslim faith; this, in and of itself, is an important indicator of the importance of Islam in our country. In the last few years, weve built up some good experience in communication and cooperation between Muslim communities and the Government, including through the Council for Cooperation with Religious Organisations, chaired by the President of the Russian Federation, and ...

  • Black Hebrewism There is no reason to get deep into this subject, but be logical, short and sweet and to the point. The Black Israelite and or Black Hebrew movement many times tend to be the black version of white supremacist groups, movements and organizations. The majority of what they say is half truths as well as historically and scholarly manipulated propaganda. They give real and proven black Jews of Africa, such as the Lemba, who are proven to be of the Israeli tribe of Levi and Ibu, which comes from the Israeli tribe of Gad through Gads son Eri, a bad name. Because of the bad taste and exclusivity of the message of Black Hebrewism and Black Israelites has left in the mouth of Messianic and Natsari Judaism at large, it makes it difficult to solicit support for these black Jews from dominantly white or lighter skinned Messianic and Natsari Congregations. Jews and Hebrews come from Shem the son of Noah which was of a dark complexion and was the father of all the Semitic and Arab peoples, but Shem was not as dark as his brother Hamm who was the father of all the black ethnicities. Japheth is the father of the Caucasian ethnicities. Some Jews today are black because of interracial relationships due to the plague of exiles, captivities and persecutions that the Sons of Abraham has endured through out the ages. Also there is a strong possibility that some on the handmaids of Jacob, from which some of tribes were born, may have been black and thus some of the tribes of Israel may have ...
