  • Calorimetric determination of Enthalpy of Combustion Early experimental effort at providing home tuition in chemistry via YouTube. Please visit for later efforts using a better video camera. A simple calorimetric approach is used to determine the molar enthalpy change of combustion of methanol. This videoclip looks at the practical details and the mathematical calculations used to get joules from temperature change. 0.6g of methanol (CH3OH) is burned - causing the temperature of 100g of water (specific heat capacity 4.2J/g/K) to rise by 20 celcius. The enthalpy change is determined to be -420 kJ/mol. This value will be lower than expected due to heat losses to the surroundings. • Use of Bond Energies to determine Enthalpy of Combustion Early experimental effort at providing home tuition in chemistry via YouTube. Please visit for later efforts using a better video camera. Determination of the approximate enthalpy change of combustion of methane using average bond energy terms. This method gives an estimate of the reaction's enthalpy change. For example, CH bonds appear in many differnt compounds. The surrounding groups can influence the strength of bonds. Chemists have assigned an average bond energy to each bond to allow them to be used to estimate enthalpy changes for reactions. To find a really exothermic reaction one wants a reaction where the reactants have relatively weak bonds and the products relatively strong bonds.

However I feel that I should upload something art related since I haven't done that since... man, last summer? And also I've been getting msgs from a couple of ppl about this anime/manga of mine, so here are some submissions related to it, although there's nothing new here. But people on youtube probably haven't seen these. For those who subscribed for music, well, erh... this song is by me, from a long time ago tho. It's called "The Dark Side", it's up on my site at Anyway, these are just artworks for my anime "Enthalpy". Annotations will explain stuff =_=;; Most of these artworks are from years ago. All the drawings are up on my DA at Other videos related to this manga Thanks for the comments n stuff. Knowing the ppl actually know about my manga and wanna see stuff from it really helps keep the production going. Most of my real life friends don't know about this kuz... erh... they're not artistic and aren't into these things =_=;; and I feel awkward showing my productions (music and art) to most of them =____=;; Especially if they're like... sitting beside me.... Please visit for later efforts using a better video camera. To get an enthalpy of formation from 3 enthalpies of combustion. While the short method is usually best, it assumes that the oxygen atoms balance. Here, on one occasion, an effort is made to show that everything does tally up. This method is like algebra - you add, multiply and rearrange chemical equations! I have provided a help sheet here: Answer should be displayed like this: Enthalpy = (-786)+ (-858) + (1371) = -273 kJ/mol The marker can quickly see where any mistake has been made - thus awarding some marks for an incorrect final answer! • Enthalpy and Enthalpy Change .mp4 is where to download the entire video. This video clearly explains what enthalpy is and what is meant by enthalpy change (⌂H). Using graphs and easy to read equations, you are shown how enthalpy is involved in endothermic and exothermic reactions. Two different methods for showing enthalpy changes are explained: Writing ⌂H beside an equation, and putting a "heat term" right in the equation. You are shown how to use these methods to determine whether a reaction is endothermic or exothermic.

I don't know if I'll actually use this ending (probably not, but something similar to this maybe), kuz it's um.. kinda way too bittersweet & disappointing =_=;; Eeek, it's kind of a Naruto and Sasuke moment LoL.
