Solon an Athenian statesman, lawmaker, and elegiac poet Solon (ancient Greek: Σόλων, c. 638 BC558 BC) was an Athenian statesman, lawmaker, and elegiac poet. He is remembered particularly for his efforts to legislate against political, economic and moral decline in archaic Athens. His reforms failed in the short term yet he is often credited with having laid the foundations for Athenian democracy.

Elegiac - Ryan-of-the-Metal Well, we all know about how Fruity Loops' presets and how everyone bloody overuses them. Now it's my turn to bother everyone with some of my presets. :D Anyway, I got a new guitar, I'm so elated. ^_^ It's an Axl Fireax Bloodsport if anyone's wondering, an nice little guitar with a totally unique shape, 3 pickups and a tremolo system liscenced by Floyd Rose!! :D So I'm glad and all, tuned that biznatch down to C standard. Anyway, I'm hoping to make a weird subgenre of metal, I guess called 'interperative metal'? I wouldn't assume that it's interchangable with psychadelic metal or shegoaze, but I'm not even sure myself. This is mildly influenced by Fanatical, but far more upbeat. The Human Abstract - Elegiac Cover (All Guitars) Ostensibly, this is the first song on Digital Veil that probably sounds amazing. But I wouldn't know because I don't have my hands on it. (I pre-ordered my album, so don't get huffy.) FOUR PART HARMONY NEVER SOUNDED SO BEAUTIFUL. ...except when the bass is out of tune, argh. And man, my pseudo-classical guitar skills suck. Tab (get it while it's still up):

LATIN POETRY Catullus 101 (Elegiac couplet) One of the saddest poems I've ever read. And also a good example of elegiac couplet, which is formed by combining an hexameter followed by a pentameter. The hexameter has the following scansion: _ _ / _ _ / _ _ / _ _ / _ uu / _ _ And then a pentameter: _ _ / _ _/ _ // _ uu /_ uu / _ (_ = long, u = short, in some cases -look in Wikipedia or wherever- a long can be replaced by two shorts): So basically the poem is hexameter-pentameter-hexameter-pentameter-and-so-on. I learned latin independently, so the pronunciation, the rythm, the entonation and everything basically comes from what I understood studying with books and without receiving any kind of feedback. Therefore, I do not know if I am doing it right and will IMMENSELY appreciate your comments. Thanks! By the way, the drawings are by Gustave Doré and the music is by Edvard Grieg (Sonata for cello and piano in A minor, Op. 36, 2nd movement)

"Elegy / Elegiac" by Tiu de Haan（Home-made Music Video） In response to a recent booming popularity of this song by Tiu de Haan, Elegy / Elegiac, composed, arranged and produced by Henry Jackman, I have just made a brand new attempt on homemaking a music video dedicated to this track, which has been selected to be one of the background music for a most-watched TV drama series on TVB channel in Hong Kong, "Born Rich"（《富貴門》or phonetically transliterated in Putonghua as "Fu Gui Men"）. The melodies of this song are a combination of modern approach of electronica and classical opera, which is adapted based on "Dido and Æneas" by Henry Purcell, which is also known as "Dido's Lament" or "When I am laid on earth" , a renowned piece of aria which has been well received for its various subsequent renditions by numerous singers and aria artistes alike since its first performance many centuries ago. A slight modification made to the lyrics by the producer Henry Jackman to this song, a track from his studio album, "Transfiguration", released in 2005, comes as follows for reference and no copyright infringement is intended: When I am laid I'm laid in the Earth May my wrongs create no sorrow No sorrow in your heart. Remember me. Remember me. Ah... Don't forget my fate. Remember me. But ah... forget my face. For more details of this song, please go and visit the following websites: Myspace Tiu de Haan Myspace for the producer and composer, Henry Pryce Jackman

Mengelberg - Grieg - Two Elegiac Melodies for Orchestra, Op 34 1. The wounded heart 2. Last Spring Willem Mengelberg Born: March 28, 1871 - Utrecht, Holland Died: March 21, 1951 - Chur, Switzerland Grieg(1843-1907) In the late 1860s Grieg married his cousin, Nina Hagerup, and settled in Christiania (now much less charmingly named Oslo). Life couldn't have been easy, eking out a living from teaching and conducting, particularly as his over-zealous studies in Leipzig had permanently damaged his health. Then, in 1874, still aged only 31, came a stroke of good fortune: he was awarded a life annuity from the Norwegian government (nice work if you can get it!). Maybe he isn't exactly a "front rank" composer, but his music is equally capable of charming the simple soul (like me) as it is the not so simple (like Liszt). A composer of several choral works, reams of piano pieces, some chamber music, and a fair stack of orchestral music, Grieg generally shunned larger-scale forms (his celebrated Piano Concerto being the best-known exception), believing that his strengths lay in the more intimate forms associated with his native Norwegian folk culture. On the alter-stone of this credo he lay over 120 songs, many of which were inspired not only by Norway but also by Nina who, being a soprano, was equally often the intended interpreter. The Two Elegaiac Melodies op. 34 are an arrangement for string orchestra of two songs from his op. 33. Shorn of their vocal element, both nevertheless reveal their provenance through the richly-inflected speech ...
