RIP Michael Jackson -- Man In The Mirror. It was June 25th 2009. I had woken up that morning much earlier than I usually did. I couldn't think why I was up and awake so early, but I never really lingered on it. On a sleepy high from fatigue and morning-doziness, I went downstairs, somewhat clueless and confused. I was still half-asleep. I went to the living room, where my mum sat watching the morning news. She was fully dressed, sleep still trapped in her eyes, and her face expressionless. She had no make-up on yet, and her hair was all over the place. But she wore a fancy suit and heels, so she didn't look bad. Just weird. Like half of her was ready for the day, and the other had arrived unprepared. She rubbed her eyes, and I sat next to her, contrasting greatly with my baggy boys' pyjamas, and bare feet. My hair was just as messy as hers. We must have looked so stupid. We sat in silence, watching the news. She was interested, I just needed something to focus on. I was out of it. Somewhere else. I didn't know really what was going on. Then that annoyingly pretty woman who never smiled popped up, and from her thin lips came the oddest of news. Michael Jackson was dead. I half-smiled, it was a lazy effort. I waited, hands on my lap, curled up on the arm rest, gracelessly. Chiantishire Memorial Tablets Only a brave producer can produce this sitcom. Are you just ready? Concept/Arena Three old ladies meet up every Thursday at their local cemetery, where they pay homage to their deceased husbands. Thus, the cemetery becomes a meeting-place bordering on the absurd, a place which continually transforms itself into other places such as .... like the mind, abstract and malleable... Despite the paradox, cemeteries retain a vitality which has faded away in the rest of the country. Old people move along a different time dimension, situated halfway between doziness and wisdom and allowing them enough room to delve deeper into things. Each one of a them is a self-styled philosopher. Most individuals are numbers, personal differences are thinning away. Nowadays it is hard to tell a lawyer's and a farmer's son apart. On the contrary, every character in the cemetery still has a strong identity and a great deal of time to express it. Dialogues will let cynicism, sarcasm and irony come to the surface. Laughter will ensue, especially when the gap between what we would like and what is becomes evident. In fact, the whole world has become a huge cemetery and it is the authors' desire that we revert back from zombies to living things.
