Doxology Octavebasse8 plays one of Aeolian-Skinner's last large instruments. 86 ranks built in 1968, unfortunately that means it is not a George Donald Harrison organ, BUT it's still a great American classic instrument with a neo-baroque edge. This organ is in the Second Presbyterian Church of Indianapolis. Oh, also, you'll note that we got kicked off at the end of the video. :-D

Marvin Sapp - Thirsty Doxology Dance Team Rivers Flow by Marvin Sapp Doxology is the Dance Team for Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church The vision for Doxology Dance Ministry serves as a conduit for people to feel empowered and free to worship God in new and creative ways. Dance Ministry is not about entertainment for the church audience, but about expressing a message in worship to an audience of one. Dance is, at its core, a form of communication, and can be used for many purposes in Christian ministry including: praise, worship, thanksgiving, teaching, evangelism, prophecy, intercession and warfare. This is to build an atmosphere where people can enter into the presence of God. And ultimately to bring Souls to Christ. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Old Hundredth (Doxology) Sorry I've missed posting for a few days. I promise I've been more upset about it than you've been. Today I went to Lumphini Park and recorded two songs. Rise Up Singing chapter: Faith, p.46 Words attributed to William Kethe, 1561 Melody, Louis Bourgeois, 1551 (Geneva Psalter) This melody appears in a lot of Christian hymnals. A doxology is just a short hymn praising God. From 'doxologos', 'doxa' is the Greek root for praise and 'logos' means 'speech'/'a speaking'. Check out the online etymology dictionary for more facts like that one: D - AGDDAD - - D - - A Bm GDA - - / DADADGA Bm - - / D - - AGDAD - - (Rise Up Singing provides a second possible chord pattern that I don't recognize, so I haven't used it here.) All people that on earth do dwell Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice Him serve with fear, his praise forth tell Come ye before him and rejoice The Lord, ye know, is God indeed Without our aid He did us make We are His flock, he doth us feed And for His sheep he doth us take O, enter then His gates with praise Approach with joy his courts unto Praise, laud and bless His name always For it is seemly so to do For why? The Lord our God is good His mercy is forever sure His truth at all times firmly stood And shall from age to age endure Praise God, from whom all blessings flow Praise Him all creatures here below Praise Him above, ye heavenly host Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost

Doxology - Jonathan Barnes guitar instrumental of the traditional melody for the doxology - inspired a little bit by Kelly Joe Phelps' version of Doxology off his album Roll Away The Stone, which is amazing - playing a 1993 Oak Leaf guitar built by my dad, guitar tuning is CGCGCC, capo on the 2nd fret, so it's around D (sorry didn't use a tuner, just tuned to itself, so it's probably off a bit)

The Great Doxology The Great Doxology is an ancient hymn of praise to the Trinity which is chanted or read daily in the Eastern Orthodox and Greek-Catholic Churches. The hymn is based on Luke 2:14 in which the angelic host appears to the shepherds and announces to them the Nativity of Christ. The hymn also incorporates verses from Psalm 145:2 and Psalm 119:12. The hymn is one of the most famous liturgical exclamations of praise (doxology) in the history of the Christian Church. The Great Doxology comes from an ancient Greek hymn dating from at least the 3rd century, and perhaps even the 1st century. A very similar form is found in the Codex Alexandrinus (5th century) and in Pseudo-Athanasius (sometime prior to the 4th century). The hymn has been extended further than these earlier examples (and what could be interpreted as allusions to subordinationism have been corrected). The Great Doxology has some similarities to Polycarp's final prayer before his martyrdom, as it is recorded by Eusebius. "I praise Thee for all, I bless Thee, I glorify Thee..." Polycarp is said to have been martyred 156-167 CE As currently used, the hymn is found in several different forms: The Great Doxology—Chanted by the choir, at Matins on Sundays and Feast days. The Great Doxology ends with the Trisagion. The Lesser Doxology—Read by the Reader on simple weekdays at Matins and at Compline. The verses are slightly rearranged from the Great Doxology, the verse from Psalm 119 is repeated in a different manner, and ...

Doxology This is my arrangement of the classic "doxology" or as it is better known: "Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow" or "Old 100th"...or 'the song they play after they take up the offering.' (I prefer to play it a safe distance away from the offering). It is number 95 in the United Methodist Hymnal, but the "Old 100th" came from when the 'hymnal' used to only be filled with psalms set to music and this tune was from that 1551 arrangement attributed to Louis Bourgeois. The words for this text came from Thomas Ken (father of english hymn writing) and was written by him with the simple title (or instructions) "morning and evening hymn." This version uses a cut capo (simulates DADGAD by holding the strings in an Esus, which allows the guitar player to play 'rhythm' and 'lead/melody' at the same time) and is styled/arranged after a Passion/David Crowder version of the song. Note the use of 'God' in lieu of 'Him' for greater inclusivity while retaining the Trinitarian and doctrinally important (Baptism/Eucharist rites & inter-denominational covenants/agreements) language of Father, Son, & Holy Ghost. more at
