Han Bennink on Cheese Kit Diptych - Sound Check Cheese Kit Diptych is an installation by artist Walter Willems consisting of two drum kits. In one, full rounds of real (mainly Dutch) cheese sit atop drum stands; in the other, plastic cheese replicas usually found in store display windows are employed. In this absurd setting Willems reinforces the international stereotype of the Dutch by using a classic Dutch export product as its main ingredient. Cheese Kit Diptych was created specifically to be played by world-renowned Dutch improvisational jazz drummer Han Bennink. Bennink, ambassador of the Dutch free jazz scene, is known for his ability to drum on any surface, teeming with humor, virtuosity, and creativity through his animated style. Willems considered his installation incomplete until Bennink played both of the drum kits. The drum performance by Han Bennink was recorded on June 17, 2005 at the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art where the Cheese Kit Diptych installation was a featured artwork in the Demons Stole My Soul: rock 'n roll drums in contemporary art exhibition. As part of the performance Bennink also played a conventional drum kit and a pair of wooden shoes. Directed and produced by Walter Willems. DVD available at the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art, Toronto, Canada. ©2006 Walter Willems, All rights reserved. Diptych portraits in interaction - LudImaginary Retrospective of "Diptych portraits in interaction" series from French photographer Richard Vantielcke. The concept of the series is based on diptych of portraits in interaction. The first portrait acts, the second have to respond to it or just suffer the consequences. I would like to thank My mini model Mina for her availability, infinite patience and incredible number of body and facial expressions available, despite a lame actor director : "yeah, do your funny face like this, yeah you know with your eye like this... and yeah with your left arm like that... no your other left arm..." Enaress - Galling Diptychs Song: Galling Diptychs Artist: Enaress Album: "2010: TOUCHBOUND" Another WYSIWYG/experimental performance using GlitchDS homebrew music software for Nintendo DS, and Korg KP3. http Funny fact, I didn't even know what a "diptych" was until after I named the song (via an anagram maker). Turns out it is "any object with two flat plates attached at a hinge", like a Nintendo DS! By the way, "Galling" is the wear and tear on a metallic surface when pressed against eachother.

Madonna Diptych Painting Time-lapse by Nick San Pedro Time-lapse production of a diptych painting on canvas of Madonna. Painted in August of 2008 by Artist Nick San Pedro. http NickSan Pedro was born in Las Vegas, NV on November 15, 1978 to a Cuban-Chinese father, and a Spanish-French mother. As a young child, San Pedro immersed himself in art, spending most of his time drawing. People quickly grew fond of the young artist's creations. San Pedro was surrounded by all types of music and live stage shows, being raised in Las Vegas. The artist's father was friends with Siegfried and Roy, which led to Nick having many opportunities to share his works with them throughout his adolescence. Roy was especially encouraging, and his acknowledgment of San Pedro's talent was all the artist needed to believe that his artwork was truly magical. San Pedro's love for music and performance led to the creation of many works of art that would eventually gain attention from musicians coming to perform in the entertainment capitol of the world. In 2002, while attending college, San Pedro was commissioned to produce artwork for 'NBC's Last Call with Carson Daly'. The following year, The artist was hired to paint eight musicians, including Madonna, for the 45th Annual Grammy Awards Pre-Party. After debuting his artwork in New York City in the prestigious Rainbow Room, San Pedro went on to share many of his paintings with numerous people in the entertainment industry, including: Christina Aguilera, Nelly Furtado ...

Director Ann Hui (許鞍華) completes Tin Shui Wai diptych Following a spate of murders, suicides and coupled by unemployment, the isolated town of Tin Shui Wai in the northern New Territories has been dubbed as the "City of Sadness". This has been the background of director Ann Hui On-wah's most recent two films 'The Way We Are' and 'Night and Fog'. It was a surprising success for The Way We Are at this year's Hong Kong Film Awards and earned Hui the Best Director award. It also won Best Actress (Paw Hee-Ching), Screenplay (Lou Shiu-wa) and Best Supporting Actress (Chan Lai-wun). While Night and Fog is set to similar circumstances to its predecessor, it is not a sequel but rather a complementary follow-up to create a diptych of Tin Shui Wai. It stars Simon Yam Tat-wah (任達華) and mainland actress Zhang Jingchu (張靜初). In this video, film editor Clarence Tsui speaks to Hui prior to the Film Awards.

Jan van Eyck. The Annunciation Diptych This diptych is an outstanding example of grisaille painting. Here, van Eyck deliberately rejects the use of primary colours, painting the figures in white on a black background to create the illusion of a sculptural group. The painting forms part of a series of small-format works probably intended for private devotion. The inscriptions on the frames—a common device in van Eyck's panels—refer to the subject of the diptych: the first and last sentences of the dialogue between the Archangel ('Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee' [I-28]) and Mary ('Behold the handmaiden of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word' [I-38]), taken from the Gospel of St Luke. The frames were painted by the artist using trompe l'oeil effects and playing with the exquisite set of mouldings that decorate the panel.
