These are the questions the Deists asks, as well as being sick of warfare over religion. Copernicus, Kepler, Brahe, Galileo destroyed Christianity's earth-centered view. The Bible was in for a drubbing with Lord Cherbury and friends. Locke comes into play opposing innateness arguments for this Deist God, and the tabula rasa or blank slate notion of mind comes into play. Deists then had to turn to arguments from experience and nature. Extensive, skillfull panning and cropping. Both the French and American revolutions were influenced by this movement. The Cult of the Supreme Being was a national cult in France for a time. Many founding fathers saw the value of reason, but especially Jefferson was a propounder of Deism. Franklin found anti-Deist tracts drew him to Deism and Thomas Paine made it popular. We see a god without revelation. • Deism Deception show #2 Examination Of The Prophecies, by Thomas Paine Thomas Paine said "There is no man that believes in revealed religion stronger than I do but it is not the reveries of the Old and New Testament, nor of the Koran, that I dignify with that sacred title. That which is revelation to me, exists in something which no human mind can invent, no human hand can counterfeit or alter. The Word of God is the Creation we behold...." Yes folks I raise my children to know that they are Christ Prophets. I tell them that the day they were born was the day they were "anointed" by God with this sacred gift called life making them a Christ child. I tell them to be their own Prophets of God that they do receive personal revelations all the time from this Eternal Life Force that we rightly call God. I tell them that the more they learn the more truths will come their way. I tell them that this precious life that you have been blessed to be a part of is sacred, and is the best way of ascertaining any real truth on our Creator. Love the Creator, and all that that Creator has created is our only commandment that we try to live by.

  • RE: Deist Challenge Pt. 2 (To John & Jordan) Response to theEdge012 - - in our ongoing discussion about Deism. Annotation if it doesn`t appear - Yes of course we have had those who said God spoke to them in a dream and we have the Ten Commandments said to be in stone. But these are always told to ONE person to which we are to believe by faith. ADDED NOTE: My Deistic beliefs will be an evolving process. I was in Christianity for most of my life. I am sure there are many beliefs and ideas that I need to challenge ongoing. It is like an addict going through withdrawals.(excuse the ***ogy) A Classic Deist definition is in general a belief that God created the Universe and all its physical & natural laws and left it to its own devices or abandoned it. At this stage I personally do not totally agree with that idea.My opinion may be because of all the years of belief in a personal God and my refusal to drop that belief. I also have had certain experiences I cannot deny. So I am not a classic deist and that is why I use the term Modern Deist. Labels are so limiting though and then you are usually put in a box. At this point I believe in a God. I do not presume to know all of God. I can though with awareness receive revelation about God through Nature & People. This is a life long process. Knowing Fully God is not a destination while on earth but can ONLY be a journey willfully taken.
