Rip Torn vs Norman Mailer - the infamous "Maidstone" brawl - UNCUT! This is the final scene from Norman Mailer's MAIDSTONE, in which he played the part of a famous movie director running for President of the United States, who is supposed to be assassinated in the finale. Mailer concluded principal photography without resolving the final scene, and Rip Torn (playing his brother-in-law and assassin) allegedly decided to take it upon himself to "improvise" an attack by hitting Mailer on the head with a small hammer, drawing blood. Mailer retaliated by tackling and then nearly chewing Torn's ear off as they grappled viciously, and it rapidly escalated into an unhinged on-camera brawl as Mailer's horrified kids screamed in terror. This is the completely uncut sequence. I have to wonder how "unplanned" it was, as the camera is obviously following Rip closely in the moments before the attack, and if principal photography had finished the day before, why was the camera crew still hanging around filming Rip and the Mailer family? Its more like Mailer knew Rip would pull something for the camera, but didnt know what, and overreacted because he wasnt expecting him to use a real hammer and actually start hitting him with it. Mailer's verbal reaction is oddly artificial (although the ear chewing is very real and painful to watch) and his wife seems to be lurking just off camera, and then she suddenly starts screaming like a banshee, which is what sets the kids off. BUCS Week 09: Football & Squash Teams throughout Leeds Met heralded stellar results as they concluded this year's British Universities and College Sport fixtures. Men's Tennis have won the Barclays BUCS Tennis Premier Division after maintaining their 100 per cent start to the season. They beat Cambridge 10-0 to record their ninth consecutive win. Louise Assioun, Tennis Manager at Leeds Met, said: " The last day of BUCS for 2008 has been a great day for Men's tennis. The Men's 1st team have convincingly beaten Cambridge to secure the Premier League. With only Loughborough to play, the team have won significant numbers of matches and rubbers not to be beaten in the Premier league by second place Loughborough, therefore the final match to be played in January 2009, can be played with no inhibitions. Blood Bowl Legendary Edition Undead vs Lizardmen Part 1 One thing I can say about the undead: they're a tough team to start out with. Since their linemen are below average, their general lack of skills on rookies and the cost of their two mummies. This game is the team's sixth if I'm not mistaken. Star Player Points have been more or less rare and only some players are level 2 (mummy with guard, wight with tackle, a couple of zombies/skellies with block and a skelly with mighty blow) while none have reached level 3. They've won or drawn all their games but never convincingly (never scored more than 2 TDs in a game) And had a few bad rolls for earnings. So you end up with a pretty iffy team that's starting to have a much higher value than its real worth. However, they did catch a break with this new tournament: only four teams including lizardmen and halflings (my players were already showing their pearly whites even before the start of the competition). Therefore I was hoping for more convincing results and more SPPs per game so I could finally field a solid team. As you'll see, the undead delivered! (of course, the AI is dumb as bricks but hey, what are you gonna do?) I won't upload their game against halflings since it'll be far too violent for Youtube... Hopefully I'll be able to show a strong matchup in a tournament or two. Isla Los Roques UFO 1 of 2 Animation Its an impressive video, even if the UFO is real or not. This is one of several I have found with the "Los Roques" title. The two that I have posted seem to be the most realistic of the bunch. See the manbird channel for others in this series. Amazing what can be done these day with computer video special effects! Why show it then? Because it is being sent around discussion groups and has shown up on a number of sites, and has been posted as real in a number of those sites. A quick check of YouTube shows it is computer animation, but very good animation, and convincing until you look further and see that it is one of many, some of which are not done as convincingly as this one is. But if I find a "real" UFO video I will post that as well. All of us will have to encounter some "real" and some "fake" videos along the way as we search out the truth about these unusual events and possible events that interest us. The best that any of us can do at any point in time will be to keep an open mind, keep our skepticism in working order, and to keep our powers of observation in practice by using them. Today, light and shadow, lens flairs, and motion involving 3D objects, as well as realistic hand held camera motion can be done convincingly, realistic field sound can be mixed in, as has been done in this animation. I may have some vodka tonight, without any mixer, Neale quipped outside the jubilant Whalers locker room after a win of such magnitude most of the sellout crowd will never know. This was the strongest Soviet Union hockey team ever put on ice and one which has a score to settle after last years Canada Cup defeat let alone that national pride it hopes to regain in the next World championship. It was a bitter blow for the Russians to watch a bunch of Whalers, hanging by a toenail in fourth place in the east division standings, beat them convincingly. It was a great emotional effort that will probably cost us two points tomorrow night, but it was worth it tonight, said Neale who boards a plane this morning for the Whalers game in St. Paul this evening. I dont expect that we could play with that emotional intensity every night. But our players, I think, were as upset as I was, after last Mondays game with the Czechs. They are all from my impressionable student days, chosen because every one of these great singers gave performances as vivid to me now as when I first heard them. Every one was more than just a voice and they all sang, in their very different ways, so as to move, excite and enchant. Sean Jurinac was extremely popular in England, beginning with Glyndebourne where she sang many principal Mozart roles. She was also a frequent visitor to Covent Garden. I heard her first in January 1959 as Madama Butterfly where she was convincingly strong without being excessively emotional. She was ideal as Elvira in a very grand production of Don GIovanni by Franco Zeffirelli. The settings were after Watteau, spacious, elaborate and moody, the costumes heavy and detailed in black, dark brown and gold, with contrasting pale colours for the peasants. Cesare Siepi, tall and elegant, was the perfect Don, Geraint Evans a fruity Leporello and Mirella Freni, in her early twenties, a charming Zerlina. Elvira has a hard time in this opera and can easily sound squally. Sena Jurinac conquered by being noble and dignified. She had a very fine stage presence, with handsome features which read well from a distance, and she always sang with steady, strong, warm tone. The new Fidelio production with Klemperer was a triumph all round. Jurinac was very convincing ...

(Going down?) Elevator does, in fact, stand as perhaps the most convincingly musical of all the band's albums -- Trouser Press magazine even compared it to the Beatles' Rubber Soul. That might be pushing the envelope somewhat, but still the band had shrugged off the ***y sound of yesteryear and, unlike others who made a similar move, unearthed a worthwhile vibe with which to replace it. The ensuing hard rocking AOR direction was so convincing that, had they not been the Rollers, they could have given the likes of Foreigner and Toto a run for their money. "Turn on the Radio" certainly remains a fine number ...
