  • David Lynch visits Copenhagen - presents his artwork at GL Galleri Copenhagen Denmark Sept 24 2010 The Copenhagen Air is on Fire with David Lynch's latest Artwork David Lynch holds a press conference of his "The Air is on Fire" art exhibition at GL Strand in the center of Copenhagen to be opened September 26th. The exhibition was first shown at Foundation Cartier pour l'Art Contemporain in Paris 2007. The exhibition shows a careful selection of David Lynch's production from the 1960s to today - the monumental paintings, drawings, post-it format, lithographs, early experimental films, watercolors and sound sculpture Today, Lynch answered about 20 questions from the Danish press, and seemed in good spirits. He was asked what did he think about Denmark - and replied that he thought Danes were full of light and a very enlightened country; but when asked if there was any Dane that has inspired him, he replied No. He also spoke about his appreciation and value about "doodling", and he marked it was a fine chance to explore ones creativity and ideas. David Lynch praised the art work of Bob Dylan and supported the idea of artists to explore all areas of their talents. "I like to go under the surface - these ideas come and they are surprising to me and they come in fragments - and then they connect - there are many things going on under the surface - and we can all feel them and they are interesting to think about" remarks Mr. Lynch. When asked about the name "Bob" - Lynch replied that a name is quite important and can change the way you think. The name of a person indicates ...

  • expecto patronum Expecto Patronum (Patronus Charm) Pronunciation: /ɛksˈpɛktoʊ pəˈtroʊnəm/ eks-PEK-toh pə-TROH-nəm Description: Conjures an incarnation of the caster's innermost positive feelings, such as joy, hope, or the desire to survive, known as a Patronus. A Patronus is conjured as a protector, and is a weapon rather than a predator of souls: Patronuses shield their conjurors from Dementors, and can even drive them away. A Patronus "cannot feel despair, as real humans can, so Dementors can't hurt it."[16] The conjured Patronus protects the witch or wizard that summoned it, obeys his or her commands, and fades away shortly after it is no longer required. When conjured, a Patronus appears silvery, ethereal, and semi-transparent. Improperly formed Patronuses range from momentary formless bursts of silvery mist, to poorly-defined forms which are easily defeated or quickly dissipate on their own. A full-fledged (or corporeal) Patronus takes on a fixed animal form that is often significant to the witch or wizard casting the charm. Patronuses summoned by a particular person have been known to change, such as Tonks' patronus. Rowling has said that Snape was the only Death Eater to be able to produce a Patronus. According to her this is 'because a Patronus is used against things that the Death Eaters generally generate, or fight alongside. They would not need Patronuses'.[17] According to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the Charm is also the only known defensive spell against ...

  • Brief Intro and Look Into Hoodoo I just wanted to quickly talk about hoodoo for people who are looking through my videos and might be interested. Just wanted to show a little bit of history, didn't go to much into detail if you want more information just let me know! While folklore and folk magic have been lost nearly everywhere else in any country, hoodoo is widely practices in states of North America proudly such as New Orleans which is a place that embraces the folklore practices and its mystical history. Tribal beliefs and practices of African slaves mix with Native American and European rituals to create a spiritual sensibility very different from the communities in other parts of North America, blending and creating a very unique branch of magical system known as Hoodoo. Hoodoo, also known as conjure, rootwork and witchcraft, is a form of folk magic combining European folklore, African spiritual beliefs and Native American botanical knowledge (sometimes simply known as "rootwork"). Unlike Voodoo, hoodoo is not a religion, having no basis in theology (however religious backgrounds are often incorporated).Rather hoodoo emphasizes personal power. Practitioners create spells also called conjures or tricks in order to heal, protect, attract and even harm others. Louisiana is one of the most common places assocaited with both hoodoo and Voodoo. Hoodoo is primarily practiced in the rural areas by blacks and whites a like. Hoodoo is about community, Mother Earth, and self-empowerement. Hoodoo is also an ...

  • RADIO NOWHERE A couple of years back when the video for Radio Nowhere from Bruce Springs***s album Magic was released, it was a real bummer. The vibe and lyrics of the song conjure up images of a man trying to find his way home, traveling through desolate parts of America while trying to find some crucial tunes on the radio. When the official video dropped all we got was some footage of the band playing the song in the recording studio with b-roll of some people walking around New York City. Basically the opposite of the images that the song conjures up. So sometimes you just have to take matters into your own hands. Heres my version

  • Cold Steel Spartan Folding Knife Available at KnifeCenter The word Spartan conjures up the vivid history of the battle of Thermopylae, a story of enormous courage in the face of devastating odds. The Spartans were a tough breed, trained from childhood in the art of war and inured to most privations, both mental and physical. Engaging them at close quarters was something to be feared and avoided, as their famous Kopis swords struck off arms and legs like a scythe in a wheat field! Designed by Andrew Demko, the Cold Steel Spartan is a folding Kopis scaled down to accommodate the demands of a tamer, more sophisticated world. The 4 1/2" blade evokes the classic Kopis of the ancients with its characteristic recurved edge, big belly and sharp, acute point. It's hollow ground from Japanese AUS 8A stainless and has some similarities with a Kukri. Like the Kukri, the Spartan always presents its edge at an angle to the material being cut to produce a deep sheering effect. However, since its point is narrower and more acute than most Kukri blades, it stabs almost as well as it cuts. The Spartan also echoes the ancient Kopis in its handle. It's designed to help the hand resist the pull of centrifugal force and to retard forward momentum, when stabbing, or backward movement, when hammering or smashing with its pommel. Injection molded out of Grivory with steel liners for strength, it's heavily contoured for comfort and features irregular fluting and a heavily textured surface finish for an exceptionally effective grip. The Spartan has dual ...

  • Discovery - Life's journey "Discovery" is an introspective and questioning song and I used pictures of fog in London to suggest its prevailing mood. It started off even more foggily to the point where Resident Musical Critic In Chief (aka Implacable Cliche Exterminator) was visibly annoyed. I have tried to make it more positive. The Implacable One was slightly placated. The question it tries to address is whether we are ever really able to truly know Another. As the trend seems to be the glorification of Self, the question becomes more relevant. The song tries to put a positive spin on this riddle. Discovery In your face I see a reflection, Of shared and treasured memories. Before you, an empty canvas. Only you know who I am. Every day I see more of you, Your doubts, your fears, your sweet repose. So much more to discover, We have only just begun. In the day, in the night, in the dark, in the light. What we doubtfully conceal, soon enough time reveals Life is full of endless changes But we stay the same inside. Love conjures up neat surprises With trust we have no secrets In the lifelong journey of discovery.
