  • 1945 London Shamrocks 1945 LONDON SHAMROCKS: It's called the knack and the late Bill Farquharson had it in spades. He had the knack of putting together championship teams. As London's recreation director in the 1940s and '50s he was front and centre in cobbling together such high profile commodities as the London Majors 1948 North American baseball champions, the Supremes women's softball squad, the city's fine tennis, swimming and minor baseball programs and the Playground Olympics that drew thousands of kids from all corners of the community. He was responsible for creating and operating the London Shamrocks senior women's basketball team that won the Eastern Canadian title in 1945. The Shamrocks were born in 1944, taking the name of an Ontario champion women's team that represented London several decades earlier. The team was picked from players in the City League and entered into the Ontario Intermediate B playoff tournament held in Toronto where the London girls defeated Brantford Waterous, Toronto Alerts and Merritton Housers to take the title. The following year the Shamrocks competed in the Senior A League against teams from Hamilton, Guelph, Brantford and Toronto and won the Ontario championship en route to a date with the Montreal Olympics for the Eastern Canada title. A possible trip to Vancouver for a national crown was also in the works. The series with Montreal consisted of a two-games, total-points round. Both contests were played at Beal Tech with the Shamrocks winning 31-22 ...

  • Warmoth Fretless Guitar Demo II After cobbling together my first fretless guitar from a bunch of orphaned parts, I decided I liked it so much that I'd convert another of my instruments - this time with a new unfretted neck from Warmoth. The neck has a smooth as silk ebony fingerboard, with slots that I've left unfilled (no need - you can't feel them). I finished it with stain and tung oil. The guitar is going through a small amount of digital delay, then into a Fender Princeton Reverb amp that I've mic'd with a Shure SM57. Then into my Mac via the Presonus Firestudio audio interface.

Moto.Joe makes one of his rare cameo appearances...not to be missed. A few climbs, some spills (both the physical and the fluid kind), and some lame racing round out the morning. The squeamish might not want to watch as surgery is performed on DR650 there is even a little boot repair for the fans of cobbling. A lot of gratuitous slow motion effects!

  • Auto-irrigation setup This was cobbled together out of a home depot for less than a hundred bucks. I have a NEMA outdoor rated switch box driving a small, submersible pond pump in a 40gallon garbage can reservoir. This feeds a main water line that, with the help of hot glue and duct tape, is split out into smaller tubing that feeds each pot directly. This was my first pass at cobbling this together. The next iteration will have either a larger main line or smaller secondaries such that the flow rate is more consistent along the length of the tube. Or maybe I'll just get lazy and run small tubes of equal length from the source itself. Aside from this one issue that is somewhat compensated for by placing hungry plants closer to the source, the system works and allows me to travel for some time without fear for my garden.
  • Kings Vs Lakers - Season Game 47 Recap - 2010-11 Before the game, Lakers coach Phil Jackson said co-captain Derek Fisher spoke to the team about not thinking about their rematch of last year's NBA Finals against the Celtics Sunday! Fisher didn't want the Lakers to overlook the Kings, who came in with the third worst record in the NBA. They did, however! Behind a spirited effort by a Sacramento rookie and a lights-out shooting performance in the third quarter, the Kings outlasted the Lakers 100-95 Friday at Staples Center! The Kings (11-33) led by as many as 20 points in the contest! They snapped an eight-game losing streak to Los Angeles with rookie DeMarcus Cousins cobbling a game-high 27 points and 10 rebounds! Omri Casspi tallied 20 points and Carl Landry had 12 and 10! Only three Lakers (33-14) finished in double figures as they shot 41.3 percent in the loss! Kobe Bryant, who surpassed Hakeem Olajuwon (26946 points) for eighth on the NBA's all-time scoring list, posted a game-high 38 points! Shannon Brown collected 17 points and Andrew Bynum chipped in with 12! Season Game: 47 I do not claim ownership or makin' money from this video. All rights reserved by copyright owners.

  • Silent Shadow of the Bat-Man #1 - Retro 1920s Dark Knight (Part 1 of 5) Parts one and two are halves of a 12 minute short depicting the origin of "The Bat-Man" and introducing his amazing skills and abilities... Bob Kane and Bill Finger drew on a lot of silent films to create Batman, and I've always wanted to give the story a try using silent film techniques. What with that whole copyright/waste of time thing, you'll have to settle for this collage. Here are the original influences re-arranged to tell Bruce Wayne's story and his crusade against crime. A bit of fun not intended for sale or commercial exploitation... what with the huge commercial value of silent films and everything. Make sure and check out part two conveniently located at for the Rogue's Gallery: featuring the Joker... Oswald Cobblepot, AKA The Penguin... The Cat-Woman! The unspeakable horrors of the Scarecrow! The scientific genius of R'as Al Ghul! All this and pulsepounding, teethgrinding excitement as "The Bat-Man" falls into the Joker's trap - literally. The followup, "Arkham After Midnight" - is here: Chapter One: "Mark of The Mad Hatter" Sources used: THE BAT (1926) THE MAN WHO LAUGHS (1928) THE CABINET OF DOCTOR CALIGARI (1920) Edison's FRANKENSTEIN (1910) THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ (1910) BATMAN (1943 for Ghul and Wayne in Lab) A quick two day collage by Andre Perkowski. • We are in a lot of trouble ! This piece was created by cobbling together several speeches made by Howard Beale in the 1976 movie "Network". network1976 Network is famous for establishing the phrase "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore." It seems to me that Beale's weak-up appeal to the American public is just as applicable today as it was 30 years ago. Though the Internet does today provide an unparalleled alternate source of information that was not available 30 years ago, sadly it is still shockingly underused. Official black & white explanations for events such as 9/11 and the Oklahoma City bombing are glibly accepted and seldom subjected to any type of reality check. Pieces such as "Loose Change" are valiant wake-up calls - no doubt - but the enchantment is deep and the subjects difficult to reach. Howard puts his finger on the crux of the matter almost better than almost anyone else.
  • iPad Pressure Demonstration This is a technical demonstration of pressure sensitivity on an Apple iPad using a Pogo Sketch. The video shows how pen pressure can be used to change the width of a line. Palm rejection capabilities are also demonstrated. For more information, visit /blog. Hope you'll forgive us for cobbling this together in a hurry!
  • DIY Bike Workstand Home-made bicycle workstand ("aka the Frankenstand") made mostly from reused and recycled parts. Inexpensive, practical and bomb-proof. Yes, you could go down to your local bike shop and buy a good workstand for a few hundred bucks, but that would be missing the point. This is old school, it honours ingenuity and thrift. Twenty bucks and a couple hours researching ideas and cobbling it together -- my dad would be proud.

  • Satmar Cobler from Bukhara ( бухарский сапожник ) Many of this new generation are Bukharan Jews who have come from Central Asian countries like Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. They bring with them a long cobbling heritage that is evident in shoe repair shops throughout the city, but especially on Lee Avenue, home to four busy shoe repair shops operated by Bukharan Jews. Dovid Miyerov runs one of those shops, and he and Lee Avenue's other cobblers are always particularly busy before Passover, which this year began last night. On the Monday before last year's holiday, he and his assistant put in a 16-hour day. As the local Hasidim prepared to observe the coming Seders with unblemished footwear, the two cobblers were coping with a holiday rush.(more nytimes)

  • UGLY STICK - A DEMO As i said, i've checked out lately and become obsessed with thinking up stuff to make as a result of becoming a member of ....a gosh darn fun community as well.... most of the stuff i'm cobbling together at present are just trial runs......i'm not so skilled when it comes to building stuff that calls for precision, etc. i get mental pictures in my head, but executing the finished product is a different story, both because of my supplies and lack of skills....oh and utter impatience ;) after i finished this one (the ugly stick) i was reminded of these primitive banjos that came from Africa (the true origins of the banjo) and how this thing looked similar to them....they used gourds and sticks and gut strings i believe.... ...i'm gonna 'ramble' on a bit here....if you like 'world music' and have never listened to "Ali Farka Toure" check out his stuff....amazing....and he did lots of work with other folks like Ry Cooder and other Malian artists....some of which played primitive looking instruments.... have fun!, todd (brother sonny)

  • The Legend of the Dogman The Michigan Dogman is a local cryptid that was popularized in 1987 by DJ Jack O'Malley and his production manager Steve Cook of WTCM radio. The two men invented the Dogman (or thought they did) by cobbling together various legends (like the New Jersey Devil and the Boggy Creek Monster), and then wrote a song about him that they played as a prank on their show. To both men's shock and surprise, reports of actual sightings of the Michigan Dogman started to pour in almost immediately after broadcasting the prank. Looking into the sightings a bit more seriously, the two men discovered that such reports had been taking place in and around Michigan since the early 1800s, when French traders visiting the local Indians referred to the creature as the loup garou (which is French for werewolf. Numerous people who report seeing the Dog Man describe a moment in which a creature who looks like a very unusual and very large dog suddenly stands upright and seems to transform itself into a cross between a dog and a man right before their eyes.
  • The Transformers G1 - Season 3 Fan Intro Cobbling together pieces of the G1 Season 3 intro, Transformers 2010 intro, a couple bits of the movie (albeit one of them was already IN said 2010 intro ^_^), and a spot of Dark Awakening and the logo from the end of the season 1 credits, I've created a... really shaky and epilepsy-inducing poor attempt. Probably. But when you're trying to make Season 3 look less awful, you're already fighting for an unpopular cause, so what the hey XD The song is the Stan Bush and Vince DiCola version of the Transformers theme (cropped to intro length), which was released on a compilation album of theirs.
